Hi everyone, just a quick one from MD today .

Had a coffee with our lovely thread buddy Cally yesterday and we had a good chat. She is exactly like I imagined! Little Katie is gorgeous, she has lovely bright blue eyes. I have a really nice piccy which I will put up when I get a moment.

E sleep really well again last night (2 get ups and a little cry before going back to sleep) - Hurrah!! Puhlease let this be the turning point.

Re toys - Elisabeth loves taking things out - shapes out of an icecream container, toys out of a bowll etc We have a little FP xylophone that also has buttons, which gets played with a lot. She's also taken a new interest in her stacking activity blocks. Loves her little rubber ducky set in the bath. Other good things at this age are a jack-in-the-box and a push car (you know press it down and it moves) or a round cylinder toy they can push and crawl along behind (we have an inflatable one with jingly bells in it) and soon (thinking ahead) they will love walking toys they can push in front of them. Don't forget a variety of books too!! She was fascinated by a stacking russian doll at the ostepaths so I might dig around for her stacking cups (they're out in the shed) and just start with three or four.

ETA Noni I like your hair, the layering is quite pretty. It was a lot longer than that before wasn't it?

Wow girls what a good the icecream container is. I just threw one into the recycling bin this morning so I've just dug it out before I forget. I'm going to use the peg idea, and other random blocks to pop in it. Such a cheap idea, & great for us as we really dont have an awful lot left over at the moment to spend on toys once the mortgage & living expenses have come out! Also been meaning to visit a toy library.

I still cant figure out how to get into the gallery these days Noni, I'm sure your hair looks lovely! Had a laugh at Asha sitting up and burping, could just imagine it!

I gave Maddie some lentil & pumpkin puree last night, which tastes so yummy, but oh my gosh she has been farting like crazy non stop today lol. I think the lentils might be a once a week thing.

MD - Wow thats so great that you had a meet up with Cally! I'm praying the good sleeping is a turning point for you.

Renee - Thats such a funny dream!! Thanks for the heads up about the toy sale.

Arte - The keyboard as a toy is a great idea, Maddie often tries to bang on this one.

Gracie - Let us know how the dyson is.

Jazmum - I love your formula tin toy idea.

just quickly girls- has anyone got the 'fisher price stack and roll cups'?
if so, how much did you pay for them?
i could only find one person selling them on ebay and they're $19.95 + $9.50 postage. i think that's a bit pricey and i might have to actually leave the house and go to a shop to get some LOL

Gracie I just PM'd you a ink for the fisher price stack and roll cups, $19.95 seems a bit expensive to me (if i have sent a link to the right thing).

    Noni your hair looks great.

Hayley the link to the gallery is in the top purple bar near new post etc.

MD glad coffee with Cally went so well. I wish we could all meet up. I have everything crossed for you that E has turned a corner with the sleeping.

Had better run and get dinner started.

PMSL Gracie! You and I are twin souls, I'm sure of it! I'm thinking I might check out the Target thing too (good tip Renee), starting to think towards 1st birthday, although I'm mostly trying to have a "Sustainable" xmas this year - only giving handmade/environmentally sound/recycled (ie op shop) gifts, using recycled newspaper wrapping and cards instead of all the dreadful cr@p I usually buy.

Another good night's sleep here, got up at 11.30, 2.45 (resettled again at 3.40) and then again at 6.45. Aaaah my brain function's returning.

Ha! just turned around and E is standing up hanging onto a side table. Busy Betty!!

High drama at my house this morning when H told me a girl (who she has been having problems with all year) told her yesterday that she is going to "scan the playground until I find you, take you up to the top oval and bash you." !!!!!!!! NOT OVER MY DEAD BODY. Regardless of whether they physical violence is going to take place, the use of threats and intimidation is unacceptable so i marched straight up to the school. The girl will be spending the next few lunchtimes in the "zone" which is where playground bullies go to learn about appropriate behaviour. H said to me, "but it's ok Mum, I've worked out if I go out the other door and run around the top path and down the front of the school she won't be able to find me"(!!) It's such a classic bullying scenario, a)that H feels she needs to sneak around in order to be safe and b) that H tried to tell me it was ok because she was worried about what this girl would do to her when she finds out H has "dobbed". But the school is really good and I know i can rely on them to follow up if there is any future intimidation. She can keep trying but by golly each and every time she tries to intimidate my H she will find herself excluded in the zone again Until She Gets It. I told H if the girl says anything nasty about dobbing H is to say "Your behaviour was unacceptable and I won't tolerate it" because it's a statement that restores the power back to H. The school is also going to work with H on some strategies to deal with this type of behaviour and have agreed to help her use that sort of language too. I feel exactly like a mother bear protecting her young this morning!

Marydean - i was just about in tears reading your post. I want to protect her too!!!!! Poor H. It's so good that she told you and you were able to get it sorted. Hopefully the bully will be embarrassed about heading into The 'Zone' and will leave H alone from now on. . Are they in full view of the rest of the children when they in the zone?
Yaaaay on E climbing . (or maybe not lol)

Go Marydean!!! Poor H doesnt understand that she shouldnt have to make her escape around at the back exit to avoid the bully. School is meant to be a fun & safe environment! Would they have told the bully's mother about the incident? I would be horrifed as a mother to hear that my child is a bully. Good on you for marching up to the school, I would have done the exact same thing. I was bullied by a boy in primary school and it went on for ages, it even got physical, he hit me a few times. I was too scared to tell anyone but mum picked up on it when I didnt want to go to school anymore. The teachers did nothing much so mum took matters into her own hands and had a word with him herself, and also approached his bogan parents who were horrible people. That worked in the end, but I still remember it vividly to this day, was terrible. Glad you are onto it quick smart MD.

I've got to say, it's not the first problem H has had. She tends to dance to the beat of her own drum a bit, as well as flitting from group to group (she doesn't have her own established little posse of friends which I think might make her vulnerable). But on each occasion the school has acted swiftly and very appropriately. They document every thing too so they have a paper record so they can present evidence to the offending child's parents. I think it's been a problem at the school for a while (and it's got something to do with the layout of the school grounds, too big to be supervised properly). But I'm really proud of Hannah that each time she has told me and stood her ground and expected the perpetrator to be dealt with appropriately. Jazmum, the Zone works on getting the offenders to understand the cost of their actions, and then they are taken through a restorative process where the victim gets to tell them how their actions affected them and how they would like them to make amends, and then the perpetrator has to make amends and apologise (sincerely). In one instance the boy responsible was removed from the class for a whole week and not allowed to rejoin his class until Hannah agreed that she was comfortable to have him back. They take it very very seriously. TBH if they didn't I would remove H from that school because it's not OK to let that stuff happen and not protect the kids!!!

that's fantastic that the school takes the issue so seriously. I must look into the policy at Jess's school.
Does anyone know if you can find out whether sex offenders live in your area? Was just watching a little bit of Dr Phil over lunch and the topic got me wondering whether i have access to that information. I did see a website where you can pay for that sort of information, but i don't want to do that.

Jazmum, I just take the view that there could be sex offenders living in every house on the street (except mine of course and I'm pretty confident there's not any at the FDC lady's house), lurking in every playground and hanging around every school. Statistically there probably are and they might not ever have been charged or prosecuted. Personally if I ever meet a man who is just a little too "nice" or a little too friendly it just raises the hackles on my neck and I make sure my DDs aren't ever near that person. Ever.

With regard to prosecuted pedophiles, the police keep a pretty good eye on them, and there are victim networks who keep an eye on their movements as well.
