Hugs Kate!! so sorry to hear your birth did'nt go as well as you had hoped...a debriefing service might be very helpful..I wish they had a service available when I had my first..I had such wonderful plans that were dashed beyond belief..and yes it has affected my views on birth so much so that I was scared to have another baby for a long time..and even up to Tilly's birth..
Birth has never been that wondeful experience for me that a lot of other people seem to get.. in saying that I have made a kind of peace with it all??? I guess life is full of disappointments..some more so than others an looking at it like that has made it a bit easier for me and time heals most wounds..you never forget but it gets easier to deal with it...when you feel down look at the beautiful little girl you have created.. a little bushfire miracle!! Thats how I look at Tilly, against all odds we recieved an amazing gift after a tragic traumatic time...sorry if thats to intense??

Murraysmum great job...ouch about the tear and hopefully Murray does'nt take too long to adjust.

Sarah..I know I often look a thsoe girls who choose not to BF and wish I coud swap milk supplies??? lol each to their own I guess...I have the same problems each time this time is a bit worse, busier I guess.

Bhoysgirl, thanks I tried the herbs other times, found what works best for me is motillum got to 6 months last time, a friend is loaning me her breast pump..I have done that before as well but willhave another go..Tilly is sleeping a long time between feeds with that comp so will give me a good chance to pump and build the suppply knowing I ahve loads of time to build up more before she wakes up. Early days yet, but would you be interested in meeting up, sometime ??? and Kate if you are interested..any other Melb girls.. I am happy to travel your way..!!??
Chow!!! off to have a cuppa with the family.

wow, for some reason I am not getting the email to let me know someone has posted... Will have to check settings.

Pam: at least you try to BF more then I can say for others... Some times I hate BF 'cos its you all the time when you need to be busy getting something else done... Not easy when you have other children which want/require your attention when you are BF.
I might start expressing some soon. I have so much I look like a Pam Anderson... I could run and these puppies wouldn't move up and down.

Kate: Sorry to hear you didn't get the birth you had hope and planned for you were so orgaised with your birth plan. Did hospital staff follow any of it?? If not that would be something to bring up in your sesson. I mean why do they want us to write a birth plan if they are not going to support it???

BG: LIttle K she had off morning, but went to bed and was fine after house cleaner left. She is rather perfect compaired to other people's babies, a GF of mind had Baby 3 weeks before her and he is a nightmare up every 40minutes... Nar I am a stronge woman but I couldn't hack that. I need a least an hour in between feeds or I just get crabby...

Last night was the FIRST night Little K miss out on bath, and she knew it too. Reason DH came home had long shower then DS2 stripped of just as DH was getting out, so he left DS2 under it while he got dressed then DD wanted a shower they all used up to hot water on her.
So new rule, NO one is to have a long shower before little K's bath. After she has it spend all night in there, but not before.
I was dreading last night esp with her routine out of wack with no bath, but she only woke up for an extra dream feed at 3am then at 530am. But she had boobie for a good 30min before she went to bed, then back up twice as she just hadn't filled up on them extra few sucks... GIRLs...

Oh, me lost it yesterday with kids. What is the point of having a house cleaner only to have them come home/wake up and trash the house. So I got so crabby and mad, I made them clean it up. Did a bit of yelling at them as well, trying to make it sink in. I guess it will when their toys start make way to bin. Also a little mad a DH so I think I took it out on them which I felt so bad at afterward.
I am so over DS1 standing near kitchen gate 'cos then DS2 wants in or start winging until he gets in. he's doing it now, and I could get up and smack him bum. He just stand there swing on it some times. It there to keep them out and safe...

Well better be off sorry for rant at the end... Its a cold morning and I think I need some more wood on the fire. Will check back in later on...

There have been some freezing nights/early mornings this week. I am not a fan of Winter but thankfully we have a good heater now.

My little one is doing pretty well. We are breastfeeding which is going really well. Her weight gains are good, but have slowed a little this week. She has been really unsettled after feeding and only wants to sleep for short periods whilst being held. We saw the M&CH nurse today who thinks she has colic. Got some Infant's friend this arvo, and she has been more settled after giving that to her. We both went to bed and she slept for a few (much needed) hours.

Do you change nappy at every feed during the night? We are still using disposables at the moment but hoping to start with cloth soon. Not sure if this makes a difference. Is anyone else using cloth?

I'm getting bit confused over how and where she should be sleeping at this stage. And which 'style' of parenting i (and we) are most comfortable with. I think i am leaning to more 'gentle'/attachment style methods but DH is probably not as much at this stage. We will have to work out what we can both be happy with.

I went to the first mother's group this week. Found someone who lives in my town, so may set up a walking 'date' next week. We all fairly different but hopefully i will find some women i 'click' with.

    hope all is going well,

    take care,

    Kate

Kate: Jsut to let you know, NO i personal don't change her bum at night at all unless she has done a poo, and there is more then an hr until I get up. It wakes her up too much then I am up alot longer.

I so got a short straw. After all the sleeping issues we've had (and still have) with DS1, I was certain that DS2 would be a sleeping angel. But obviously I've done something to the sleeping karma fairies, cos DS2 will almost only sleep in the pram, or if he's being held. Not a chance of it if he's in his cot. Thank goodness for slings. And he's a bit of a spewer, which DS1 wasn't.

Kate - I don't necessarily change every time he's awake overnight. I definitely do if there's a poo, and/or if I skipped doing a change the previous feed, then I will, so it's probably a max of about 5 hours between changes. Well done on the BFing, I reckon it's one of the hardest things in the early days, even if everything falls into place for you, it's a big adjustment having some one attached to you for several hours a day.

Pam - love the idea of a catch up - just not this week though . We should talk...

well, gotta go, the little one has just woken up, and is telling me he hasn't been fed ever...love him to pieces, but he's so demanding!

    be back when I can.

    Morning all,

Sorry for short post yesterday. Was in a rush, and i'm still not getting the update email.

BG: I have same problem with Kendell, she will sleep happliy in her pram or in someones arms. Which means not alot gets done. And in a house of 6 there is always something to be done. So I put her in her bassentte, and let her have a cry. (control crying) I had the monitor on, so I could tell the wing from a cry and within 4 minutes she was alseep. I did the same last night before her I put her to bed, she only had a very little cry under 2 minutes and she was out. It's hard and DH hates it, he can't stand when people's young babies cry. Up until now he just pick her up and the little wing, so when he goes to work guess who is holding the baby???
I have a sling (ero baby carrier) and she loves it I do too, but for me, it was "ok you need to learn when it's sleep time, mummy will give you a cuddle after your feed but she has to put you down at some point, even if only to pee".. Some poeple swear by it, I did it with DS2 but not the others, I ended up rocking DS1 to sleep in my arm until he was 8 month then I just couldn't do it, and DS1 wouldn't let DH do it, it had to be me.
YOu would have to read up about it more, but I was at breaking down point thinking I just can't do this. A GF made me go and mowe the lawn while she did it with DS2 so I didn't hear him. And it was the best thing I did with him, 'cos anyone could put him down and I could go out with GF's for dinner or to movie.

Kate: how are you going now?? Don't worry about what style of parenting you are doing, as long as you are coping and baby is fine then all it good. The rest will come to you. and by now you will have many different people telling you what worked for them or what to do with your baby... BFing, good job. You have given it a go and has worked out wonderful for you. I have same issue with it coming out to fast sometime, then she just get's flooded poor little might.

Becka, Pam, Murray, Leesha, mum2B and anyone I missed how are you all going... Hand's full? How are the older silblings adjust to life with little baby???

Well I better go, the older troops are up, and possible destroying my clean house by now. also a lot of dirty washing awaits...

    Ahhhhhhh total week of hell!
Hannah hasn't been well for about 6 weeks has had three doses of antibiotics and was still coughing really bad and chesty, I took her back for the 4th time last week and she is on medicine for whooping cough! She has been immunised but they can still get evidently! She seems brighter now thank goodness! BUT the worst part is bub has got it to. He nearly turns blue at night with his coughing very scary. You are on your own with this though he has been to the docs 3 times and they can't give him anything bcos he is to young. My gp gave me a referral to a specialist at the hosp but he has no temp and is gaining weight so he just has to get over it himself! I am so sleep deprived just from watching him. He used to be a relly good sleeper but now he only sleeps for 10 mins at a time and wants boob. I have given him a dummy now cos my milk isn't filling to make boobs hard they are just soft all the time. Trouble is dummy is giving him wind, so he is in pain alot with that. I might have to substitute a bit I think, I took him to the clinic yest and he should of put on 450grm by now but he has put on 970grm excellent hey! So i have enough milk just not enough to get him really full in one feed. So hes constanly attached it feels like that anyway.
Have to go he is squalking at me

    Good morning Mummies!

Beck - that's terrible news about the whooping cough and how scarey! DH and I got immunised when we took Angus for his GP visit, so I hope it works. I can't believe your daughter still got it though... I hope you get some rest - do you have any family you can get help from. My Mum keeps offering to have Angus for long periods, but I'm not quite ready yet!

BG - we have the same with Angus. He hates being put in his bassinette if he is not fully asleep and sometimes I put him down when he is only in a light sleep. He actually started his sleep with one eye still open just a fraction to make sure he knows what's going on! So cute - but also so difficult sometimes... He's also a bit of a spewer too, but he weighs 4.8kg - 800g more than at birth, so he must be keeping some of it down.

Kate - we have had a few days where Angus is like that too, but only here and there. He needs to be held to go to sleep and sometimes he wakes up every time he is put down and cries. We change his nappies before every feed or sometimes I leave it until half way through the feed to wake him up because he falls asleep without having enough to drink. At the moment I am just going along with Angus and following his lead. I don't think we will have any routine as such until later on - probably around 6 months. He's got his own little routine anyway which he follows most days..

Anyway, he's awake now, so I better go - I hope I didn't miss anyone!

Kate I did cloth before it became the in thing lol I have to say it was just one more job!!! another thing I did'nt need on top of PND seeing as i have had 2 in nappies since I would'nt even consider it now, dispossables for me...only change when it is a poo definately not at each feed they are hardly wet.. Hope the girl through you mums group works out, I have a couple of good friends made from my mums group and now we go to playgroup together..friends in the same boat are always good..in 12 nonths or so playgroup would be a good option.

J defibantly not this week lol:0 maybe a month or 2??? Tilly travels really well, but I reckon it would knock me around at this stage after the CS and just plain old tired. I say carry your man he will adjust eventually and if he gets the sleep you will feel better too!!! I have learnt by experince DO WHAT WORKS..and if it stops working try something else. I have this theroy that they learn to trust that you will be there for them whne they need you and they become more settled babies when you don't tlet them cry for extended time frames. Just my theroy, each to their own again do what works for you ( currently on the computer with Tilly in the pouch)

Becka OMG that is one of my worst fears them getting something like that before they are immed!!! Good thing Hannah was done imagine how much worse it oculd have been for her. I hope you man is okay soon..I ahte seeing them gag and choke on baby spew etc that keeps me up at night let alone having breathing problems.

mumBXX hi sounds like you are going well, hi to the rest of you girls, hope all is well ad you are getting a bit of rest..me i am so slack I forced myself on here today..just not enough hours in a day and sooo mmaaannyyy thing s to do. Tilly is going well we seen the paed Friday next step is a BT poor baby appointment to see the surgeon JIC and follow up paed appintment they are checking her thyroid as well seeing as I have a thyroid cond. Tilly is having more comp feeds and not sucking properly at the boob so it won't be long before it is fully formula feeds a friend is sending me her breast pump but too late me thinks. I won't be able to do what I am now when DH goes back to work it takes too long.... anyway off now back soon.

For those in Vic, i would be interested in a meet up in a few weeks. Thanks all for the nappy changing tips.

Beck- how are the kids now? whooping cough in little ones is horrible. nasty for parents too, i imagine. I didn't know they couldn't treat it in newborns.

BG- Good work on the shower! lol My little one will sleep in her hammock over night but during the day - no chance. Sometimes she will sleep on the rocker, sometimes if we are holding her, other times, she just stays awake. When she really needs sleep, If i put her in our bed, and have a sleep as well (or read), she will usually sleep too. But i can't do this everyday.

I still get tired, but am feeling better every day. My retained fluid has mostly gone now, i lost 20kg in the first week after the birth. Made me realise how michelin man-esque i really was.

Pam- Is it possible that Tilly won't need surgery? Hope she keeps feeding for you and gets nice and strong. I admire all of you with multiple children plus a newborn. My mum had 4 kids under 5 (i was number 4) and i know it can be done, but i'm juggling just looking after one!

Sarah- i am doing the ponytail- or bun thing too. I considered straightening my hair this morning for about 3 seconds then chucked it back in a bun LOL. I have got out of my trackpants though! A pair of my pre-pregnancy jeans fit, a bit snugger than previously, but they fit.

Mum2BXX- i love the name Angus! He was a pretty big bub. I have decided to just go with the flow too, it's too stresssful to try to instate a routine and i want to enjoy this time. They only little once!

    take care all,

    Kate

Sarah I have been dressing myself up each morning, I love it cause I can fit into my clothes again. Iv'e been trying to make an effort in that department Haven't had a shag for 8 months so that says it all. HA!
Kate cloth nappies I found gave Hannah a bum rashes and I felt like she was wet all the time. Give them a go though if you have the time, might be diff for you.
Hope everyone is doing well take care love becka xx

I have this posted on my facebook page ATM I love it...

Whatever u give a woman, she will make it greater. Give her sperm, she will give u a baby. Give her a house, she will give u a home. Give her groceries, she will give u a meal. Give her a smile and she will give u her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what she is given. So if u give her crap, be ready to receive a ton of ****

Well Not sure how much I weigh, or have lost to scared to jump on scales 'cos then it means real work. Am only doing one day a week were we walk to town and back.

LIttle Miss only wakes twice and I still get 7-9hrs of sleep per night, and I guess I should be used to broken sleep esp with all the peeing I was doing during the night, but I guess it how much time I am up for which is roughly 5-15mins. And by the end of them I am dozing so I pull her off boobie if she hasn't fallen asleep next to it, she like to use my boobie as a pillow I have noticed. I guess it's nice and warm and if she gets hungry its right there.

Clothes will I am still in track pants, 'cos it winter time, and it pretty much the only time out of the year where I wear them. And 'cos I am too lazy to go digging in wardrobe to find clothes.

Hair, still in ponie tail. Kate I had that same idea, but my hair takes a good hr to straighten 'cos of it's legnth. Pam I am also having FRIZZ happening over here and I dont like it... Maybe it's my extra hormone and my shampoo aren't getting along.
Anyway got any recommondation regarding GOOD NON FIRZZ shampoo???

Well I am glad Becka that the kids are on the mend or almost there. It would be so scary to watch baby coughing and change a different colour. I feel for you...

Little Miss is bounding along. To think she was 4 weeks old on Tuesday. Gee that has gone quick but the last 4-8 weeks of pregnancy seem to drag. She and I have establish a flexiable routine. As long as she is wrapped up with lots of boobie in her she will sleep, during the day she has to have to TV on in bedroom for long naps. I am trying to get out of the habit of holding her to sleep, but then I think she is MY LAST so I can spoil her...Kate is your little one wrapped up nice and tight?? That might help if she isn't...

Anyway DS1 has his first school outing today, they are off to look at the changes to the trees in winter... I am going along to take photo's. He also has his 1st Mother's day stall at school. So DH gave him some money his morning which he put in his wallet. It will be interesting to see what I get. 2morro we are off to AGFEST... Big rural event down her in tassie, where all the farmers mostly turn up with cheque books to buy new equipment. I'm going for the craft section, will leave DH at the gate, while I battle with 4 children most of the day... Gee, I am a su*ker for punishment...

WEll I will go long enough little miss is still in bed and I want to grab a shower before she wakes up. All the others are dress and waiting to walk to school...

Kate you sound like you are doing really well...I doubt I'II be up for a catch up in a few weeks time???

My DH is going back to work a bit earlier than expected starts on Tuesday I am wondering how I am going to go after having him home for so long..my CS scar is feeling tender, i think it must be where its at in th ehealing process!!! At least I hope so.. after having Tilly my tummy is never goign to be the same each baby has made it worse, or should I say CS and it does'nt matter how much weight I lose I have an overhang where the scar is.. although a few peope have told me they have an overhang and they did'nt have any CS..on th eweight loss front well done girls thats amazing that you are fitting into you pants already...me have 5 kgs to go to pre-pregnancy and another 10kgs to be back to a SAHM..I hope to be there by the time Tilly turns 1..once I am no longer BF I will get started..how do you gilrs lose weight and BF..my supply the little I have drops off if I don't eat heaps of food.

Becka that was a faast recovery, I thought it last weeks and weeks and baby's had to be hospitalized...I am glad it did'nt turn out like that for you guys.

Sarah, great quote/verse and so true my DH has been giving me CRAP and recieving his share of S***.
Tilly has a cold and has been barking, mainly at night poor little chicken...it is so stressful..I feel over protective of her anyway and awful thoughts keep running through my mind..I have to keep waking to check on her, DH gave her a bottle last night and I went to bed and got a couple of hours sleep before she got there with me. Amazing how much better I feel with a few extra Zzzz under my belt.
    See ya later girls.
