ok, it's been a loooooooooooooooong week and weekend, so just a quick round up, me thinks ...
joshie is now rolling both ways. All. The. Time. But he rarely connects them, so at least he doesn't get far!!
he's put on about a kilo in the past 3 or so weeks since we've started him with the extra feed per day, so that's great.
DH and I tested out the whole sex thing, and then I got completely freaked out when I bled the next day. I paged the surgeon from work in tears (half crouched behind my desk, praying frantically that no one walked past) and he said that as there was still a small wound there, that was perfectly normal (thanks for warning me!!) and that I shouldn't worry, and it was all going to be fine.
I got off the phone, went somewhere private, and collapsed in a fit of hysterical tears for about 10 minutes, from the combination of terror, surprise, relief and exhaustion.
And then - totally wiped out, and rather puffy and blotchy - I had to finish the work I had been doing, then express, then go out to a dinner function and act like nothing was wrong...
But then there was been loads more bleeding for the next two days, so I'm thinking it's actually AF??
I have had very mild cramping today, and yesterday and today I've been going through multiple tampons, and using pads too ... and it doesn't hurt any more or any less than it normally does, so I don't think I've torn anything, IYKWIM ... Thoughts?
Anyway, I need to finish a new photo album, eat dinner, express, and then get some serious sleep because I have another HUGE week about to descend on me...
Peanutter - all i can suggest is to monitor the bleeding. If it stops in what you would consider normal time for a period, then possibly that's what it is. If not, contact the Dr again and get his opinion. The first few periods I got were heavier than I remembered them being, however that's not saying much considering I never really had a "regular" cycle to compare anything to. Nice to hear you guys are DTD again though! ;-) Its also great to hear how much weight Josh has put on.
Not too much going on here. Alyssa has started rolling over both ways this week (front to back & reverse). She doesn't do it fluently as one big roll yet, but I'm sure that won't be far off. She is also starting to do little rocking type motions while on all fours, so maybe crawling isn't too far away. We have decided to start trying for another already. Given it took us 6 years including multiple IVF attempts to get lucky with Alyssa, I can't see the harm in trying. I am feeling so much better within myself being off the pill too. I really don't like those things, something about them.
Anyway, best go do the dishes & have a shower. Take care all. xo
Peanutter Yep as Peta said, I'd just monitor the bleeding. I am yet to have an AF so can't tell you what it would be like or whether it different (yes I know I've had another baby but that was yonks ago!!). Sounds like you needed that big cry. You've been going through so much....it must be a relief that things are 'FINALLY' starting to be more normal and more positive. Great news on Joshies weight gain and rolling too....that's fantastic. Be kind to yourself.
PetaWon't be long till Alyssa is off then I can't wait to be able to put Darcie on the ground to let her have the chance at it. No carpet/rugs and dog hair all over the place (Mums dog, not mine...would you believe!!!). At the moment D just sits and then rocks herself back and forth to gain momentum forward to get something she wants...it's quite clever, actually Ooooo #2 how exciting! I wonder if it will happen easily? I know of people who have IVF or trouble with #1 only to fall pregnant with #2 much easier....I wonder if it's the anticipation of #1 and not having something else to distract that makes it seem that way! Anyway...GOOD LUCK...I hope your TTC journey is a short one!
Nothing much else going on here...DH got back yesterday so spent the night with him and the kids in a hotel...he was back to work today! Will see him Wednesday...I got him a flight in a Tigermoth for Christmas! He can't wait!
Thanks Yules! I have heard the same thing about #2 so am slightly scared. The scarier thing is that both my hubby & I have had fairly real dreams of having twin boys - aaaaggghhh!!! If we get lucky I won't be working & the things I've heard have been going on at work, I really don't think I want to go back there. A bit sad given I've been there 11 years in January, but I guess things change.
Peanutter, hope you are ok & everything is "normal" for you.
Ok, this was just a quick one, this crazy busy time of year is causing havoc for Alyssa's routine, but she is coping, just grumpily!! Speak soon xo
Peanutter not too much really happening with work; it just seems to have become very $$ focused & the managers are separating themselves from the staff (to the point they had their own christmas party). We have always had a very open, family type workplace and I know making money is the primary reason for being in business, but it should be the managers concern, not all staff's to know about. That's my thoughts anyway. All of the accounting staff are paid a retainer, then they get a bonus which is basically 45% of their gross fees less their retainer. Unfortunately admin (me + 2 others) get a bit screwed over in this regard as we are purely paid a salary (no OT or anything) even though we work a 40hr week (plus an hour for lunch each day if we get it). We had a big conference in July this year about where the practice was going & things they were going to put in place to keep the family atmosphere, but it just seems to have been a major waste of time as nothing has happened. Funny, being on leave you'd think I'd have no idea, but I'm sure I have done something for work every week since I've been away........ Oh well, the people are nice & there are lots worse places to work around the place.
Really nothing much to report here. Having a quiet one at home today, our only day "off" this week. First orientation day at day care for Alyssa tommorrow. Poor thing will probably scream the house down the whole 1.5hrs she's there. I really hope she comes to like it & I get used to her being there. If not, I will just have to give up work sooner & become a MEGA budgeter. Ok, well I might do a spot of internet shopping (well browsing) now. xo
omg - my baby girl is getting big - she is commando crawling everywhere now. I have to keep telling jorja not to leave he rtoys and crayons around becuse sheriden will eat them!
I have sent the referral to tresillian STILL waiting for a booking date though..
Warning - need to vent about christmas. Months ago I put it out there that we were having christmas lunch here at home & all were welcome. We wanted to do this for Alyssa's first christmas. I know she doesn't understand, but photo's will tell her in years to come. Anyway, the outlaws weren't coming as they were going to SIL place in brisbane due to child changeover times (divorced parents); so that annoyed us alot as there was such a big deal made about said SIL's son's first christmas and now it was like ours didn't matter. So anyway, my family are coming & that is nice. So today (a week out!!) we get a call from FIL to say that everythings changed and now lunch is at their house with SIL + kids, + grandma + aunts & uncles. WTF??!!! I am ropeable at the moment. They were asking what our plans are for christmas........well refer to your emails in September people. Seriously do they think I'm just going to say sorry my family, we have changed the day around now. Unbelievable. Sorry, end of vent. I'm quite sure DH will be on the same page as me and just as mad.
I think it must be time for a routine change for young Alyssa. She is having barely any of her first bottle of the day & then today refused to eat brekkie (not like her). She has started really mucking around with the bottle during feeds and not drinking much milk, so I think I need to space it out. I'm trying to work out though whether it would be best to keep food at traditional food eating times (eg brekkie at 6am, lunch at noon & dinner at 5pm [for her]) & bottles in between + water, or whether to just drop her 530am bottle and keep the other 3 where they are (10am, 2pm & 6pm). What do you all think?
Sunshine I hope you hear back about Sheridan soon. That's great to hear that she's crawling. Maybe it will make her sleepier and she will get better on her own. You can hope.
I'm off to make a slice while the LO is asleep. We have visitors with their 2 kids arriving at 9am tommorrow. Might fit in well with their schedule but not so much with ours!! Oh well, what can you do. Work christmas party this afternoon. Hopefully there's no bad storms like yesterday. Catch ya xo
My apologies in advance, but there is a long rant to follow......
So yesterday I go to collect the mail and there is a package for us from SIL. That's good coz she said she was sending through Deacon's chrissy present and some more hand-me-down clothes for him. DH opens the box last night while we were waiting for our dinner to cook and sure enough there is a tin of shortbread bikkies for us from them, a wrapped present for Deacon and 2 bags of clothes. DH says "what do you think this is" as he throws the present over to me to have a look. I say I think it's one of those spiky balls. DH asks if I mind if he opens it up now (we were planning on opening up a few presents we've already been given anyway so we don't have to cart them all away on holidays with us just to bring them back). I say no go for it. Well it is as we suspect, a cheapo spiky bouncy ball and a shirt and pair of shorts. DH is FURIOUS to say the least Each year SIL kids have been spoilt with lots of presents from all members of the family and we spend about $30-$50 each year on each kid too. We never minded spending this as this was also our average spend on each member of the family. Plus we also picked presents that were age appropriate or things that they had specifically said they want. Why DH is so mad is because we get an email from SIL saying that they suggest that we do a secret santa and only spend $25 on one couple instead of buying presents for every adult as there are now 5 little kids to buy for and none of us are too cashed up. This is fine coz we think okay $50 on each kid amounts to $200 for us and $100 for them on cousins plus what ever we spend on our own child/ren. When we went down to Sydney for DH to do the bone marrow op for SIL they were telling us about all the stuff they have got for their kids for chrissy (a new Wii plus a few games, a heap of toys for the boy, some nice jewellery for the girls and extra nick nacky things) and now they have only gone and spent about $15 on Deacon and bought him things that are useless!!!!! I don't know what you guys think but I'm thinking it will be at least another 12 months before Deacon is able to run around and kick a ball or to be able to throw and catch it. As for the clothes, we don't need any more as we get that many as hand-me-downs we barely have enough room in Deacon's cupboard for them all and she knows this as they all come from her, which by the way they haven't paid a cent for as they are all clothes that have been given to them as hand-me-downs from friends of theirs. So, DH is ranting and raving about how he risked his life to save hers (which he didn't receive anything other than a passing thank-you for), it cost us about $800 in travel costs etc to go down for the op (which she said they would give us some money towards this and we haven't received a cent), when we tried to organise to have christmas with them they wouldn't go anywhere because they wouldn't be able to have a christmas tree which their kids would want (so in other words a christmas tree is more important than spending time with family), they only have 2 kids other than their own to buy a present for (we have 4) and they were crying poor mouth saying that they will be having a lean christmas (we subsequently found out they spent in the vacinity of $1000 on their kids), plus last year we went over our limit and spent about $70 on each of their girls (we got them these cool skates with protective gear that were on a half price special) who then turned around and said "is that all we get, did we only get one present because you don't love us anymore" coz they only got 1 present each from us!!! Needless to say we have come to the descision that from now on we will not be going out of a way for them again and a card with a $5 trinket from the cheapo shop is all the effort we will go to from now on. Don't get us wrong, we don't expect them to spend a fortune coz we know they don't have a lot of money, but we just were hoping that our son would be treated just the same as their kids have been for the last 7 years by the rest of the family.
Phew, I'm glad that is off my chest now!!! We were talking last night about what SIL's reaction would be if we told her exactly what we think of their gift when they ask.... I soooo wish I could tell her what I think of her
Well, now that I feel a bit better after having that vent, time for some persies before Deacon wakes up.
Peta: Poo to the IL's I say. Family hey, can't live with, can't shoot em I'm not sure what to suggest with Allysa's routine as we are going through a change with introducing solids a bit more and all the craziness of christmas is making it hard to keep to any normal routine. I hope what ever you decide to try works out for you
Sunshine: Wow, commando crawling already, that's great. Hope you get your booking date soon.
Peanutter: Good luck with TTC #2. I got my first AF about 5 weeks ago and haven't had one since (done a HPT which was neg, phew!!!). My luck it will come just before we go camping for new years eve.... Big to you. Sounds like a good cry is just what you needed. On the up and up from here hun. Yay to Joshies w/g and rolling
Yules: I bet you'll be glad once you're settled in Jersey. At least you're able to spend a nice christmas here in oz with your family. We noticed the dvd's too after the photo was taken and rearranged the black cloth.
Holly: Heheheh, Deacon does the whole dive for a toy too if he sees one out of reach that he wants. He's always had quite strong stomach muscles and we had an incling that he would be sitting early on. Sounds like Carmello is doing sooo well. He is a gorgeous little thing. Thanks for the info on the elf outfit too.
Doodlebug: Hahahaha, I'm sure James will still love the TMNT stuff. Logan is doing so well too. Wow, you are a busy little bee!!! Tis the season, although I'm glad it only happens once a year....
Big HELLO to everyone.
AFM: We had a little visitor in our backyard last night. We were woken up at 1am by our side gate being rattled and banged. DH went out to have a look while I kept an eye out from our bedroom window (big scardie-pants that I am). And what does he find but a kangaroo trying to go through/over our gate. As soon as DH put the light on him he bounded away over two lots of fences and DH couldn't see where he went. We heard some dogs barking up the road later on so we think the kangaroo got into someone elses backyard too.
This christmas we are spending a few days with my family. Will be good to see them all. We drive up to Brissie (700kms) on Christmas eve so we hope to get away nice and early. As Deacon doesn't usually wake up until 5:30am for a feed, I'm going to wake him up at 3am and give him a feed so we can be on the road no later than 4am. That should hopefully get us to my parents around lunch time.
Deacon is doing well. He is now 8.5kg (no wonder my arms feel tired after holding him). He is getting up on all fours and swaying forward and back, but not quite crawling. How he is getting around at the moment is he gets up on his knees and pushes himself back or he can move round in circles and somehow goes sideways at the same time. Other than that he rolls around to get where he wants to be.
He is now starting to eat more. I'm doing some mash as well as finger food and that seems to be working. Coz I keep the mash somewhat chuky he still chews at it, which he seems to prefer. His poos are getting thicker and smellier too.... The last couple we've watched him and he has gotten a look of absolute concentration while he does them. Quite funny Now all I have to do is stop people from trying to feed him c**p (lollies, chips etc) over Christmas. I've already given my parents a talking too that they aren't to offer him anything other than proper food (ie fruit, vegies and meat).
Anyway, I probably won't be able to come back on till the new year, so
M E R R Y C H R I S T M A S
I hope you have a lovely first christmas with your little bubbies and a wonderful new years. Here's to 2011!!!!!!!
Awww Cass...Deacon has a poo face!! Darcies is pretty funny! What a bum about your SIL...I'd be annoyed too...especially after what your DH went through to save her life! It's hard isn't it...Even though SIL did that, you can't just get her back through the kids. It's so sad that they bear the brunt of it. I reckon Deacon would be able to play with the ball...Darcie loves Max's! Just to touch. Don't worry, just know that next year you won't go to as much effort. You certainly go above and beyond by the sound of it. Wo..scary Kangaroo trying to 'break in' I wouldn't want to be met with one in the middle of the night.
Peta Poo to everyone screwing around with your plans too....Try and just think of your little family, and Alyssas first Christmas! I'm sure that it will all turn out. Things always do.
Sunshine How are you goin?
AFM Things just plodding along...nothing to report! Boring! Oh...Max bumped his head yesterday on the wall and got his first 'egg' Still waiting on Visas...DH still working. Darcie is going well! Going to get her weighed in the next few days! Well better go...Darcie has just woken after her first 'short' nap of the day. Gotta head to the shops and do some banking...putting all the coins around the house into the kids bank accounts for Xmas!
Giggles, so glad my family is not the only insane one!! I just don't get them seriously. Oh well, SIL and her 2 kids are now coming by after lunch, so that will be good. Haven't spoken to Outlaws since though. Don't expect we will for some time.
Yules, I hope Max's little eggy has gone down. I'm surprised Alyssa doesn't get one given that she leans forward to kiss the baby in the mirror & donks her head everyday. That doesn't sound so good does it?! She doesn't cry though or get upset.
Nothing much going on here. I think either teeth are moving or we're approaching another "milestone". Alyssa is pretty much refusing most food except custard, yoghurt & rusks, but she is drinking more milk again. We decided to stick to the 4 bottles per day. Seems to be working most of the time so we'll just stick with it for now.
We have such a busy social week coming up. Yay!! and Boo too. Yay cause I love catching up with friends / famiily, boo because it will be a bit of a crazy one for Alyssa and she will crash come the last day of socialising. ah of, she's trying to help me type. Better go play!!

: Alyssa's typin skils suck.
Peta Maybe she doesn't cry because the baby in the mirror is kissing her back! So glad my baby isn't the only one who loves (with a passion) her own reflection! Hope you get through the next 'stage' relatively smoothly!
Yules: Thanks. Yeah, DH was "nothing for them (SIL's kids) anymore!!!" and I said we can't do that coz it's not their fault their parents are crap. It is hard when kids are caught up in the middle of things. Hope Max's egg isn't too bad anymore. We are putting money into an account for Deacon too. We had a miscalculation on what money we had going into our accounts and when I checked Deacon had more money in his account then we had in ours
Peta: That's quite cute that Alyssa tries to kiss the baby in the mirror. All Deacon does is smile and pull funny faces when he sees himself.
AFM: Just getting everything packed ready for our holiday (which is what I should be doing now but I got sidetracked when I came on the computer to check road conditions ).
Deacon just achieved another little milestone yesterday, he was lying on his tummy playing with his toys and he started squirming around and figured out how to push himself to sit up all on his own I'm happy and sad coz it means my little boy is growing up We also went and saw Santa yesterday and he though he was great. Had big smiles and talked to him.
Well I'd better get back to my packing. Have a good christmas with your little ones. Take care.
We're sick. Both boys have school sores, which although they aren't that bad, they look gross and are contagious so we're out of any playdate action for the next 5 days, My big kid also has an ear infection with it.
I have a sinus infection and the dr took one look at my blocked ears and flushed them out, lovely, I can now hear again but now I have a whopping headache and have done since yesterday morning. I also think my ab's are giving ds2 a tummy ache, we had 40mins of constant screaming yesterday with him pulling his legs up, poor kid!
Husband has missed all the sickness, but he works in retail so is working stupid hours, he got home at 10pm last night and he was supposed to finish at a reasonable time tonight so we could go looking at Christmas lights but now he has to work until 10pm again. I'm just hoping he gets out before ds1 goes to bed on Christmas eve this year, he hasn't been home in time to read a Christmas story for 2yrs now
Sorry, whinge over, I'm off to take some more panadol and watch Scooby Doo with my big kid!
doodlebug - snap ... J man, DH and I all have coughs and colds, courtesy of Melbourne's mecurial weather ... 35 degrees one day, 18 degrees the next (and 8 degrees when I'm standing waiting for my train to arrive!) etc ...
so J man is a snot factory with a nasty cough, and DH and I are bother pretty under the weather ... and J man has discovered squealing this week too, much to DH's delight ... ah me, must be Christmas ...
anyone got any tips for beating colds and coughs? from what we hear, humidifiers, nose suctioners, vaporisers, cough medicines etc only treat the symptoms, and don't actually lead to bub getting over the cold any quicker ... and so letting the cold run its course might be kinder in the long run, as their immune system gets better, etc ...
