can you try to express from that boob? give the ABA a call too! they were awesome for me when i had the mastitis (i'm not a member but you can call anyway!). if you do go on the ABs, make sure to have a probiotic!!!!!! i got really bad nipple thrush (and then Marta got mouth thrush of course) from it and it is a real PITA to get rid of...
it's a shocker mastitis, and may also be why DS was having a hard night, apparently it can make the milk taste funny. i'd offer that sore boob first as well for each feed, try to get rid of the block...
Thanks Cass. I did call t he ABA and the lady I spoke to was lovely! I have ended up taking he herbs last night and up until lunch time today and then I've started the antibiotics. I have probiotic in the fridge so I will get into that too. I am already feeling better after having a big sleep this afternoon and dh has looked after ds all day
Milly! that is awesome news YAY!!! i bet that is must be amazing to be able to cuddle, bathe and dress that bubba with total freedom!
how do you do a potato poultice?
Cherished: how's the boob? lol! not many times you can say that huh lol?!
HPL: are you getting ready for chrissy??! i was thinking of you yesterday while i was massacring my wrapping...i needed your skills...
AFM: well i am shagged today. we had a xmas party that was thrown by DD1s kindy teacher who has just left for another job (devastated!). but the cool thing is that her husband is caretaking one of the uni's properties for visiting professors, so they have the most AMAZING house. it is on the yarra river in this exclusive suburb (the renos alone cost $5million ). ANYWAY, so the yard was 2 acres so all the kids just went wild, the christmas decorations included candy cane path lights and a carousel!! so awesome! needless to say that we didnt get home to 9.30pm, and then Marta woke at 11pm and was sick she has a cold! noooooo! poor wee poppet. so we have been up pretty much all night, and then when i did finally have a bit of a kip at 6.30 a bloody bird fell down the chimney in our room!!!!! so i had to get up with a torch and pull apart my frikkin' chimney to get the poor thing out lol.
Sorry I've been MIA bub just hasn't been herself for about a week now, we thought it was just a growth spurt but she waking ever 3-4hrs and has never done that even as a new born. We've well I've been very stressed due to work stuffing me around, just because I'm on mat leave shouldn't mean I get dumped with all the crap when I go back. Anyway turns out my milk was starting to dry up so my poor Audrey was waking n crying coz she was hungry!!! I hate myself for allowing my work to effect my daughter!! So I've decided I'm leaving and going somewhere where I will be respected and not pushed to the side becuase I chose to have children!!!!!
Mily: soooooo happy that the harness is off that's a wonderful Xmas present I think!!!
Cherished/cass: can't remember who did the painting feet/hand thing but awesome I'm doing that as a suprise present for DP!! It's a great idea!!!!
Cass: PMSL as the bird flying into the chimne!!
Lack of sleep, stress of work, first aid course tomorrow, 2x Christmas' both at mine!! Aaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhhh why why why - silly girl!!!
DP looking after bub alll day tomorrow while I do 1st aid- have been expressing frantically so he has enough!! 5 more presents to wrap, my theme Pink tree with silver and red wrapping paper green ribbon on red paper red ribbon on silver lol!! It's okay I know I have OCD :-)
hi to everyone else!! Hope we can all get some decent sleep soon!!!
bloody hell where is my post again from this morning I am such a sad case!!!!!!! anyhow take 2...
Cass, OMG that party sounds fantastic! like a fairytale or something how much fun!!! another OMG to the bird how random! and little Marta I do hope she is better for santa in a few days! To do a potato polutic you just grate potato and put it on the area, you can secure it by putting it inside a chix cloth and then putting gladwrap over it and taping it down or just a tea towel, depends on how much you'll need to be moving and whatever you have. You can make them with a range of things for different issues. I used to do a caster oil one on my tummy lots when I was having issues kwim.
HPL we did the finger/foot painting, I still love them. I actually need to spray over the top with the canvas sealer stuff and then wrap them, at least that will put a few more prezzies under the tree as there are only 2 at the moment.
milly that is fantastic about the harness! oh enjoy the baths my friend. I ended up taking the antibiotics as even though the dr said I'd caught it early I still think it was a bit far gone for the natural remedies. Normally I'd be all for it. I started taking the herbs my chinese herbal medicine man gave me. I took them orally and make a paste out of them to put on my boob too. I was geared up to do a cabbage poultice but ended up taking the antibiotics instead. Now that I know what mastitis feels like I will get right on top of it if I get it again.
Well I have had a great day full of woohoos! 1st I am back in the 76's and my engagement ring fits again without looking like it's squashed on my finger! Then yesterday while I was out getting my antibiotics I bought a top which I love and today I tried on my old shorts and they fit again. So with the antibiotics totally kicked in and no more pain I did my hair, painted my nails, put on my rings, new top and shorts and felt like a million $$$$$ YAY then we had parent s group whichmust have totally wiped out ds cause today he's slept a total of 5.5 hours! not sure how he'll sleep tonight now but luckily dh will be home
Great night! (for us anyway) DS went to sleep at 7:30 last night and slept for 3.25hrs and then slept for 3.5hrs and then slept for 2.25 hours. So happy and can't believe it considering he slept for 5.5 hours all up throughout the day yesterday when he would normally only sleep for 3 or 3.5 hours. Hasn't stopped me from being vague though... dh's alarm went fo this morning and I said why do you have that on, you're not on day shift and he said I can guarantee you I am, I've lost the plot LOL
Apparently it's going to be raining for the next 4 days so I should have done the washing yesterday! not sure what I'll do today but wouldn't mind visiting someone to get out of the hosue
Didi I mention that I feel like I'm getting AF back? on and off for the last couple of weeks I"ve had that dull ache going on. Does anyone else feel like that? a girl at our parents grou got hers back yesterday and with her other son got it back at 4 months too. I hope I do get it back, then my cycle can sort itself out before we ttc again.

Just looking down that avenue for my next one after labouring then an emergency c/s i feel like i should prepare so i can confidently try for a VBAC. Anyway any info would be great if i am remembering right & it was someone in this thread!!

Hi sparkles! I did hypnobirthing and had a wonderful birth, heres my story if you're interested although I don't think I mentioned the hypnobirthing part. Our amazing waterbirth the book I read was Hypnobirthing The Mongan Method by Marie F. Mongan I practiced a few of the different techniques in there mainly one called the rainbow relaxation which we recorded our own version of. There are several different visulisation but you can just choose the ones that fit with you best As for the actual birth I tried to do the breathing and for the most part I think I did it. The hypnobirthing is really just a great tool throughout your pregnancy to keep you relaxed and focused of a positive experience rather than allowing negative stories or past experiences take over kwim and it teaches you to 'breath' down your baby rather than push. I didn't do any active 'pushing at all' I felt that 'pushing' sensation but I breathed with it rather than actively pushing. dh was my support person and he was great and reminded me to get back on track with the breathing during and waves (contractions) and in between them. That reminds me, it also teaches you to reframe your thinking and your language to positive things rather than negative. For example most people have a negative feeling towards the word contraction so we use waves instead. We use sensation rather than pain and breath rather than push kwim. Good luck with it, I can't wait to ttc number 2! I think I'm getting AF back soon as it's felt like it for a couple of weeks now. If you have any more questions just ask.
hi sparkles! i did calmbirth as well as a homebirth lol!
the calmbirth was amazing for the labour; very simple to learn and easy to apply and accomodate to changing birth scenarios (ie from homebirth to c/s etc)...and tbh i still use it even now for when i am stressed!
cassius - to do a potato poultice you grate a potato, and pt it in a cloth (old hanky is great) and hold it over the site - bandage on over nite is good. good for infections and sprains too.
sparkles - I did a calmbirth corse - was really helpful. I didn't think I'd be able to have a natural birth, but I did I still pushed - I went to sleep during transition and woke up pushing. Calmbirth focuses on your breathing, relaxation, and use of language too. And DH was a fab support person. If you really want a natural VBAC then I would suggest you get a doula.
HPL - did it feel any different for you that your milk was drying up, or just that DD was crying?
cherished - like the sounds of your new look
AFM - well, DD still sleeping thru most nights except if we've had a big day then she wakes for an extra feed, but she WILL NOT sleep during the day. Yesterday she was awake for 5 1/2 hours and then took another half hour to settle, and then was awake for another long spell in the afternoon. this "anti-sleep" is not fun!
She still doesn't like the bath yet, but I guess that will take a while....
SO hope you all enjoy the 1st christmas with your new babies. It's really pretty special isn't it We are not doing anything really just having my parents over for an early evening meal. So the rest of the day will be just the 3 of us. We didn't even buy DS anything.... Not that he will have a clue lol but I am looking forward to a nice relaxing day doing not much but watching true blood yep the addiction can't go for one day without a hit! I've already missed 2 days so I'm having withdrawals. We are up to season 3 which DH downloaded so I'm in 2 minds about how fast we get through it as once we have finished then there isn't anymore kwim.
Milly she'll soon be loving the baths and you will too. It's one of my fav parts of the day cause DS loves it so much and his little tongue tastes the water SO CUTE! we especially love doing the water over his head thing and it's just really nice for him to be clean. Most people I know massage their baby after the bath but I do it 1st. You could try that and then she'll be more relaxed by the time she gets in the bath
I'll join in the Christmas cheer: Merry Christmas to you all, I hope that it is a lovely day and that our new babies get lots of special cuddles and love to celebrate their first ever christmas!
Milly: it took Marta a little while to enjoy her baths too...i wouldnt stress too much, if she starts to crack it just pop her out and try another day. they get there in the end and she'll be splashing up a storm with the best of them!
AFM: all good here. we have the pressies in place, i cant wait for Leila to see it all (this is the first time she has really got into the build-up etc for christmas so it's pretty exciting for us! Marta has a few wooden rings, an amber necklace and a beautiful framed photo to put on our mantleplace along with other family pics...
MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing day with your families... Hugs and Kisses to all the new additionals and their brothers and sisters!! I love my little family!!
Just quickly - milk is returning thank goodness, still grizzly bubba sometimes but I'm gonna keep at it until we're back to normal!! Might already have a new job, New Years Resolution - stress less!!
HPL: that is great news on all fronts babe! yay for milk and big yay for potential new job!
AFM: we had a lovely day yesterday. hung out at home and ate and ate and ate lol!
today is a bit sad for me though as it marks the last time that i saw my Oma alive...so have been a bit emotional about it all. thank God i have my Opa here with me for lots of cuddles...
Thanks Cass, we're thrilled with all the good new ATM!!! Sorry about your Oma :-( my Nanna passed on the 22nd of Dec '97 so Xmas has been a little sad since then.... She was the last grandparent too :-( .... On a happier note Audrey has Opa's and Oma's too, no one at my work new what they were lol - which I find odd, DP family is Dutch, what's your background?
DP family Xmas was great yesterday lots of vegitarian foods very very yummy!! Bubs was soooooo good and got very spolit too!!! Now to clean the house for my family Xmas tomorrow lol!! And we're in Brisbane so it's wwwwweeeeeettttttt!!!! Hope everyone had a lovely time!!!
HPL: we are Dutch background as well! (and my mum's name is Audrey...so the spooky similarities hahahaha!). have a lovely time in brissy. used to be my old stomping ground. ATM my mum is stranded in cairns as she was meant to be driving back to townsville tomorrow...aint gunna happen me thinks lol.
Hi girls how have you all recovered from christmas? We had a quiet day and really enjoyed it. DS was cute opening his whole 3 pressies (from other people) and dh and I managed to have a spa together while DS was sleeping so that was nice. Last night was one of our best nights I think and I got a 5 hour sleep yes you read correctly and I'm so happy about it! DS had a 2 hour sleep though from 4:30-6:30 so I didn't think he'd sleep that well during the night but to our amazement he had a shower with dh, then a feed and was asleep at 8:45pm then woke up 5 hours later! after that he woke up after only 1.5hrs sleep and I again thought I'd be in for a rough stretch but he fed and went back to sleep for another 2.5 hours YAY so things are looking up. Today I'm trying to stretch out his feeds to every 3 hours and so far that's worked great, with only 1 feed lol will see how the rest of the day pans out.
Cas love the new avy! You've done a fantastic job! Is Marta wearing her amber necklace yet? dh doesn't like ds wearing his to sleep I think it's fine though, I think I'll win the argument when he's actually teething though.
HPL where do you live? I'm on the Sunny Coast and it was weeeeetttttt here too lol and our christmas was also vegetarian cause dh and I are vego
