And like others have said, sometimes you just need a bit of time for it to 'feel' right. I was the same with my DS, both names would have suited him but now I know we chose the right one.
I l ove Evangeline! It's beautiful, and I haven't heard it around much!
I have the opposite problem. When ds grows up and people shorten his name, it will be Jenny or Jen. We call him Jens, but now I worry that the other kids will make fun of him.
I'm sure Evangeline will start looking like her name soon! It is a gorgeous name. FWIW, I was all for giving my DS the normal nickname for his name. Soon as he was born, nup. He's not a "Li", he's a "Liebling"!
You can also go for a nickname completely unrelated. If I shorten DS's name then it's to Wellie (the "bling" part of his name), that ended up being Duke of Wellington and now a few friends call him Duke. Which actually doesn't sound too stupid.
I have had those doubts too yet most of the time I'm really happy! I always think of Mackenzie's name suiting her more when she's older rather than as a little baby. I think sometimes we stress sooooo much about babies names and it is important but in the end you have to choose one! I love Evangaline cause it's classic, it goes with your other daughter's name and has some cute nicknames: Eve, Eva, Evie, Lina etc.
