nah not hard to follow, everything you need is given to you, including a shopping list weekly.

The menu plans are great (both normal and vego ones), keeping to the 1200cals (or 1500-1800 cals if you are pregnant/bf) is the thing I struggled with, I had to force myself to eat that much, but I felt way better when I did feed my body properly.

The exercise plans are also brilliant, you get the choice of outdoors, at home, gym machines & gym classes. Doing your fitness test at the start properly is one thing you must make sure you do, as it helps you monitor your journey, you do another at 4, 8 & 12 weeks. I cut 1 minute off my time trial (which is a 1km walk/run) over the 12 weeks.

The pre-season is brilliant, she helps you to put things in place to allow you to succeed during the 12 weeks.

The last round I did I lost 6kgs but also lost 50cm off my body, so as I've said to friends doing it, don't be so stressed about the scales if your fitness levels are increasing and you are losing cms.
thank you for the info! whilst i do want to lose weight, i'm doing it more to get fit and not feel so sluggish and blah!

Yep Sopdet is spot on. Although I have averaged about a kg a week, for two rounds going now and overall Ive lost 1m. Its great for helping with mindset (which I find to be the greatest gift of the program), the food is yummy too and its fuss free.

Loving the excuses exercise she has us do this week. I am the queen of excuses when it comes to eating, am such a comfort eater!

Also wondering if the meals are suitable for a family, really don't want to be cooking two meals every night!

my girls are horrid fussy eaters. But that been said they have eaten almost every meal I have made. They love the meatballs, and the lasagna, and a fair few others. I will admit that I go through the weekly meal plan and swap out meals that I know the girls are not going to eat and replace it with ones they like. Thats about it.
There is nothing special about the meals, there are no special, magical ingredients. Its just normal everyday meals made with healthy ingredients. And the right protion size.
I think that what has changed for my girls when it comes to eating at home, is there is no other options. I dont have the canned spag in the pantry, the chips in the freezer, Im not a push over when it comes to meal time.
So yeah the little ones can definitely eat the meals.

Hestia, I have honesty found no reason to make two meals, the girls quickly got the hang of what was on offer, and they will eat almost everything I put in front of them.. And tonights dinner was burgers, mine was bunless, but thats because its accelerator day. And the girls loved them

The lasagne is on rotation quite a bit in this household, I've done it with roo mince as well as with beef (this is the one the recipe has you using), lamb, chicken, still to do it with venison mince. I've also halved the meat component and done it with baby spinach leaves and some extra cheese.

The meatballs rock. I did them up quite small, with some extra spices in them and took them with the cucumber/yogurt dip to a bbq, they were demolished.

Tip from one of the girls who did R3 with me, was to make up a chart on the fridge of what 100cals of different vegies equals, ie 100cals of beans = ??? g etc. This meant that if she was short cals during the day she could steam up (or have fresh) some vegies for a snack if she was peckish. This also helps with the extra cals for the guys, instead of giving them higher cal snacks during the day you can throw a couple of hundred extra cals onto their dinner with some extra vegies.

I also go through the menu plan when I do my shop and work out what I can cook ahead of time & freeze, so on a weekend I spend a couple of hours cooking and stocking the freezer. Some things like the pumpkin soup I used to make double of and take that to work for lunch instead of say the sandwich option.

homework finished - but ironically, I came home and did it instead of going for a walk with friends!

    I have questions from veterans:-

    - when will the next one get unlocked?

    - how many calories a day are we on?

    - do we "earn back" calories by exercising, or is the calorie counter set irrespective or exercise (I've never counted them back, but the phone app does...?

    - is a wii adequate for weighing?

    - when will the next one get unlocked?
    Monday

    - how many calories a day are we on?
1200 for women, 1800 for men (and breastfeeding/pregnant women I think)

    - do we "earn back" calories by exercising, or is the calorie counter set irrespective or exercise (I've never counted them back, but the phone app does...?

nope & that app is so wrong with regards to "earning back" calories
You do get to know what your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is when you input your details at the start, which is a great indicator of how well you are going along the way

    - is a wii adequate for weighing?
yes, as long as you use the same thing each week when you weigh

Thursday, i think - check your dashboard. But I think Monday and Thursday. 2 per week for four weeks.

    - how many calories a day are we on?
1200. 1800 for men. up to 1700 for breastfeeding/pregnant women (but their breastfeeding advice sucks)
(i clarify, it doesn't "suck" but I disagree that breastfeeding at six months should be a complement to solids, solids should be a complement to breastfeeding)
It's simply broken down into 300 per meal, 150 for snacks. Or 100 if you like a snack for supper.

No. I mean, you can, but you will get to your goal quicker if you don't. And Mish sets 1200, that's it. I tend to use a bit extra when I have had a long / hard workout (but it's been a while), like a banana either before or after.

    - is a wii adequate for weighing?
It will be fine, but if you are interested in body fat % that won't help you.

    Interesting, thanks girls

Question regarding breastfeeding - if Buster is having on average 3 feeds per day, do I need to add on 500 calories? Or is that only for younger babies who are feeding more? He is over 12 months. And if so, does the meal plan reflect the extra calories or do I just add them in myself with a snack or something?

I'm hardly breastfeeding at all, so I won't count any extra for that - but I'll struggle with the 1200 I think!

    Yesterday I was around 1500, today I was 1200 but I'm hungry ...

And I tend to fill up on coffee and diet soft drink, and I'm trying to cut both of those out!

Oh dear. At least have a few weeks to cut my eating back.

I've been overdoing it lately, so it's high time I dropped it back a ways anyway.

Is anyone doing psyllium husks or anything else to have a bit of a detox first?

Have a look on the fact sheets. If I link it to you I think it is commercial linking.... 12wbt dot com / member / faqs - go from there.

The site suggests that 4 feeds or more per day would require an extra 500 calories. From my experience, you give it a red hot go and tailor it for yourself. DD still has 4 feeds a day, most days (and unrestricted access on the weekends) but not of a quantity that would require 500 cals. I go 100-200 extra as most of hers are drinks rather than feeds.

There are suggested calorie boosts for each meal that are normally 100 cals each and then you get an extra 200 cals for snacks. I would start of boosting your cals in the meals and see what your losses are like and if your supply is affected / Buster seems affected. Then go from there.

I'll be signing up today after going back and forth the last couple of weeks! Cant wait! I'll be eating at the 1800cal level though as I dont want to lose weight, I want to get toned and fit (and I am still breastfeeding) And hopefully I'll have a bfp soon too Hahaha. The deciding factor to signing up was this morning with DP. Since the start of the year we have been making healthy choices, we've not had junk/soft drink since. He has cut his beer intake down heaps, is actually eating breastfast and snacks (this is a guy who would only ever eat lunch & dinner because he would never feel hungry with his work hours), and we have been cooking a lot healthier meals with smaller portion sizes. He lost 1kilo the first week, but then this morning said he'd put it back on We cant really work out why, the only thing I can think of is the food we are cooking. Thinking back on the last week we have had rice, pasta or pastry EVERY night. Portion sizes are probably still a bit big. So we need help with the food side of things, I said this morning that I will start doing more meat/veg/salad type meals. But then I realised I have almost zero idea of how to make it interesting and nice LOL! DP is a chef, he can give me some ideas but really he cooks 12-15hours a day the last thing he feels like doing is thinking up menu plans for at home as well

Pretty excited! I've been working out 2-3 times a week already, I am still struggling to get in the mindframe that it is fun lol. I need to get out walking too, its one of things that I will "do tomorrow"!

    Bring it on! Woot!

    Signed up!

Little bit scared, really dont want this to be something I start and not finish. I done the $20 a week option but its still a lot of money in the end to waste if I dont stick with it. Eeek!

Yay!! Whether its something you start but not finish is entirely up to you. Its not a hard program. Its about eating right and being active. Taking accountability for your own actions and realising that you are the one in control. If you want to start to finish then you will. You will achieve if you want to. Any excuses will become null and void, because that the person you dont want to be anymore.

Okay, so I am really tossing up whether to take the plunge and sign up or not. I need some fair dinkum honest feed back from anyone who has done this before or knows someone who has.

My situation is that both DH & I work full time, as of 18 Feb I will also be starting back up part time studying and we are currently renovating our house.

How much time do I need to dedicate to the 12WBT?? Both for meal preparation and for exercise.

Our days start at 5:30am (we spend 1&1/2 hours getting dressed, getting lunches ready (DS eats more than either DH or I so his takes forever to prepare), having brekky, getting DS up & dressed and doing any little chores that need doing before we leave for the day that I didn't get a chance to do the night before) and we leave for work no later than 7am, I have 1 hour for lunch (of which about 2 of those per week are taken up with some form of shopping), we arrive home usually around 6pm (which is when the madness starts ). After arriving home in the space of 3 hours I prepare and dish out dinner, water the vegie garden (which is huge and takes about 1 hour), do loads of washing and/or washing dishes and/or packing/unpacking the dishwasher, all whilst trying to get DS to "help" so he is somewhat occupied, eat dinner (which is usually around 8pm), get DS bathed and in his pj's, have a shower myself, read DS some bed time stories and put him to bed (usually around 9pm). Once DS is in bed and finally asleep DH & I usually collapse in a heap on the lounge and play the "who's going to fall asleep on the lounge first" game. Unless we have arrived home late for some reason and then all the stuff I try to get done while dinner is cooking then needs to be done after DS has gone to bed.

So, after all that dribble... what I'm trying to find out is, will committing to the 12WBT add to my already busy day, or do you think I will be able to make it work into our schedule?

Just to let you know, I am a secretary so spend most of my time at work sitting on my fat behind typing on a computer, which doesn't help

Your honest opinions and feedback would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to spend my money to find out the meals take ages to prepare or I need to spend a minimum 1 hour each day exercising.

    Thank you

most meals take about 15-20mins to make, some people spend sundays making the weekly meals.
Exercise is about an hour a day.
sorry typing one handed whilst feeding bub, will be back

Yeh that, I try to get my exercise done first thing in the morning before my mind has a chance to wake up and realise I'm doing exercise .

I do a cook up on the Sunday of all the freezable foods for the week & put things into containers. Easy to pull out and microwave. I also use some of the dinner options for lunches (again being able to take a container to work to heat up is quick and painless).

Also you have a few options for the exercise: indoors; outdoors; gym (both machines & classes).

Your Saturday exercise is usually the 2+ hour mark because it is the big day of exercise. I usually go for a run/walk (30mins-1hr depending on how I'm feeling) and then catch up with some girlfriends to do a 1 1/2 hour session. If I can't get the run/walk in I usually do a DVD at home for 45 mins.

The biggest question is are you and your DH prepared to change your routines around to make this a lifestyle choice? The healthy eating and the exercise. Because it isn't going to work unless you are prepared to make little changes.

One of the hugely scary pre-season tasks is to take your bin into your kitchen and empty out everything that isn't healthy out of your fridge, freezer & pantry into the bin. No eating of said food, into the bin it goes. This was scary the first time I did it in my first round (my next door neighbours loved me since they got all the foodstuffs). It has been dead easy each subsequent round because I just don't keep foods like that at home any more.
