Hey girls just a quick one from me seeing my nutritionist tomorrow kinda scared of my results! I have tried really hard this week but unsure what will happen![]()
so just subbing to the new thread catch up on personals soon xxoo
Well the talking to didn't helpno biscuits tonight, but a tub of yoghurt and a 'healthy' low cal fruit bar... No hot chocolate though...
I feel like a big fat failure and when I told myself I would feel like this before I ate, I shrugged to myself and though I don't care
I suck at this!
Boo hoo for me (no need to reply, just trying to be honest so tomorrow I can't pretend I didnt do it)
Does lack of sleep make anyone else over eat?

Sammiejane - Stop that negative attitude right now hun! Just let today roll off your back. What /who inspires you to lose weight? Why do you want to lose weight? Do you need to lose weight? Tomorrow is always a brand new day - a fresh start. Remember, what you eat in private shows in public - that saying has always kept me on the straight and narrow!
Livvy - How tall are you hun? I firmly believe that if you have fit into size 11's before, you CAN do it again. Never before in adulthood had I been in Size 8 jeans, but I've done it now - twice, after DS and now again, after DD2. Yup, I still have the mummy tummy, but that is easily disguised.
Belfie - thanks hun - and well done to you for whipping out an extra 15 mins on the bike!
TT and Beckoes - thanks ladies - this is truly a great place to be for me. Your support has been much appreciated, I only hope I can pay it back - that goes to ALL of you in the thread!
well thats one for the fridge!!what you eat in private shows in publicyour an inspiration Leesa.
SJ....i have had a terrible few days...let it go and let tomorrow be a new day, thats what i have to work on too, i hold on to that feeling of failing more than i hold on to the kgs of whatever bad ive eaten!! one bad day doesnt make a failed effort, just a glitch, a moment, it doesnt cancel everything else out.....im telling myself that by the way, not youhugs
Morning all,
Sorry for the woe is me post last night
a few personals, just from the last page otherwise i will be here all day - apologies in advance if i miss anyone, its not intentional!
Leesa _ way to go on hitting the 50's thats awesome, i cant believe you had bubs after me and have done so much - AWESOME!!!!
Beautitude - well done on you loss too
TT - dont be hard on yourself hun, you have A LOT going on in your life
Welcome StarBright
Goodluck today Miss K
Livvy - you have such a great attitude
Belfie... i sish i had a bike or something i could do indoors, i have a Xtrainer, but when DD2 came along, my workout area became DSS bedroom so it is stored in the garage with PILES of junk!
Leesa to answer your question... i think this time i want to loose weight for ME... in the past it has been for DH or to look good for others... but this time i want to look great for me and put on clothes and feel great and know that people arent looking at my muffin top etc ... sounds incredibly vain, but i think that its the right reason...
Beckoes - thanks for the lovethe est thing about in here is by supporting each other we are drumming the same message into ourselves
OK, so back on track today - I will loose this weight... I am aiming for 1/2kg a week at the moment as i think that this is more realistic for me.
You all have inspired me to see the 60's (as in hit them) as my first goal - 5kgs to go
Weigh and measure is Sunday...
Thanks for the welcome everyone!!!!
Leesa.. i am definately up for any ideas!! At the moment the immuno sepresent of the steroid is what is helping my eczema (possibly psorisis, the derm cant decide!!) So i am slowly weaning off the steroids and going onto a stronger, but different kind of immuno suppresent called methotrexate, which doesnt have the same side effects as steroids, but will do the same thing to help my hands. (sorry its a bit confusing!!) At the moment i am taking 10mg a day of oral prednisolone (2x 5mg tablets) dropping by half a tablet every week. So as of Monday morning i will take one and a half, and go from there til i am on none. I have been on them since february (and i have gained about 10 kilo's since then) so apparently i have to wean myself very slowly or i can do damage to my body naturally making whatever it is that the steroids make my body make... So, if you have any ideas that can work around that hectic schedual, im all yours!!!!
livvy Hi, yeah i take the oral steroids for my hands, the creams dont do anything!! I moisturise like mad too lol, i have only suddenly gotten excema since being a mum, i never had anything at all all my life until about a year ago!! Its been a horrible year of dr's and creams and pills and very sore hands!! lol (and weight gain to boot!!!) Hopefully these new meds that i am starting will help and i will get off the steroids and move along the weight loss!!! I had to laugh, i have been doing star jumps when the kids jump in the trampoline!! lol The keep wanting me to hop in too, but i m too heavy for the weigh tlimit on my own let alone with them!! So i stand nex tto it and do star jumps!! lol DS loves to do sit ups with me, so thats always a winner!! He either sits in front of me and gets a kiss every time i sit up- or he sits next to me and tries to do them too!!! He thinks excercising is fun, which is great that he is learning that!! He also likes to do the yoga on the wii too!!
I owuld love to be able to get to a class, but I only have Dh to look after the kids, or my aunt and uncle who work during the day and live like 2 hours away!! I might look into a place that does a creche thing, but that costs money !!! That was the idea of the wii being that i could do it at home... must get more batteries!!!!
Hi Tinsel!!!! Maybe we should get together for some wii fun!! lol Or even just a long walk with the kids next time i am in the city for the day!! i will let you know!! :-)
Tellytubby.. Well done on your positive thinking!!Its so easy to get all depressed and eat, (and you have reason enough to be sad
) So a huge GOOD ON YOU for seeing that it would only really make you feel worse!!!!!!!!!!
Well done!!!!!!!!
Beckoes.. I am loving your goals!! I might pinch some, i did start a food diary to see if stuff i was eating was effecting my whole hands saga too, but i gave it up, i will pull the book out again and give it a go!!
Sj... Its all about the hurdles!!! Its ok to stumble sometimes, thats the best thing baout threads like this, there are peole to help pick you up and pop you back on track!!! Its not easy to loose weight- or everyone would just be able to do it!! I like your reasons for wanting to loose weight, thats mainly my reason too, i want to feel good again!!! Keep up the good work that has gotten you this far!!!!! You CAN do those last 5kg's!!!!!! YOU WILL REACH 60- OR BELOW!!!!!!!
Well today i vow to hop on the bike while DD sleeps (however long that may be!!) and to do 50 situps!!! I wont be tempted by the choc chips bikkies in the cuboard.. i will eat fruit instead!!! And i am not hopping on the scales coz i just dont want to know right now
Wish me luck...
Just wanted to pop my head in here. I'm 4 weeks PP so I'll be waiting another couple of weeks before properly starting my weight loss journey.
So basically I'm short and fatAbout 164cm and currently sitting on 74kg. My goal weight is 60kg, but realistically I'd love to get to about 57kg. Pre-preg I was 77kg, and at 40 weeks I was 89kg
So 15kg lost in 4 weeks. I put that down to stress, BFing and not eating much
My main issues with losing weight:
-Eating. Not so much eating better, I still indulge, but generally I eat well balance foods. It's frequency. I could eat 1 meal a day, or sometimes two in one day and none the nextSO not healthy or good for me. So I need motivation/ideas to get 3-5 meals into me a day.
-Exercise. I'm really unfit and get puffed easily, as well as big boobs...I'm scared of that burning, suffocating feeling in my lungs! Need to move past that. I really like walking and cycling, I'm thinking of picking up a secondhand exercise bike for the lounge.
So yeah, that's me atm. Tips and advice would be great![]()
Hi PZ... Welcome
You are the same height and weight as me!
Well done on your weight loss so far, go easy on yourself, you have a lot on your plate (no pun intended!) right now...
Try eating regular meals, even if they are small, will help even your metabolism and also your milk supply
I have found regular meals and snacks have helped my appetite and naughty snack during the day (night tine is another story!)

Welcome PZ!! Its great that your starting to get right into things before they get harder!!! Eating well is ahuge thing for me too!! I am a snacker so i will snack all day and then it comes to meals and im not hungry!! (duh i wonder why??!!) and its meals that i try to eat well.
I have a question about excercise for anyone who may know.. so ok, i get on the bike and do a bit, take a break, do some more... is that AS effective as doing it all in one go???? Same with situps, my goal today is 50, but i will probably do that in two or three goes, like 20, then a few hours later 20 more, than 10 kind of thing. Is this worth it????? Should i try to do them all at once?????
hey all! well have been up and out for a walk and a play at the playground already today and got home for lunch- had a meeting so not really my own motivation lol
hmmm... so to catch up...
leesa - am 170-171cm so about 5'7" and have always had quite wide hips (let alone now...), size 10-11 being my minimum pre preg size on bottom. top am not concerned about so much as still have quite a narrow waist (although still about 6-7cm to go to get back to pre preg) and shoulders and have never really carried much weight on top...
starbright - i would totally recommend a food diary then hun, cos there must be something in your environment that has changed (also pregnancy and BF actually dry out your skin considerably as well, but not that much!). also worth thinking about are things like washing products like what soap or body wash you use, what laundry powder or additives, what moisturisers and make ups, whether you wear gloves for (everything in my case) washing up, nappy bucket, cleaning etc. whether you drink enough water or too much caffeine. what products you use on bub's skin, bum or bath, whether you use wet wipes or water and a cloth... all those kinds of things. if i wasn't as strict as i am with my and bub's environment then i would probably be pretty similar to you (truly) as if i do something that aggravates my skin then they end up (within a day or two tops) cracked and bleeding and excruciatingly painful. also have you thought about flaxseed or fish oil supplements?
sammiejane - not vain, is totally about you and your self esteem (vanity would be how you look for others, not yourself). i am absolutely with you on this as this is what i want too. i want to feel gorgeous and attractive and not like a potato person
pumpkinzulu - honey, even if you just have a few ready made meals in the freezer and fridge (whether from friends, family or the supermarket) that might help you out a bit. your bub is still so young and i remember having things like single or serves two packets of soup, curry and risotto in the fridge AND freezer when bub was teeny as i didn't have the time or energy to cook. it really helped as then i could just take one out of the fridge and heat it up and bung whatever i didn't use back in the fridge. you need to eat well both for your recovery (birth is BIG on the body) and if you're BF then for the quality of milk for you little one. other things are like individual sized tins of tuna (flavoured or not) or salmon or sardines in the pantry and then you can just rip into one and have a burst of protein. cos honey, the guidelines are generally to not lose more than a kilo a week so 15 in 4 sounds dangerous for you health not to mention bub's... have you got a coffee group or friends who are mums too? or just someone who you love who can drop in once or twice a week, wash your dishes, do your vacuuming and make you a casserole or something? i aim for three meals with protein (breakfast, hot lunch and hot dinner) and a snack or two if i'm hungry (usually either raw fruit, veges or nuts).
miss k - hope the nutritionist went well
belfie - well done on the cycle!
beckoes - hope your goals are going well
tellytubby - hope you're having a good day today
everyone else - ditto!
Just subscibing for later. Weighed myself on Thursday and lost 700grams for the week. I was stoked with that. Hopefully I can get below 80kilos by the end of July (currently 81.3)
Welcome PZ.
Leesa thats a great saying and so true what you eat in private shows in public lol. I love it.
SB I have no idea how effectice doing exercise in intervals are but it would be way better then not doing it at all. I know when I was doing WW years ago you got more bonus points for the exercise been done all at once. So if I did a 30min walk it was an extra 2 points (you could spend on food) but if you did 3 lots of 10min exercise it would only be 1point.
My exercise for yesterday was loading firewood into the trailer which involved alot of walking (from the tree it was cut from to the trailer and lifting). Today I went for a small jog but hope to go for a walk later.
Wow this thread is buzzing!
Mildez - woo hoo that's awesome! Great exercise too. I've read the same thing about the exercise. If you do it all in one go, you get your heart rate up & keep it up, which is better for fat burning... whereas if you do it in 3 lots, you don't have quite the same result. BUT, 3 lots is still better than no lots!
Livvy - ooh can we swap shapes? tehehe. I thought my hips might get bigger from having kids but instead they're smaller and i'm just even more top heavy! Isn't it a bummer when they exacerbate our problem areas? I don't know how it would go with getting back to your original size, but i"m sure that exercising & getting fit would give you the best possible chance. The body can take a while to settle back down, so I would think you've got a good chance.
Starbright - oh now i realise where that question came from, and you can see what I said above. I also found that while I was recovering (VERY bad hips/pelvis during PG) my osteo said I was better doing things in small lots and with good technique rather than doing one big session but fatiguing and doing it poorly... so I guess I just gave a reason to do it in little goes after all! I often do 2 lots of 30 mins nowadays. But just depends on the kids & what I can fit in.
PZ - welcome. I know the big boob feeling, 'orrible ain't it. the bike sounds like a great idea. And two bras on for walking. I have dropped 10cm off my boobs, and it feels soooo much better. Like you know... "hey, I'm back here. Yup, there's a person behind the boobs!" My other suggestion would be food diary - that way you'll keep yourself honest about eating properly. And plan your meals if you can. Makes it much easier if you've pre-decided what to eat.
SJ - can you dig out the Xtrainer & find s'where to put it? I imagine it would really help with reaching your goals. Plus I reckon moving all that junk would burn some cals too hehe. GL with your weigh-in on Sun. Oh and there's been some articles around recently showing that sleep deprivation impacts metabolism & eating patterns for sure. It is harder to do, but can be done - if that helps.
Leesa - rrarrrgh hottie! And I ended up doing 60 mins on the bike, I was really proud of myself. And I am gonna put a new battery in my HRM. When I've cycled this week I've been checking my HR a few times, thanks to you.
AFM, well I'm wearing my new skinny HAWT jeans all week cos I can't believe how good they look tehehe. I bought 2 smaller bras, but I'm still getting a bit of over-boob action depending on where I am feed-wise... grrr. So that's incentive to try lose some more, cos they're SO close to fitting properly. And they're from target... 12E... there was no bigger cup size. I stuffed up yeseterday & didn't eat properly in the arvo before Zumba (I have dinner after)... then I was knackered! Got through the class ok, but driving home... omg so tired. So that's a lesson for me - fuel up properly Belfie! I got my 59.8 on Sat, but promptly weighed in the 60's for the next 3 days
so annoying, but finally I'm back in the 50's again. I don't think I'm up for a big loss tomorrow, but we'll see. I do weigh everyday. I have a food malabsorption issue and whenever it flares up I retain a lot of fluid and my weight can spike up & down by 1 or 1.5kg. Or if munchkin has a smaller feed than usual that can impact too. So I find if I weigh daily I get less discouraged if it happens to be a bad result on weigh-in day, cos I know how I'm tracking overall. Earlier in my weight loss journey I noticed that I always ate really badly for a few days after a gain and then exacerbated the gain. Now I'm finding I can stay more focussed and less discouraged - as I know it's probably just fluid. It took me a few months to really work that out on an emotional level tho.
I've also set myself a time-based weight loss goal. My loss so far has been right on 0.45kg per week (since start of march). If I continue at this rate (which seems pretty doable) I'll be 56.2 on the 10/9 (a week before DD's 1st b'day) by losing 3.6kg. So I'm pretty keen to do that. Losing that 3.6kg is my minimum goal. I think I want to be 55-56kg. I've even bitten the bullet & adjusted my sig too. Thinking that in 8 weeks I'll be done is a great incentive, as opposed to when I started and just tried to take a fairly long-term view. I will also admit that I think setting the weight loss goal in a timeframe can be a trap. I reckon in general it's better to set behavioural goals (i.e. exercise & food) and then see what loss follows. And if you don't get the losses you wanted, then you obviously have to tweak s'thing with your food or activity. Just my little soap-box thought for the day.
Hope you're all doing well. I'm off to vaccum & dance while I do it.
well done mildez, great loss!
thank you belfie! am hoping to get to the 60s myself ...one day...- also you reminded me:
pumpkinzulu is only 1 pound (not kilo) per week while breastfeeding that is recommended as a healthy loss, i.e. 0.45kg. hope that helps hun.
well this week feels like it has been light on exercise and heavy on carbs, but in my defense i have had the most rotten head cold since monday (still feel shocking - phlegm and exhaustion). hopefully next week will be better. will curb that ache for comfort food (toast being my favourite one). have been dipping things in hummus when am desperate and that sates it ..well, mostly...
bleh. time for brain switch off in front of friends i think. night all - hope you're feeling better than i do right now.
Well i have been on and off the bike all day.. Dear DS has taken the batteries out of my bike (darn battereies!!!!) so my time counter/calorie counter isnt working, but i probably reckon i did a good twenty minutes all up, but it was in dribs and drabs while i could. (hence the question before, i suppose as everyone said, yes bulk is best, but some is better than NONE!!)
I didnt resisit the choc chip cookies thoughI had four. In my defense DD stole half my sandwhich so i ate less lunch !!!
And i have done 25 sit ups so far, i will do more tonight once the kids are sleeping i think!!
So i have decided ok, the excercise i was doing stable-ised my weight, so i just have to do more and i should start to loose some!!! So more bike, more situps, i can do the boxing without the wii- it was really just punching lol i can do that... I am going to see if i can get a normal old fashioned aerobics dvd or something i dont need the wii for and start doing that. And maybe i will start running around my yard lol We live out in the bush (not bush bush- but sticks lol) no good for a pram walk, but the fenced bit of the yard is an ok size to do a few laps, and i can see the kids wherever they are while i run!!!
Food is going to be my biggest thing, i live on bread and pasta... i need to do some researching and learn more about what i should be eating!!!!!!!
MOTIVATION HERE I COME!!!!!
SJ - That was the exact reason why I wanted to lose the excess weight too hun. I don't think you're vain at all hun (if others do, then they may as well put me in the same basket!). I found it was the only reason which really motivated me to lose weight - I straight out - hated my reflection, every window I could see it in at the shops was a constant reminder to keep on track and not lose sight of my goal! I think its the best reason to lose weight too by the way!
Starbright - what has your GP / specialist said about weight loss with the medication you're taking? So far I'm thinking you'd have to cut calories (do you know how many you'd be eating daily? If so please share as it'll help me figure something out for you!) and really up the ante on the exercise to start seeing losses on the scales. How is that sounding? Best length of time to exercise in one hit is 30 + mins, and if I could be so pushy as to suggest doing 30 mins first thing in the morning, before you eat breakfast, to burn off fat, then last thing at night to help burn calories at a higher rate.
PZ - I'm glad you're with us hun. If you've read any of my posts I harp on and on about how exercise releases the 'feel good' endorphines without leaving behind any guilt factor (which naughty foods tend to do, thus making any initial feelings of pain / hurt ten times worse). So next time any bad feelings hit, take a walk with Miss Isla, or opt for a healthy snack of protein (almonds are my fave lol) as they keep you feeling fuller for longer. I'd suggest to just start with brisk walking daily and if you can get a 2nd exercise bike - do it, just to change it up a bit and help stave off any boredom when it comes to exercise.
Livvy - yup, size 10 -11 is definitely do-able hun - if you've been there before, you can be there again! If you're going for carbs, please, for me, opt for wholemeal or grainy type bread (if you're not already doing so), come on hun, regardless of having a cold whilst I'd let you off for not exercising I won't let you off for being naughty food wise (sorry, tough love is creeping out there hun! *hugs*). I hope you feel better soon!
Mildez - that is great exercise! So well done hun. You know they do all sorts of crazy stuff on the Biggest loser, rolling tyres, pushing and lifting tree stumps etc! The more 'odd' the move, the more chance of hitting the muscles we wouldn't usually have the chance too during 'normal' exercise!
Belfie - my hawtie! I reckon if you try to beat your own 'personal bests' by using the HRM you'll really be going places...But who am I kidding - you already ARE going places hun. You've done so so well! I reckon the goals you've set are pretty good - though I reckon you can get that 55-56 by the end of August!
Beckoes - Nah, anyone can do what I've done - it's just determination and having the right motivation.
AFM - Still continuing on the loss cycle - only 100 grams, but i'll take it. I've got a 'back to back' Body Attack class followed by Body Pump tomorrow morning (I'm doing the Attack class just for fun, but am instructing the Pump class). And I've got to instruct the same back to back class (but Pump first then Attack) on Tuesday night. DH is happy that I'm instructing again, but only because it's at Fernwood FEMALE fitness lol!
Just wanna say - its great to have heaps of people in here! The more the merrier. But forgive me if I accidentally miss someone in replying to personals!
thanks leesa darling! tough love i definitely needed right then/nowam trying so *so* hard to be strict lol (and it helps that we make our own bread - rye with plenty of seeds and stuff in), but usually say "NO NO" to refined carbs (so anything made of flour...) after 3pm but today had two vitawheat crackers with hummus...
and am feeling like i have a food baby of mushroom soup that was bad and added a spoonful of cream cheese (not even lite dammit!) to... but tomorrow is another day and will be started with 45 mins of pilates as is my class, so yay! hopefully will be the beginning of a better cycle for me!
sorry for utter self involvement guys... just felt i needed to write this all down to get myself back on the straight and narrow! will do some pilates after my shower too as want to watch a show at 9.30 and have 40 mins so quick shower and then TO WORK!
thanks leesa, you're an absolute wonder!![]()
woohoo! just updating - 20 mins of pilates down with particular focus on legs as noticed inner thighs have indentation (as in getting thinner) just above the knees - they are no longer straight line of fatness from hip to knee! is only small, but yay for getting better shape! this is one of the particular things that has been depressing me! also need to get the tops of my thighs thinner... any tips? last summer they brushed together when was out walking so bad that they got all chaffed... so embarrassing, but there you are. big fat fatty right here... but not for too much longer (i hope!)![]()
Ok Leesa. I'll commit to making the 56's by end of Aug... if I can up the ante just a bit - and lose 0.5kg instead of 0.45kg/week than I could do it. It sounds so small a difference, but it still challenges me, cos I know how to do what i'm doing lol... so I'm gonna try really just count the weeks down. So saying, I'm scared that I'm not going to see a loss this week. So it's off to the trusty bike for me now!
