Well i weighed in this morning and had a 700gram loss. I am happy, but to be totally honest i am a bit disappointed, i dont really know why, each day my jeans feel looser (i must wash them though to see what happens then) and i feel better, but i think with everyone else pulling big losses i was expecting a bit more... but then i guess the recommended loss is 500 grams a week, so i did more than that.... gaaahhhh i am just rambling now.
A few thoughts after reading your post. Firstly, totally agree with what you said about the recommended loss per week. I sometimes feel like the turtle in here... averaging 0.45kg per week... plodding on. Folks have come in & out, losing bigger numbers, but then sometimes dropping off the radar. But hang on, i've lost 10kg now. Slow & steady is a GREAT way to do this, you will be there before you know it (but I know that impatient feeling too). Try not to worry about others with big losses... focus on what YOU want to do!
Secondly - TIRED mumma. So much harder to eat well & focus when you're tired. Thirdly - you're tired, you're BF'ing, you're trying to eat well. I'll be quite honest here, if it was me, I'd eat the darn pie. You need food in you to do what you want to do. If you're eating well all day, one meat pie won't knock you out of the ball park. I reckon I've had junky takeaway about once a week. I have fewer chips & try to have a salad... but honestly eating super perfectly when you're busy with young kids & tired.... DOES NOT HAPPEN! DO you have a pattern? I had a big fortnightly pattern even when i exercised & ate well for the whole fortnight... one week bigger loss.... next week smaller loss/same/or even a gain. You might be really surprised with the number next week, you never know.

And finally - woo hoo, great loss SJ!

SJ - Look at the bigger scheme of things, in a few months time you'll look back and see how far you've come and you'll be able to say 'I did that'! Remember, the journey is just as important as the destination!

SJ - That is a great loss hun! Don't discount any loss as just 'ok' - EVERY loss is one step closer to the 'big goal'! Without it, you'd never get there . One kilo of fat takes up more space than one kilo of muscle - that's why you're jeans are looser now, you're losing fat and increasing muscle = burning more calories quicker! I'm so proud you resisted the fries - great work. Those kinda situations will pop up every now and then and it sure sounds like you're on track to combat them!

Belfie - Did you find that HRM ?

3littlemonkeys - Hun, can I suggest that maybe you just do this weight loss journey on your own? You can't rely on someone else, no matter how close they are to you, because as you've identified - if one falls down, the other can fall down like a domino effect, if that makes sense. I know it does make it heaps easier if you're both on the same page. You CAN do this hun!

Mildez - way to go re the size 14 jeans hun! What a great step hun! How has your DH been support wise? Fitness wise, considering I have a 14 wk old I'm stoked with where I am. I love being able to fit into my old clothes, and just have the energy to load 2 toddlers and a newborn into and out of a car, run around with them etc - I just wanted to lose the weight before i return to work (which was going to be Sept), and i've done that now and its not even August - so yeah, I'm really happy.

Sterla - How are you going hun? What have you been up to hun?

Tanstar - great work on the loss hun! Very impressed !

Starbright - its totally each to your own when it comes to weighing, I found it motivating and it really kept me honest and on track; but others no doubt have their own ideas about it. You'll find your groove hun! Whatever suits - and I'm so happy with your losses too. I know what you mean about being too skinny, DH doesnt want me to go back to my 'lowest' weight - which was 55kgs, I'm 58 now and I even think I'm starting to be too scrawny - so (get this) for the first time in 10 wks, i did not exercise! O.M.G huh? That is so not like me lol! Curves are great, my DH loves them too!

AFM - I don't really have much to report - I'm still trying to work out my 'maintenence' groove. I don't want to even post what I consumed yesterday and still managed to maintain!! It's a bit trial and error - but so far I'm doing pretty well!

Fat Chic Slim girls - look out for the next challenge! ;P

Tanstar - as for the Level 1, 2, and 3 exercise plans - I tend to agree that itd be good as an 'extra'. In fact, i'd be inclined to mix them in to some sprints. Example, 2 x 20 metre sprints - then stop and do 20 lunges; then 2 x 20 metre sprints - then stop and do 20 jumping jacks - and keep doing things like that.....that'd be some great training I might even have a crack at!!!

I never seem to be able to find time to post here, but I am reading.

I have been going okay. I haven't been counting calories, but I haven't been eating junk (which is a huge change to what I was doing). The thermomix definitely helps - have been eating a lot more vegies and haven't been tempted to get take out at all yet.
As for exercise - I've done a short ride on the bike both nights this weekend just gone. I'm pretty unfit, so couldn't go for long - managed 12 minutes last night. Better than nothing though, right? Can't wait for my new pram to arrive so I can start going for walks with the kids.

Sorry for lack of personals! I'll get to it one of these days!

    hi girls

    can i join in here?
i came in here about a year or so ago but it all got too hard and i gave it away
well, i'm back and looking for some support to get this done! i've been quite unhappy about my weight recently and i want to do something about it.
i've just been looking at weight watchers online and am considering joining up. has anyone else done this? it is just too hard for me to get to meetings with my 2 little boys with me all the time, so i thought that might be a good option.
anyway, i'm going to get my hair cut but i'll be back this arvo to meet you all

Welcome Ginger. I did WW online years ago and it didn't help me although I don't think I tried to get the most out of it. I did loose weight but found the online part a wate of money. A friend however at work did it and found it really good. I didn't know what I was doing wrong.

Sterla great news about healthier change in diet. 12mins on the bike is great. 12minutes longer then you were doing last week right? I'm not sure what a thermomix is but I'm going to have to have a look into one. They sound awesome what ever they are.

leesa not really getting any extra support from DH. He looked pleasantly delighted to see me eating cake last night (lucky he didn't see me go back for 2nds). I'm sure he was laughing hard inside Yesterday he commented on me in a smaller size jeans so it must be getting obvious now. He also commented on my extra large bowl for dinner. His certainly not been mean but certainly no support from him either. As for baby sitting the kids thats a complete no go and now he is away again this week . I do miss him terribly but its also so much easier to exercise and eat healthier when he isn't here. I saddled my horse up yesterday (after having him tied for 2hrs waiting) and all I managed was a walk down around the sheep whilst DH carried our screaming baby and complained the whole time. He didn't even try to pacify her so I ended up giving his (the horse) for DD to ride instead. Thats great news that your were you want to be at with such a young bub. I think my bub must be about 2weeks older then yours.

Sammiejane and StarBright well done on the weight loss.

I had a naughty weekend. Atleast Saturday I did alot of exercise to compensate but yesterday I did 21mins on the wiifit and my 5min horse ride. I ate 2 steak sangas for lunch which wasn't neccessary and I had 3 pieces of cake. Worst of all was the cakes were as I was jumping into bed. I also ate some montecarlos. But this time after my blow out I am straight back on the wagon this morning. I'm not going to give up like I have in the past and I'm pretty sure I can still expect a loss this Thursday if I have a good week. I'm abit disappointed with myself but I'm back to been super keen and motivated. Can't wait to make another pot of vegie soup for my snacks today.

Will BBL. Need to fix DD up. My precious baby slept from 930pm-730am. Clever thing she is. She has done that twice in the past week (only time ever) Hopefully it starts becoming more regular. She is my 1st baby to do that under 12months old

Welcome Ginger! I did WW online initially last year and lost about 6 kgs, it was good for me as I was thinking about what I needed to eat but having said that I am finding that My Fitness Pal is identical - forum support, and tracking that is the same plus you can download the app for free as well and track on both like you do with WW but it is free. There aren't any recipes there but Calorie King has some and I just find if I google healthy chicken or something that I will find what I need. Good luck on your journey hun - loads of ace support here!

Mildez - Weekends are hard aren't they :hugs: Get back on it hun - the thing I keep telling myself is that I am not ON a diet, I am always going to have to think about making healthy choices. I am human and there are times where I know I will make some terrible ones and did over the weekend but that is ok. As long as I don't slide back into just eating whatever I want when I want. We can't all eat perfectly all the time and life would be perfectly boring without a Monte Carlo every now and then! (Or a chicken burrito as the case may be with me ) Yay for your DD - you feel like a new woman when they do that! My DS on the other hand, nearly 3 was up at 5:20...nuff said.

Sterla - Yay for the bike hun - I read a great motivational thing the other day that had a picture of someone exercising and it said "No matter how fast you are going you are lapping the people on the couch" repeated it to myself yesterday when I had to walk through one of my run sections on C25K. Baby steps hun and if you exercise regularly you will see how quickly you will be able to increase your time. When I first started running I could hardly run for 1 1/2 mins and then had to walk the rest of the way and got up to running almost 3 kms non stop. Happens fast xoxoxo yay for the tmx too!!

Belfie - What deliciousness are you cooking up this week hun? Jealous of all your tmx chickies!

Leesa - I forgot all about doing any more push ups ooops. Will be in the next one for sure! 58 is awesome hun!! You are an inspiration! I am heading for 60 but 58 would be even better!!

Ok official weigh in for me today was 800gram loss! Yay go me! Bought lots of healthy things yesterday too to make my week a bit easier - off to MG now. Oh and I measured last week but clearly wasn't too accurate because I was way out when I remeasured today - anyone know of a good site that shows you where to measure and how???

Tanstar great news on your weight loss. I don't know a good measuring site but I should look as I think my measurements are inaccurate. They fluctuate to much for me to be doing it right.

Hi everyone - not a lot of time to do heaps of personals, so I'll just say congrats to those who lost this week! Woohoo!!! Can't wait to join you in the Loser Club

Welcome to the newbies - like me - I'm a newbie.. haha

So the weekend was basically the start of the new "me". I made up a diet plan of what to have for breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea each day, so I have a plan in place, and don't have to just grab something because I'm hungry. So far so good, the only time I went off it was on Saturday arvo, I had chocolate custard in the thermo - but its bout 150 cals per serve when divided up, so its not TOOOo bad.

I've replaced my morning juice with water, and make sure I drink a big cup of water at every meal. So even if its the only water I've had all day, its at least a litre cos the cup is huge that I use. We've stopped having ice cream of a night time, and have frozen yoghurt instead. My best snack yesterday was 4 tablespoons of low fat yoghurt with some peach slices and half an apple in it. It was sooo yummy!!!

My biggest habit to break will be the chocolate and lollies we had every night (yes, EVERY night) while sitting down and watching tv. So last night I grabbed some gum instead. My normal routine would be grabbing a handful of lollies while getting all the kids clothes ready to put on after their bath, I'd go to one room with a handful of lollies, dump the clothes in front of the tv, grab another handful when going to another room, and so on... thats a lot of handfuls. So last night I just drank water instead. So far so good.

I also did some wii sports active thing yesterday - omg - I was absolutely buggered after 14 mins... LOL... DH made up a custom thing with LOTS of boxing (and I mean LOTS) and the rest was running and some inline skating (so squats and jumping squats) and then some squats at the end. My butt and legs are a bit sore today.....and my arms from all the punching!!! LOL

So fingers crossed I can keep this up - might go for a walk today up to the post office - get some exercise in which won't hurt my sore parts...

Good morning all!!!! It got busy over night!!!

SJ.. I think slo and steady is the way to go mate!! I had big losses at the start of the week- but i am conviced it was fluid and now its going to be slow and steady from here on in!! We can plod along together!! Just think of it as how slowly a bub grows.. it takes a good nine months for them to go from nothing to a something!!! So picture the huge change that you will see in you in nine months!!!

Leesa... are you ok?????? YOU DIDNT EXCERCISE????? Just kidding!!! I was wondering what changes would be made to "maintain" and no tlose.. (just dreaming about when i actually have to think about that ) And i guess it means you can be a little more relaxed about the excercise!
    Waiting for the new challange!!!!

Sterla!!! YAY for 12 minutes on the bike!!! Thats a great start!!!! :-)

Ginger!!! Hello!! Welcome to the losers groups- where its cool to lose!!! I have never done WW or anything like that. I just use the free online calorie counters available and rely on the wonderful ladies here for knowledge and inspiration!!! And my wii!!

Mildez... Still slappin your DH for you!!! That is all!!!!

Mrs NB... Well done on resisting the lollies!! I miss my night time chocolate so much!!! It didnt seem like a lot, and some nights it would be in the fridge and i wouldnt have any, but it was there if i wanted it!!!! LAst night i wanted some soooooo much, lucky there wasnt any there!!! Its hard, but we can do it!!!!!!!!! I love the boxing on the wii!!! Its one of my favourites to do.. i havent tried the ice skating yet though, i migh thave to give that a go today!!

Tanstar... Well done on the loss!! I did my measurements last week- but i am waiting til after leesa's 6 week challange to check them again!! Im also not sure exactly how to do it, if it makes sense, i just remembered where on me i did them to start with so i will just do the same spot. Well done on 800gms!!! Woo Hoo!!! And go the healthy snacks!!

AFM.. I did no excercise yesterday, except a feeble attempt at carrying some wood from the shed to the house! But i ate well, and i maintained- no loss, but no gain!! Makes this week a total loss of 2.3kg!!! HUGE!!!! Dh is home again today though- so not sure how much i will exercise, but i will make sure i do something!!!! :-)

    Have a good day everyone!!!

    Hello ladies!

Well after my whinge yesterday, I am back to it. Not quite as enthused as I was yesterday, but still...DH has put on 2.5kg which he was horrified at, lol! So he's back at it too, with a vengence.

Leesa, I hear you when you say I should do this for me. And I am. I know I shouldn't rely on him to help me and I need to conquer this by myself eventually. But right now I am struggling with the demon of not sleeping much (with a 2hrly night feeder!) as well as a bit of depression. I have very little energy and motivation and having DH there with me is a big help. I'm hoping that we can support each other, and then if he falls off the wagon, I will be into new good habbits and will be able to stay the course myself. And even if we fall off together, well I will keep on trying until it sticks I guess.

Sterla, I'm struggling to just go for a walk on mostly flat ground (time-wise and fitness wise), let alone ride a bike, lol! I'm sooo unfit, inflexible and weak. I have never been so unhealthy in my life. I really hate this feeling. Good on for dedicating that time to exercise, maybe just put the time up a minute or two every few days, before you know it you will be going for 40min rides!

Ginger welcome! I have been in and out of here so many times I'm sure everyone is sick of me these past few months. But I am going to keep on trying. Eventually something has to change. I do want to lose weight and get fit and healthy, so something will stick eventually. I know it will! I have already lost 3kg from my after baby weight (at 6wks post partum), so that's a good thing. Adn it hasn't come back (yay!).
I have used WW, thoughnot the online one. I lost 10kg on it several years ago now. But I find it a great tool. I think it helps you learn the tools to make weight loss successful. If we could afford it I would do it again, probably online too because I have 3 kids 4yrs and under, who would create total mayhem at a meeting!

Mildez, you are doing great hun. I'm proud of you that you're not letting your little blow-out make you fall off the wagon. I'm hoping I can do that too. I'm trying! And lucky you with bub sleeping so well! I will cross everything that she keeps it up! It makes this weightloss thing so much easier when you're well rested! (It's actually scientifically proven!)

Tan, some great advice hun! No we're not on a diet, this is life. Eating crap occaisionally is ok, just not all the time, which is what got me fat in the first place! Congrats on your loss too, you go girl!!

AFM, back to it today. I will go for a walk later too, I need to let off some steam! We have had a horrific few days with the kids tag teaming with sickness. My poor hubby had only 4hrs sleep yesterday with work and being up and down with the kids, last night he didn't get much more. I didn't get much either, though I'm used to it with being awake with DS2 every 2hrs. Poor DD can't even keep water down, though if she has the same thing DS1 had, it shouldn't last too much longer. Hopefully tonight will be a better night. DH is totally snappy and my house is a bomb, I have to wash about 4 changes of bed clothes and pillows and towel that are covered in vomit *gag*, DD is whiney, DS2 is teething or something and DS1 is just bored and nagging me to do stuff. I don't think I will get time to really think about eating which is good, then I won't want ****ty food! I will be buying a bbq chicken later and making some chicken and veggie noodle soup (though light on the noodles and lots of veg!). Some home-made oven baked schnitzels, boiled baby 'taters and salad for dinner. I also got some 'dipping' veggies (carrots, celery, cucumber), chick peas to make hummus and some low fat greek yogurt to make tzaziki dip. Now, to conquer Mount Washington.....yuck.

Woah, new posts while I posted!

Mel, I'm doing the water thing too. I used to drink so much water, but now I just don't I can get to the end of the day and realise I have not drunk anything but a cup of coffee and a tea. And I'm bad with night time eating too. Especially when DH is on night shifts. I eat when I'm bored and lonely and to relax too.

Starbright, like I said, I eat when the kids go to bed too, I break out the junk food because I don't wnat them eating it in the day time, so I hide it from them and munch on it when they're asleep. So I am just stopping it. At 8pm, I will brush my teeth (rather than just before bed!) and I won't eat anymore I hate eating for a while after I have brushed, so it should work! Or I'll have a green tea if I really feel the need for something. I have also started knitting (yes I know how very 'Nanna' of me!) but it keeps my mind and hands busy, plus it will be a nice (I hope!) gift for a fwe friends who are having bubs in the coming months.
    And wow, 2.3kg lost!! Excellent!

Morning ladies. Sterla, I am the same, reading and no time for posting late at night.

Everyone is doing so well. Starbright you are doing great

MrsNerdBerger, I have the Wii EA Sports Active which helped me lose 5kg last year and I got Active 2 for $39 at Target on the weekend (bargain!) and I like that it has a heart rate monitor and that you don't need the nunchuck. I think I will make a custom workout as well to do more running and cardio.

I weighed/measured in this morning and I'm a bit depressed now. There's been no change in measurements and my weight is about the same. I initially weighed in on the Wii but I wasn't so sure about it so finally got batteries for my digital scales yesterday, weighed in this morning and I think I will start it from my weight today which is 74.9kg. I really need to ramp up the exercise if I want to see a loss. I have been calorie counting for a week now and I have mostly done well. I had a couple of days where I went over my limit so I'm getting used to what I can eat and I am drinking at least 6 glasses of fluid now which is much better than before.

I have a really grumbly 2 year old so I best be off. Have a good workout today everyone!

Tanstar thanks for tell me its not a diet. I keep telling myself it is and soon I'll be where I want and can eat what I want again PMSL. Like I'd stay where I want to be if I do that.

3LM I too have been in and out of this thread from before I got pregnant, then another pregnant one I ignored and gained like 30kilos when pregnant and then this one on and off too since DD was born. But on the good note most times I come back in here I am down a little from when I was the time before. When I first came in her when DD was 6ishweeks old I was 88kilos and now I'm under 80 so I'm so happy with that considering I often end up bigger then I was the weight loss effort before the current one IYKWIM. BMI is getting close to a health range so all in all I secretly know I'm doing well to be at this stage when bub is 4months old. Great to hear your sticking at it after a knock down. Its so hard to leep it up sometimes and that first week I always find the hardest.

SB about slapping my husband heres a good one lol. I told him he wasn't supporting my efforts to loose weight and he said he is because he woke me up at midnight from a shag to help me burn calories. I should't be so hard on the poor man. He watched bub whilst I went for a walk/run and gave me some money without me asking so yeah I can splash on some more healthy food. I think maybe he might accept it now I don't know. I guess its too early to get excited yet. Woohoo on the loss this week.

MNB sounds like you have made some really dramatic changes to your diet habits. Hope your rewarded with a great loss this week. I too was in habits like that with the lollies although mine was buy a large chocolate and eating it all in a 2kms drive home so DH didn't know I did it.

I went for a walk with some run intervals today on my own. 1st time for everything right? I was able to go as DD was sleeping and DH was home prior to going away for the week. I can really notice my fitness has improved and OMG I have so much more energy. I actually run about 300m first up when last week I struggled to job 50m and I don't feel as jiggly (except the poor boobs) I went heaps further in the same space of time and did alot more run intervals and actually felt a little free-er in the joints then I did last week. What a difference a week makes. I also managed to do 8 push ups. Last week I was stuck on 3 and then I hung the washing out and then did another 5. Its still incredibly hard but what a difference a week of exercise makes. And you should see my calves. I'm not saying I like them but I've been doing alot of the step plus one the wiifit and they look and feel so different. Maybe even a little buff hehe. I still have a long way to go but what a change already. Even the cellulite is only half as bad as it was 2weeks ago. I get so excited until I see how much more I have to go.

quick post here too - I was doing some health coachign with Diabetes Australia and she was saying that drinking water really helps you to lose fat. So for the ladies struggling to drink, that might be some extra incentive to get 2 litres into ya!

Measuring. I always measure hips - widest bit I can find. Waist (just above belly button - mid-way between hip bone & bottom rib - bearing in mind that I have no waist, I actually get to my thinnest point just under my boobs - but that SO isn't my waist ). Boobs - widest bit (no bra - makes a difference if you're in diff bras especially if gravity is working it's cruel magic on your once pert girls!). I find this is pretty consistent way of doing it if that helps. I also look in the mirror as I do it, so I can see what I'm doing.

    Gooooooo everyone!!
