the uk/us thing is my fiance is from the states i have to wait for my college course to finish before i come over on green card, which is gay. However i stay in the states at every chance that i get for up to 3 months at a time. The two years is the date i will be able to stay permanently over there we see it as better to wait until then thats all. Complicated yes, worth the hassle yep yep.
