Hi, glad to know there is many out there who are the same. I was diagnosed with PCOS last year, even though I think i've had this for many years. I even asked my GP to test me for it a few years ago, - he told me I was just overweight and needed to lose weight" (for some reason i've never been back to him) I've got two sons, now 15 and 10, the eldest was conceived on the pill, the other after 3 cycles with clomid. We have been TTC ever since 10yo was born with no luck, my cycle has always been regular, i've been on clomid a few times and started on metformin in jan 07. I finally conceived in Oct 07, with no clomid, i hadn't taken any for about 2 months, but mc at 8w, wonder how long it will take to conceive again?

PCOS and the long wait for AF

    Hi Belinda,

I too suffer with the symptoms of PCOS. I went off the pill in May 2006 and had did not get AF for almost a year. Went to one Dr who told me "let?s just wait and see if AF does arrive" I then was recommended by a friend to another GP who was convinced I had PCOS. Then referred to F/S who is fantastic!! Had the U/S and confirmed that I have a large amount of cysts around my ovaries, plus the symptoms including no AF. Went on my honeymoon in September and had my AF for two and 1/2 weeks!!!

Did my first round of Clomid with being on Provera first to get AF. Had all the side effects of Clomid: hot flushes, insomnia, and abdominal pain without the big O. Only a 3% rise, so I am to go up to 100mg next cycle after taking Provera to get AF. Having a hy-co-si scan this week to check for any surprises, and my DH still needs to get himself tested as he responds with yeah yeah Darl!!!

So this is a long road with hopefully a small little surprise is coming to us soon!!

    Hiya
Just thought I should add that I too have PCOS and my story is basically I came off the pill November 2005 and had 2 periods between then and falling pregnant in August 2006. I unfortunately lost my baby at 24wks (NOT related to PCOS) but fell pregnant again within 3mths (1st period) and I am due to have my baby in January 2008.

What I am trying to say is that even though your periods may be very irregular that does not necessarily mean you have to wait years nor take clomid/metformin etc - I fell pregnant both times without any assistance.

Wishing all you ladies out there loads of 'sticky vibes' and 'baby dust' - don't get despondent when it does not happen IT WILL!!
    T.
