I don't subscribe to the term "parenting style" as I think it just makes divisions between mothers when we should be supporting each other - sorry off track there a bit....
But I did this with DD1 as a technique to get her to stop her night feed. She was a bit older and didn't really need that feed. She would cry, I would comfort her and then she would go back to sleep without her feed. It took a few nights but she stopped waking so I assume that it worked. I don't know that it is something that works with really young babies but as they get more aware it can be a good technique.
