Trying to Conceive with IUI #2

Amy and Alloy - sorry to hear about your BFNs

Amy - my clinic if definately open on weekends. They will do bt, us, epu, iui and ET on any day of the week including weekends. (They do charge more than most other clinics - probably to re-coup some of these extra costs).

I have been in for US and BT on both Sat and Sun mornings - that makes it US and BT on 5 of the last 7 days. My FS is paranoid about multiple pregnancies, doesn't even like twin pregnancies. (Will only ever transfer 1 embryo with IVF - no matter what).

Because I have had 3-4 follicles without a dominant follicle, she has asked for repeat US to see how things are going. This am there was one 15-16mm follicle on left (which has come from nowhere!!!) and one 14-15mm follicle on right, with a few small (8-12mm) follicles on each side. Clinic is now happy that I'll have either 1 or 2 dominant follicles so wont need any more US!!!! I haven't started to surge yet so another blood test tomorrow am. I think they would like 1-3 more days for the follicles to grow bit more, but say as long as 14mm or more, they are likely to contain a mature egg.

I suspect IUI will now be Wed or Thurs. They are not good days for my DH (who often starts work at 0700) so will probably end up using some of his previously frozen sperm.

Anyway hopefully will proceed more smoothly from now on, already feeling exhausted (from all the waiting!!!) and haven't even made it to 2ww yet!!!

Just had a call from the clinic. My LH has started to rise so will trigger this afternoon for IUI tomorrow lunchtime. Tues is a better day for DH, so hopefully will be able to use fresh sample.

Hi Ladies,

Alloy sorry to hear that you also had a - this month.

AF started over the weekend and I went in for my scan today and they have found a large cyst on my ovary so I have to have this month off 'to let my body rest'. It is so frustrating....they have said that when the cyst has gone that we can start treatment again.

Kaydee, how are you going hun? Fingers crossed that the spotting means nothing, and theres a BFP with your name on it.

Hope everyone else is going ok!

Just got off the phone with the clinic, to confirm what I already knew, BFN.
I couldn't get an earlier followup appointment either, so now I might have to have 2 months off, rather than one (depending on how my cycle decides to go this month, it can range from 22 days to 28 days). AF is being nasty this month, bad cramping, and bloating.

Hi girls. Hope you are all doing ok.

Alloy enjoy your few months off before FS appt. It's hard when the cycle doesn't work but at least you've got a date to count down towards. Will the clinic ring you if there are any cancellations and they can move you forward?

Amy how are you doing? Very frustrating for you not to be able to jump into the next round. Hope your month off goes quickly.

Swirl How did your iui go on Tues? Hope your TWW flies by.

Fi Not long now until your BT. Do you feel different at all?? Hope you bring some positive news to this month!!!

I'm still spotting and waiting for AF. Today is cd33. I've HPT and it came back -ve so I'm pretty sure this month isn't our month either... Last cycle off was long and it wasn't until day 35 that AF arrived. Anyway, the next few days will hopefully tell and we'll be able to start a new cycle of oi-iui soon.

IUI went well. 13.9 million sperm which i think is good but not great. Apparently good is anything >4million, great >20million. Officially in the 2WW. I'm having extra blood tests this cycle to make sure prog is high enough and to see whether I need extra LP support. First bt and pregnyl is on Saturday.

Good luck to Fi and Cherie and anyone else still in the 2WW. My beta bt not til Thur 5th June (16 DPO) but AF will come by 13-14 DPO if not pregnant

Amy, very frustrating to have to take a break due to a cyst. Have they told you how long it will take to go away?

Well ladies as you know my test was tomorrow (friday). I couldn't stand the wait any longer and asked to be tested today. Clinic called 1 hr ago and I have a BFP!! I just want you all to keep your spirits up, whatever you are enduring at the moment and know that you will get the BFP soon!! Best of luck to all of you, I will check in on a regular basis and see how you are doing!

OMG Belinda that is fantastic news

I spoke to my FS yesterday because I have been having pain on my LHS and they have said that when the cyst is bursting or reducing in size that it will usually be painfull. But I suppose that is a good thing and hopefully it is going away and I will be able to start treatment again next month. However they have said that sometimes it can take a few cycles before it is gone

I'm so happy for you Belinda, you have made me start to think whether it is worth doing more IUI's or to go on to IVF.

I really had a feeling it was going to be your month when you said about the issue with the sperm. You and your DH must be doing some major sober celebrating now!
Not long for me now till my BT, really dont know what to think this month

felt down last night as sure AF was on her way, as AF like pains, but then they disappeared. AF is due tomorrow, BT on Monday. Belinda did you have any symptoms like AF was coming? Did you feel any different? Did you inject pregnyl ?
Hope the rest of you ladies are also well, and sorry Amy to hear that you are having to wait this cycle out, how frustrating! I know how you feel about it being tempting to just go to IVF! I think I will also do that if we are not lucky in our few months trying naturally.I dont think i could handle the stress of an iui cycle again, as no doubt I would be on the verge of cancellation again.

Hi Fifi and Amy,

Yes, we are celebrating - me sober, DH having a few beers as I have had him on the beer ban for the past 6 weeks!!! Thanks so much for the warm wishes, I'm finding it hard to believe I'm actually pregnant.
Fi, I don't have any symptoms at this time. I did ask the nurse this morning and she says it is just too early for them. Usually about 6 weeks you will get MS and sore BB's. I'm going to enjoy it before they hit!!! I will tell you what was different this cycle and please don't take what happened to me as gospel, but every other month I have had Af type pains for about 1 week before Af was due. I didn't get any pain this month what so ever. AF type pains do happen when you are pg also, so I now how confusing it can be. As I have said before, it ain't over until AF sings at the top of her hideous voice!!! I honestly don't feel any different, and no I didn't have to inject pregnyl this month - thank god!! I did have to use crinone cream that is inserted twice daily. This is just another form of support but progesterone instead of the HCG.
Amy, I was in the same position as you. Dh and I seen FS and had the chat. When he told me that IUI was 10% success rate and IVF was 45%, we knew we wouldn't do another IUI. And after finding the issue with the sperm I'm glad now we did decide to bite the bullet and do IVF. It is a big step and so much more invasive than the IUI, so take some time to really think about the decision.

I haven't been able to bring my FS appt forward, and I don't think the clinic will ring and offer any cancellations, so I'm going to have to wait until the 10th June. Which isn't too bad really, DH and I are looking at booking a skiing trip to NSW or VIC for June/July anyway, so the break is a good thing.

Hi Amy

No, I didn't have a break. I was given the go ahead for 2 iui's from FS. When I got to 1 week before my pg test for second iui I was a little uptight that I didn't have an action plan for the following month. I was very pushy with my clinic and insisted on seeing FS before end of the cycle. He ended up seeing me on the day before the pg test and by then I had started to spot. We then discussed the ivf and he told me I could go onto the short protocol as my Af was regular to the hour basically and I had responded well to the drugs with the iui. So I had appt with FS on Tues and started injecting on thursday for ivf cycle. I think the only difference with the short cycle as opposed to the long is that you don't seem to get as many follicles (at least that is what i was told). I ended up with 9 on the lowest dose of gonal f. I did decided however that if this first ivf didn't work in my favour I would have a 2 month break. My body needed a rest after all the hormones that we are pumping in. I am so glad now that I was a pest with regards to the appt!

I'm now at cd2 (finally) and I have to go in on Tues for an US and BT to make sure everything is baseline and ready to start another round of oi-iui. Hoping all is normal and I'm able to begin.

Kaydee all the best for this cycle , i'm sure everything will be all set to go, your clinic sounds more through than mine, I never had a scan to check that previous folies had disappeared. Are you interested in having a double iui? Hopefully I will be a good advert for it, if AF continues to stay away

Hi Ladies,
Just writing to say I am out this cycle as well

. Went into clinic and had blood test this morning instead of tomorrow as work changed my hours. See FS on Tuesday but will be trying naturally now. Feel I definately need a break and if that doesnt work will do IVF in a few months. Good luck to the rest of you ladies!
