I was induced with my first (drama queen) because I was five days overdue and it was 5 hours of hard labour with some lovely pethadine for pain relief. Second baby broke his own water (still an easy going child) at 7am two days after his ddate, labour pains gradually increased to that same unbearable level but only lasted one and a half hours and by the time I thought I needed pain relief he was ready to be born. I recovered much faster after my second birth, could have been due to not being induced and having no pain relief.

This time I'm much older (eek) and have diabetes (double eek) so they are telling me I need to be induced at 38 weeks. Going to try to bring labour on naturally but am happy to be induced if there are possible complications such as placenta breakdown. Both my babies have been over 9lbs so I'm not worried about having a big baby. From my experience gravity helps!
