    Hi all

Sorry for no personals, just posting very quickly before dinner.

Just on recent topics of discussion:

My lactaction consultant said it was fine to give bubs camomile tea in a bottle, verrrry weak, as in two jingles in and out, to help calm them.

I have a Medela Electric and have been pumping to establish my supply and it is great.

Oooh. I finally get to post here! I shouldn't technically be here, given that my princess decided to delay her appearance for 9 days, but I can't leave my belly group!

I won't even try to catch up on what's been happening but hope to get to know the early April ladies soon. Hi to all my belly group. We're all here now except Kat - I think we need to drag her forcefully if Molly doesn't come soon.

Things are pretty hectic still. Elena is just starting to slow down with the feeding - it was up to 6 to 7 hours almost constantly for the first couple of days but now that my milk is in she's settling down - thank God. Don't think my nipples could have survived much more of that treatment. Izzy is struggling to accept a bit of competition in the house but hopefully she'll adapt quickly enough and know there's enough love from her mummy and daddy to go around. Not sure how I'm going to cope on Monday when my DH goes back to work and I'm left with the two of them. Fortunately he works all the way upstairs so if things get desperate I can just start yelling!

Anyway, off to do something about dinner. Both my princesses are sleeping soundly so better get on with it while I can.

    to you Danielle.

Have you talked to your local ABA counsellor? They may help you through this tough BF time... I've found mine to be very accommodating & supportive. Not judgemental at all.

I'm sure you're doing a fine job as a Mum... enjoy the nice moments and the rough ones will settle down. Not sure what else I can say to help

danielle, you are NOT a failure. I can relate to the feeling, two c- sections and one failed bf attempt with my first. the only way we fail is when we fail to seek help! i was determined this time and i'm doing it.

one of the first things a pro will tell you is that you are losing your supply due to comp feeds. comp feeds are a no no when trying to increase supply. ditch the formula and get into bed with babe is my suggestion, and undress him to wake him up to feed more. drain the one breast completely. plus, the trigger to the brain to make more milk is frequency, not length of feeds.

can you describe to me what he does at the end of a feed? how many per day are you at? my good pal had a 10lb8ounce babe and she had to feed a LOT, and felt odd compared to her belly buddies who were progressing faster - she thought a big baby meant less feeds (more advanced so to speak). the babies know what to do, and if it is frequency for a week or two, give it one last bash. then if you go to formula, you know you gave it all you could. but a professional of some sort is essential as you need to pin down the issue.

don't be hard on yourself. you're doing great. get some support, cos you CAN do it this time.

Danielle - hugs to you sweetie. It sounds like you are having a rough time of it. Like a few others have said, have a chat to a ABA councelor, they are great and then at least you have given it every chance possible. You are doing a fabulous job, so don't be hard on yourself. Things WILL get better, and no matter what the outcome (breasfeeding or formula) you are a wonderful mum... a bad mum would not even care.

I can't remember who asked, but I have a medala swing and it is amazing. It was recommended by some of the premmie mums I met in the special care nursery in hospital (they have to pump exclusivly so I'm guessing they would know!). The midwives also recommended it as it is the home version of the symphonies that they use in the hospitals. Also endorsed by the ABA. I had VERY sore nipples when I got home and had to pump after each feed to establish my milk, and it was very gentle.
