Gosh new thread already!
KirstenF: You crack me up. As a former social netball player (we were called the Smurfs. My t-shirt said 'Grandpa Smurf' not due to age reasons but due unfortunately to fitness/skills reasons), I am impressed that you went back to playing so soon. Centre no less. That's the hardest working position. Laura is certainly tall enough to work the goal post though. That's a big, healthy bub you have there!
Kim: glad Hayden is back to normal now after his shots. Willa has hers next Friday and I'm anxious if she'll have any sort of reaction to them.
For all the other ladies who have already taken their bubs to get their needles, do you think its worthwhile investing in that numbing gel to apply to bub's skin before the shot? My MIL just said its worth looking into to reduce the discomfort. What exactly happens for the shots? One needle or more and how long for? Most likely WIlla will handle it like a champ, but will I handle it alright or will DH have to be on standby to catch me? God, I am such a wuss. I was so out of it from lack of sleep when the heel test was done at hospital that I don't actually remember much except Willa screaming her head off and me thrusting my boob in her face (which works well for pretty much most upsets).
Regarding drooling. Yeah, it has started here too. Not much but when we took the pro pics last week, we did have to pause for a few 'mop at face' breaks before resuming.
How come you guys have such substantial MCHN checkups. Mine was downright uneventful in comparison. WIlla got weighed and measured and I was asked if there were any problems. MCHN didn't ask about head lifting, tummy time (and we had been practicing too), motor skills or anything. I brought up those things. And I was asked if she needed to check WIlla's hip joints or if I was just going to leave that to my doctor for when we get the shots done. I thought, well if its that much of a bother, I'll wait for my GP to check that. Sheesh. Is it just a luck of the draw thing for which kind of MCHN u get?
Oh and my first mother's group meeting is tomorrow at our local park. We are coinciding the meeting with the visit of the Magic Yellow School Bus that comes around to the park once a week. This means there will be a zillion other parents and older kids running around, which in hindsight might not be the best thing for a sedate mother's group...
i'm off to buy a gro bag online now because WIlla appears to be channeling Harry Houdini. Anyone using one? How well does it work in place of swaddling?
nighterz!
