Thanks for the food tips girls. Will definitely start to get more adventurous - avocado here we come!
In saying that....I am starting to wonder if Monkey is reacting to the yoghurt I've been giving her at lunch - this is the 3rd day we've had it and the last 2 of these she's been really unsettled and screaming in pain about an hr or 2 after lunch - yest she had it with banana and today with pear, so not sure. She also has a slight rash on her face today??? Think I"ll give it a break for couple of days - could just be coincidence.
And speaking of toys - I was just saying today to DH that I really want to get some blocks... musical instruments sound like fun too - good idea! Obviously some of you have a real piano.... Monkey has a great little (very old, 2nd hand) Fisher Price piano and she never fails to amaze me with just how clever she is - she learnt the cause and effect nature of it (ie. press the key and you get music) when she was only about 4.5 months!!!
Catherine, without wanting to sound too opinionated (but I'm sure I will, sorry), I think you should try to impress upon your paediatrician how bad Elouise's vomitting is... it sounds to me like he/she might be dragging the chain a bit in diagnosing it as true reflux. I have heard that the Mylanta (even the special baby one) is primarily supposed to be used as a diagnostic and temporary thing for babies - ie. if the Mylanta works, then it means they need the "real" stuff. Again, please don't take this the wrong way, as I have no idea what type of relationship you have with you paediatrician, but have you thought of getting another opinion? And regarding your own health - if you think you want some help - go for it! I saw a psychologist for much of 2006 and have recently started going again (it is pretty much the only time I ever leave Monkey) - I have anxiety issues and now I'm a parent, lots of stuff from my childhood is rearing its ugly head - anyway my point is, talking to someone REALLY helps me, so I would recommend it. And I know this is an online thing and I'm one of the one's who likes to keep some anonymity, but I notice you are in Sydney and if you don't have support to call on, I would love to offer any help I can.
