jj - ru feeling flu-ish? my gp said as soon as you feel that get some antibiotics
Hi everyone,
Justa quick one here too. I think I have a blocked milk duct. My right breast started getting sore last night. Then my DD decided to sleep from 10-730 so I was engorged this morning. I had to express it and it hurt. I put her on to try and drain it all and it killed. I then had a warm shower and tried to massage it. There is a hard bit on the bottom. Hopefully massage and heat can get rid of it.
I dont want mastitis.....
Sorry for the lack of personals. Will come back later for that.
jj - ru feeling flu-ish? my gp said as soon as you feel that get some antibiotics
I have made a docs appointment to be safe. I dont feel 100% so I guess better to be safe than sorry
Hi All,
Sorry I haven't visited for a while. Getting up her for some time on the computer is getting harder and harder.
We just had a weekend away to the Gold Coast for a wedding. Zoe pretty much slept both ways on the plane. Only a little grizzle on the way down coming home so i just whacked her on the boob and all was good! It was nice to escape the Melbourne cold for some Queensland sunshine. We even spent the morning at the beach one day...had a swim and all!!! Lovely!
Jen - I've had a blocked duct once (that never became full blown mastitis) and then full blown mastitis another time. From my experience, what you are doing is fine...massage and feeding first from that boob every time. If it doesn't improve in 24 hours then it's probably not going to and it will end up as mastitis. Good plan going to the doctor....i did that the first time and got some antibiotics just in case. I didn't use them that time but then i had them in the cupboard for the next time when i really did need them.
It has to be one of the most painful experiences ever...worse than childbirth i reckon!!! So I hope you get better real soon!!! DO you have a supportive partner who can help you stay in bed until it all passes?
All the best Jen!
So far it is a blocked duct. I do have a script for antibiotics just in case. It is very sore to feed from but I am gritting my teeth. I even have the cabbage leaf stuffed in there right now!
Thanks Danda. I wish we could getaway to QLD. How lucky. And Yay on Zoe being a good girl the whole time.
I wish everyone a good sleep tonight.
Hi Everyone,
So sorry for the lack of posts lately, bit busy with training a new girl at work to take over most of my workload..would love to retire any day soon...lol..
Noah is doing really great, he is so much fun! I love his smiles and giggles, I actually dont mind waking up to him at midnight if he is a bit restless, I look forward to it..lol... at the last check 2 wks ago he was 6.7kg and 65cms long!
Jenjams, wow sorry to hear about the blocked duct!! I hope that it settles down soon for you!!
Danda, thats so nice to hear that Zoe slept so well fo ryou on the plane!! We fly to perth on sat with Noah, and I am nervous!!! Hopefully he is as good as Zoe was! Did you enjoy the wedding? That day on the beach mst have been bliss!!
Prama, cant wait to hear when Lakshmans passport finally arrives!! I bet it will be a relief for you to finally recieve it!!
Esme, I am the same, I let Noah carry on when I put him down for a while..I too just grin and bare it!!Yay on the passport!!! How cute, his first passport already!!
Melissa, WELCOME!!! Sorry I am so late!!...I am a WA girl too....originally from Perth (grew up in Pemberton and Rockingham), but currently up North..We have Noah who was born on the 20th of Feb.Our only routines for day sleeps are that he goes down for a sleep after we drop DD off at school (8.30am), then we will go into work until lunch (11/12ish) and come home for another feed/sleep and up again until about 4/5pm then up again at 9pm and then we dont hear from him again until about 6am..
Sue, great to hear that you are getting some rain!!!
Jacki, so nice to hear that you have been having great weather in Perth, we are coming down on Saturday, we havent been down since Oct last year, so many rellies to show DS off too...I just cant wait to do some shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and I am looking forward to wearing jumpers !!Its been so long!
Ohhh I know that I have missed people...I am so sorry..
Nic
Jen - the cabbage leaves were awesome for me too! I filled the script and had the antibiotics at home ready to go when needed. It can get bad very quickly. A friend of mine had serious complications from mastitis including heaps of abcesses that needed to be drained. She had to give up feeding and is still on antibiotics 6 MONTHS later! nasty stuff!!
jj - glad you got a script, i hope you never need to use it.
danda - hurray on going away and a hassle free flight. im getting more and more apprehensive about our trip.. eeek.
minky - always great to hear from you! thanks, cant wait for his passport, just checked online and its been printed. despatch date is still next thurs.
wow, noah is growing so well. well done, hun!! xoxo
katkins - still thinking of you
Has anybody heard from Katkins? I Hope she is going ok.
Danda- Your poor friend. That sounds terrible.
Minky- Sounds like Noah is doing beautifully for you! I spent some time in Kununurra a few years ago and only needed tracksuit pants once... after we got the rain from a cyclone! Have a great time in Perth,
Melissa- I forgot to say welcome to you the other day. You have a cute little one there.
Prama- Fingers crossed that Lakshman's passport arrives very soon.
Hello to everyone else.
My duct is a little better this morning. The cabbage leaf must have worked. I have a half cabbage in the fridge just waiting! Hopefully I never have to fill my script. I am feeding from that side first every feed just to drain it as much as possible. DD has been sleeping from 10-6 the last couple of nights so I look forward to that morning feed.
jj - yaaay on feeling better!!![]()
Hi Everyone,
Jenjams -- glad to here you are feeling better. Who would of thought Cabbage Leaves could be so useful. Great to here your DD is sleeping well also!
Prama -- Yay that Lakshmans passport is nearly ready!! Hope you have rested up and aren't so tired.
Nic -- hope you have a great time in Perth. I can't imagine trying to juggle work and a new baby. Although that said I will be doing an occaisional shift back at work soon on weekends for a bit of extra cash -- but my children will be at home with DH!
Well I have had a very interesting afternoon. I took my two sons to the Primary School we have enrolled Benjamin in for a tour with the Principle. My 1st mistake was taking DS2 as he was tired and wanting my attention. Mistake 2 -- expecting a 4 year old to remain interested and happy for about 45mins very difficult!!
I was very impressed with the school they have a great set up and I have heard great things in general about the school from other Parent's.
Hopefully by next year Benjamin will be a little less shy and more enthusiastic about going to school.
Although I think it will be a big adjustment for all of us -- especially getting them all organised and out the door!! I will enjoy my slow mornings this year while I have still got them.
DD is being a gorgeous girl, making really cute noises and smiling heaps. They are so easy when they are this age!!
Talk soon
Hi to everyone else and yes Katkins are you OK??
Sue![]()
Oh sue - poor you! yes, hopefully next year Benjamin will be more excited. Will he have some friends going there.
hehe i should be thankful they are easy this age, huh.. it does get tiring, and so constant. plus i have lupus makes me very tired very quickly and that doesnt help....
just got an email from the passports office that his passport is ready. YAAYYY! it only took a week and they will post it on the 29th. dunno why so long. but at least it was ssoo quick, better than BDM!
Hi Everyone!
Jacki - How is Luke going? Is he sleeping through for you again?
Ashlea - I just love your avatar pic of Alexander! How are you handling be a first time mum? You seem very confident...much more than I ever was!!
Sueby - Thats great to hear you have found a nice school for Benjamin. Its a hard decision to make. Daniel started year one this year and this term he had to wear a tie with his uniform and he looks so grown up! They really do grow up so fast!
Prama - Thanks for the welcome. With all this passport talk I gather you are holidaying soon? Where are you going? Must be somewhere exciting if it involves a passport!!
Esther - I see you are also passport talking. Whereabouts are you going?
Jenjams - Thanks for the welcome. Hope you are feeling better soon.-
Minky - thanks for the welcome!
Well after hearing about babies sleeping 8-12hrs straight and Ruby only sleeping 4hr stretches atm I have come to the conclusion that I must have some "anti-sleep gene" that I pass on to my children! Although Ruby slept 5hrs straight last night and just to make sure my Husband and I didn't get too much sleep Claudia (2yo) decided to wake up twice as she couldn't find barbie.... I give up!Lucky I love them all to bits!
take care
Melissa.
Hi Everyone,
Melissa -- he he if its not one its one of the others. I find that at the moment just as I get the two boys to sleep DD wakes up and in the morning DD wakes at 6am and when she goes back to sleep the boys get up. As you said just as well we love them to bits!!!
Have a good day
Sue
hi melissa!
we;re off to Kuala Lumpur mid June. Poopy and I will be there for 2 mths, my family is in M'sia. DH comes back after 2 weeks. So we will miss him terribly.
yesterday we put poopy in his bed about 9.30 but he slept at about 10 and woke up at 7! but the problem with him sleeping so long is that my boobs get so full, they start to really hurt. i woke up at 4am and had to express a little. a real shame!
i got him weighed today and he put on 400g in 2 weeks and grew 2cm. must be a growth spurt! he's in the 5th percentile, moved from 3rd, he's still tiny but i have to remember he was 2 weeks early. im still glad cos he only put on 150g over 2 weeks over last weigh in.
hope everyone is doing well, jj hope your blocked duct is better.
oh, i pm-ed katkins and she says all is well and she's good, just really busy and unable to post. so, yaay!
Hi,
Prama -- gosh you will miss your DH. When do you actually leave?? Will you be able to keep in touch with us while you are gone??
Great to hear also that Lakshman is putting on weight yaaay!
Great to hear Katkins is OK.
I went on a Kinder excursion to the Fire Station today, very funny. The kids were just gorgeous and sooo excited. I even got to spray the fire hose he he made my day. I am just a big kid at heart.
We are taking DD to have her 3 month photos tomorrow. We had some done at birth and they do them at 3, 6 and 12months and then you can have a collage etc. I have bought the cutest outfit for her I will have to put a photo in my gallery

how exciting!! were the kids really excited? hehe were there any cute firemen? lol.
im a fire warden at work, and was so excited to use the extinguisher in one of our training sessions.
looking forward to the pix!
Hi Prama,
Yes there were a couple of cute fireman but just babies really I am starting to feel old!!
A funny story for you -- when I worked in Melbourne about 12years ago now I was driving down Chapel St (big shopping precinct) there was heaps of traffic and we were only going slow. Anyway out the window was a firetruck and this totally luscious fireman without a shirt ( i think they were doing a photo shoot or something ) sio yes got distracted and bumped into the car in front. So embarrassed got out checked damage (none thank god) and the guy in the car said to me don't worry darl I was looking too!!!!!!! hehe very funny is still makes me laugh now. But he was just gorgeous.
I have one at kinder one in bed and one watching ABC kids so I had better go and do my jobs before it is kinder pick up time.
Have a good day
Sue
