    Hi Everyone,

We had a busy weekend with two Birthday parties yesterday. The boys loved it and DD was so good she even had a little sleep in another cot whilst we were out. Benjamin turns 5 in July and we are having a McDonalds party he is so excited!!

Esme -- good luck for the trip. You must be getting excited!
Prama -- good to here from you. Glad to here Laksman is back in his routine. Not nice rellies saying you are fat! How dare they!!!!

Carley -- great to see you back. Hope you have caught up on your sleep. Good to here everything is settling down for you.

Bun -- hope you had a nice massage I am very jealous.
    Hi to everyone else
    Have a good day everyone

    Hi guys.

Prama - I can't believe your rellies, that is horrible! You have just had a baby, for goodness sake! Gees, some people. Just ignore them if you can - they obviously have no idea!

jacki - that is a good idea re the dummies! DD actually pulls hers out of her mouth now and then screams, it is so annoying! I think the JJ instructions say they can be in it for 30 to 40 mins twice a day, but DD is not usually in it for that long.

carley - I am glad to hear some one else is having as much trouble with their bub as me! (I mean that in the best possible way of course!). I gave DD formula the other night to see if it would help her to sleep through the night, or at least anything close to it and felt so guilty I couldn't stop crying! It is just so hard, isn't it? Oh, and the formula didn't really help anyway, she slept for 6 hours, but has done that before on booby milk anyway. But lately she has been up at 10.30, then won't go back to sleep til 12, then up at 3.30 and won't go back to sleep til 5 and then up at 7.30 and we just give up trying to get her to back down again. It is ridiculous! Esp as she was sleeping so much better when she was younger, it feels like we are going backwards! My latest theory is that she is getting too cold, so I will try and maker her warmer tonight and see what happens. It is a constant guessing game!

esme - I am glad the HAB is going well. I found the baby bjorn a lifesaver and will be using that when on the plane to Melbourne next month too.

Well, I am pretty tired after another bad night. We are back to letting her sleep with us, as at least we all get some sleep that way, although I only sleep lightly as I am too afraid of squashing her, but it's better than the constant screaming and getting up all the time when she is in her own bed. Right now I am trying to get her down for a day sleep in her own bed, but boy is it a struggle. The girl just doesn't like to sleep on her own!

I hope everyone is going well.

Bun- Sorry to hear Catherine is giving you a hard time again. It certainly is a guessing game. Are they hot? Are they cold? Too many layers? Wet nappy? Oh dear! But then they smile and we forgive them again.
We put Amber in her JJ for about half an hour every day. She would probably stay in there longer. She LOVES it. She will jump and talk and stare at her feet and dance and drool ALL over herself. Between that and her bebe POD they are the best things we have gotten for her.
Sue- Good work on Sophie sleeping in a foreign cot. I cannot imagine Amber sleeping anywhere other than her cot or the car or sometimes her pram. I shudder having to try her in a portacot.
Esme- Jasper sounds like a contented little man. So much better when they behave for you! I thought about a hugabub earlier on when I was tearing my hair out but couldnt justify the money.
Prama- Like Bun said, you just had a baby and from what I saw on a Current Affair you were not fat.
Must go Amber is deciding to have a grizzle.

Oh a quick question. When is everyone starting solids?

hi girlss, thanks for your kind words, means a lot to me.

a short one, poopy's bed time. a bit hard getting online here as the pc is in another room, back in syd my laptop is on the lounge room coffee table so i can post whenever.

just a quick one for esme
i found it tricky bf-ing on the plane, as the seats are so squashed. poopy's head on person's side of the seat and legs the other. lucky dh was with me and the next seat, the lady was kind enough to move to an empty seat to give us space. flying back will be hard as i will be in the middle of other ppl.
the seatbelt also goes around you then an attachment for bub. they give you a pillow to put around bub around the seatbelt so they are comfy. so it gets hard bf-ing them w seat belt on..

Thanks prama, will see how we go. Started packing and packed all his stuff and pressies for rellies into nappy bag and trolley case, so only our stuff to pack... Haven't done this (traveling) in a long time; am a bit rusty!

Jenjams - Could you borrow a Hugabub from someone? Or maybe get one of ebay? I find it really handy. Re starting solids; we just bought a high chair from IKEA and we will see whether he will be ready for solids by the time we come back from the Netherlands. He will be 6 months then. At the moment he is still happy with just booby milk and that will make it easier on the plane. He isn't showing any interest in solids yet, apart from watching me when I am eating.

Bun - Sorry to hear that your little girl is still such a handful; just do everything you can to get some sleep! Happy mummy is happy bubby!

Sue - Thanks! Definitely getting excited! Started to pack the bags! It is getting real now!

At the moment I am not too worried anymore about Jasper's home routine, as it all will change over the next month anyway, so yesterday he had a nice sleep on my lap; so nice and snuggly! When we come back we will try to get a routine back. Besides this not much to talk about; Jasper is changing so much at the moment, just so much more alert and communicative and he hates going to sleep during the day, even though he needs it so much. Yesterday we went out for a long walk with the dogs, I had Jasper in the Hugabub and he loved it.

What kind of games do you play with your bubby? He is getting bored lying on his playgym or sitting in his rocker. He is the happiest out and about, but we can't always do that. We play surprise games like peekaboo and tickle games, we read books and play with noisy toys, sing songs and dance, but I find that by the end of the day he gets bored with all those things. Any other games you play with your bubbies?

    Hi Everyone,
Esme -- I play all those games too! I also put DD in the highchair and wheel her around with me as I do all the exciting things like washing and sweeping etc she enjoys the change of scenery. The boys keep DD entertained she just loves watching them. I also have a musical fisher price piano that she can kick at and it plays music ( she sits in her rocker to do this ) this is great as she is happy with this for long enough that I can have a shower. I do so miss the days of having a shower completely by myself.

Prama -- have the rellies settled down a bit. Sometimes people just say the first thing that comes into their head IYKWIM. lol.

Jenjams -- I was planning on starting solids when DD is ready. ie) when she really watches you eating mouth open etc So probably at 6months. It is so much fun and you won't believe how messy they can get. he he

Bun -- I hope your DD had a better night for you. Some people say that as they reach different milestones ie rolling, eating crawling they do night wake. Does she go to sleep herself, if you feed her and then put her in her cot at night would she go to sleep?? It is so hard I remember with the boys they would do the same. Just be consistent with what you do and she will get it I promise.

    Jacki -- how are you?

Ash - how are you. The melbourne meet up looks like fun I just don't know if I am brave enough to try and attend with 3 kids!! hehe

Sue - we are all well thanks for asking - some days are good, some not so!! God only knows how you managed with 3.

Esme - I know what you mean about keeping them amused. The newly purchased jolly jumper is a real hit. I have also borrowed a swing off a friend which he loves. Sometimes I put him in Baby Bjorn and walk around the garden letting him grab the plants. Lots of singing. And if I am completely at a loss the occasional 10 minutes of TV (ABC2 has kids programs running all day).

I know we don't all think in weeks anymore but I can't believe my darling bub is 20 weeks today. I never thought I would get this far but t has just flown.

DS has been pretty good. The last 2 nights he has slept really well - no 2.5 hour wake up and play session - so I am feeling like a million dollars.

I think I have a lazy little boy. No rolling, no grabbing for toes, still not a big fan of tummy time and just ends of dropping his head - I know he will do things in his own time so not worried.

I don't seem to get out very much at the moment as it throws his day sleeps out. He doesn't seem to like falling asleep in his pram which is very annoying which means I can't even get to the shops and have a leisurely browse.

Luke has developed a bit of a rash around his mouth and a little bit towards his nose. MHCN just said to keep clean and put on a barrier cream like paw paw ointment or lansinoh - anyone elses bub have this. It doesn't seem to bother him but all the spewing and dribbling seems to agrivate it.

Jacki does he get a lot of drool up there?
I was told drool can be more acidic when teething and can often cause a rash.

Sue i'm going ok, thanks. Just taking things day by day

    Ill BBS alexander crying.

i play all the same games too, but i get bored sometimes!!

jacki - poopy has rolled twice, once on a sofa, 2 weeks ago and half rolled on a bed last week, both didnt need much effort cos the surface is soft. i think he's taking his time doing stuff too. he hasnt attempted to do much more, but doesnt matter, he will at his own pace.

esme - not long to go. all the best!!
we got a preg prego high chair off ebay for @35, sells about 390 i think. it's in good nick, same as you, we got it ready as poopy will be ready for solids when we come back.

sue - thanks, that was a party with soem rellies taht i despise.. i didnt want them to come but my mum insisted that they are rellies and we have to invite them blah blah blah..

i think poopy is starting tanties, when he's upset, he puts his heels flat on the floor and lifts his hips and cries...gawd im so not ready for tantrums!

Prama - Luke has started doing exactly the same thing. Particularly after feeding. If I pull a face and make a funny noise he seems to snap out of it and smile. Oh the things we have to look forward to.

Ash - OMG please don't even think about teeth. Im not ready !!!!!!!

Sue - I didn't think of putting DS in a highchair, I guess becuase I am not feeding him solids yet. But sounds like a great idea when I want to be in the kitchen. Think I will give it a go tomorrow.

    Hi all,

Just discovered that 'head, shoulders, knees and toes' is a big hit! Idon't know for how long, but for now its the favourite.

Prama - Jasper does that too; when I am changing his nappy and I have put his nappy underneath his bottom and are about to pull it up, he lifts up his bottom and I have to start all over again! Lucky, he is not using it as a tantrum just yet. The only time he throws a tanty is when he is very tired and need to go to bed NOW!! And that is by arching his back and crying.

I won't be able to post as often when we are in the Netherlands, but I will try to catch up as often as possible to let you know what we are up to and to stay in touch!

Time to go back to the packing...

    Hi everyone,

We're back after our month over in the UK! the flights went really well and the travel was great although tiring. The flights were good, apart from DD1 getting painful ears so i probably surprised a few passengers and crew by tandem feeding on the descent! I think it only looked like DD1 cuddling me but it was the only thing that would work to calm her down.

We were in a different place every 4 days or so which was more difficult with DD1 (toddler) than with Amelie. Amelie seems to be so happy and smiley all the time she didn't mind the travel at all. We had a week stopover in Malaysia on the way home which was just fantastic. Tropical, warm, wonderful food.

Amelie is not rolling yet and was sleeping well up until 2 weeks ago. Now it's a minimum of waking 3 times in the night! She seems much more alert though so i'm attributing the waking to brain activity and development as this seemed to happen with DD1 too.

Sorry no time for personals but i love reading what you're all up to. Hope you all have a good weekend!

    Hi all,

Roya -- great to hear you are back and all went well. How are the girls settling back in at home?

Jacki/Carley -- I had a fantastic cream from a chemist in melbourne which had lavendar in it and it was great for dribble rash etc. I just have to remember the name of the chemist -- they take postal orders and its not too expensive.

Well DD has only managed to roll once from tummy to back. She gets on her side really well but just can't get the rest of the way and my she gets sooooo frustrated. She is quite content to lie on the floor and watch her big brothers. DS1 is very cute he dances around in front of her and does all his kinder songs she loves it.

My DH has a social club thing tonight so he won't be home until about 10pm!! I think we will be having takeaway for tea I have the can't be bothereds.

Have a nice weekend and YAY School Holidays !!!!

    Hi guys,

Welcome back Roya! Good on you for tandem feeding on the plane - wow!! Do you have to have them buckled in when taking off and landing? We are going to Melbourne soon and I was going to feed DD then to help with her ears but was wondering if they will let me since I imagine I won't be able to keep her buckled in at the same time. It sounds like you had a great time away!

Carley - that's pretty impressive that L has 2 teeth already! DD is showing no signs of teething yet. But DD is exactly the same as L with the rolling! She can also only roll from back to front and doesn't like being on her tummy, so as soon as she rolls, she starts crying, so I roll her back and then it starts all over again!

esme - have a great trip! DD does that too when I am trying to change her; she just doesn't stop moving sometimes!

jacki - we bought a high chair recently but hadn't started using it as she is not on solids yet either, but then the other day when we were busy in the kitchen and she was whinging, we put her in it so she could see us and it kept her happy! Definitely give it a go, they can be quite useful like that! I am glad to hear that the JJ is a hit - DD loves hers too and chats away, looks at her toes and drools everywhere in it! She just turned 20 weeks too!

sue - yeah, I guess there is no chance for any of us to have a shower on our own for a long time now! I put DD in her rocker in the bathroom when I shower and she can entertain herself in it long enough for me to even wash my hair these days - such a novelty! I think DD is getting a little better, at least last night she was. I phoned the helpline here after trying absolutely everything to get her sleeping better and they recommended putting her back in our room again at night and that seemed to help last night. It's funny, sometimes she can put herself down to sleep fine and other times she just refuses to sleep. After her 2am feed it is almost always impossible to get her to sleep in her own bed again so that is when she often ends up sleeping with us so we can get some sleep. It's strange though, because at bedtime she will go down in her own bed for at least 4 hours, sometimes longer, and she has no issue with it then. Who knows what the problem is!

jen - I am going to try and wait til DD is 6 months before starting solids. She has started to stare at me when I am eating and make chewing movements with her mouth and she also tries to grab food off me, but she is still quite content with her booby milk. I was going to start her sooner and had everything ready, but the CHN was really strict on waiting til 6 months so I will see how we go. Having said that, almost all the babies at mothers group have been on solids since 4 months! DD drools so much in her JJ I have to put a bib on her, but she absolutely loves it! I was surprised when trying DD in her portacot that she was fine in it, so maybe Amber will be ok if you try her portacot, at least I hope so!

DD has been gorgeous today, smiling and laughing all day. This is such a cute age! If only she would sleep better at night, I would be loving it!

    Have a great weekend everyone

Yes, both girls were strapped in whilst i tandem fed on the plane. Admittedly it felt like my boobs were being stretched!! But yes, it was possible. i just put a pillow under DD1 head (who was sitting on DH lap) and she fed pretty easily. There really was no other choice as she's too young to suck a sweet. I tried getting her to drink some water (as the swallowing helps with relieving the ear pressure) but she wouldn't at all. The crew didn't look too surprised and were helpful in bringing extra pillows and blankets.

hey Roya! I'm in Malaysia at the mo with my family! what a change from Syd weather.
IT's a bit tricky feeding tehm on the plane isnt it. Did you fly Malaysia Airlines, we flew with them up here adn the crew was fantastic.

bun - i bf-ed poopy while having him buckled in. they were ok with it. their buckles attach to ours and you can move them around so it's not hard to turn them onto lying position to feed, just a bit tricky w the head and legs touching the arm rests and other ppl.

sue - how are you going? i havent read the other page yet, trying to post as quick as poss as poopy is having a little nap.

am going to start poopy on solids the week before we leave back to syd, just a week short of poopy turning 6mths. i thot it would be really nice and special for my mum to give him his first solid food as she will hardly get to see him.

    gotta run, he's awake
