TOJ- re apricots, I found that just using a sharp knife and peeling back the skin was the easiest. Other wise, you can throw them into boiling water (with the skin scored) for a couple of seconds, them take them out and put them in ice cold water. this is blanching and commonly used to remove skins ie tomatoes, or to slightly cook something.
Also I think you were asking if you need to cook them? I did, as it makes them softer-like for pureeing, or mashing. If they were really ripe you wouldn't need to. (I personally dont eat peaches, but Kaetlyn loves them)!

Sacha, the pear thing in the mesh bag went okay. Once she sucked all the juice out she didnt want it anymore. I also kept the hardest piece of cooked pear- by accident to put in there.
I mashed up all the cooked pear, and tried her on the mash pear (normally it is pureed), she liked it and ate it easier than the puree stuff. So will only mash her veges from now on. The bugger about this is I have about 5 freezer bags of frozen puree veges to use up , will just mix the puree with mashed veges for different flavours/textures.

Does anyone elses bub have satin boxers? Kaetlyn does, and she is sitting here next to me on DH's lap, feeling then, She is utterly facinated by their silky feel. It is really cute watching her play with them in her little fingers.

Thanks sara I just popped back quickly to say i had done them, very messily but done! I just decided to boil them and see what happened so, after they were boiled a little i sat there burning my fingers a bit but got the skins off didnt even think to throw them in cold water!! After my disaster in the kitchen last night and my very silly moment tonight i think i shall retire from the kitchen for a few days LMAO! Now i smell like apricots so i think that may deter me from eating them now and some will make it to the freezer! how embarrassing

Anyway back later home and away is about to begin....

Oh Sara that is too gorgeous with the boxers! I can really picture it because Autie is constantly feeling things. Makes me want to go out and get her some! She also did the 'suck it dry, then chuck it' thing with the feeder. I don't use it anymore because I found I couldn't get all the fibre out of the rim and seam and was worried she'd end up getting sick. But you know, you could put the frozen cubes of anything (even veges) in there for her to help use them up.

Oooh I just got an awful 'things you should know' email about psychos playing recordings of a baby crying outside houses at night when women were home alone to make them open the door! It was from America but still way too creepy.

    Hi everyone,

Trying to catch up with everything on here, I'm so far behind. I have no hope of getting personals done tonight as am way too tired, and still have to get some stuff done in the house in preparation for hosting my mother's group tomorrow

But would like to say Happy Belated birthday to Em, glad you had a good day.

And re apricots - I baked some in the oven yesterday, didn't peel them, just sat them in roughly 1cm of water, at 180 for about 20-25 minutes, then blitzed them up peel & all, and they turned out nicely smooth. I did the same with peaches & nectarines (had them all in the same baking dish), but baked the peaches & nectarines for a little longer. I did peel the peaches & nectarines once they'd been taken from the oven & cooled down a little, but I think that this was just me being over finicky with them. And baking them really brings out the sweetness without actually adding sugar to them. Not that Liam is eating them at the moment, but that's a story for another day.

Anyway, best be off to do some cleaning, otherwise I'll have a messy house for tomorrow. Will catch up properly when the girls have gone.

    Hi girls,

Just popped in quikly because I just got the new Big W catalogue and I am SO excited!

They have a huge baby sale starting tomorrow. There is some really great bargains and gorgeous stuff!!!

And OMG!!! They now sell Osh Kosh B'gosh!!! I remember buying some clothes from there when Lexxen was a baby and it was super expensive!! Fantastic quality though. I wonder why Big W is stocking it now? And it's reasonably priced also.

Oh and they have some really cute stuff made from organic cotton (really comfy) at a great price.

I will be one crazy shopping lady tomorrow - I'm getting there early cause I plan on making a HUGE layby!!!

    BBL.......

I just did a big post and accidently deleted it.. I always do stupid stuff like that! No time to re-type - Tom is awake so just have a quick question - Do i have to use the baby yoghurt or can i just use normal plain (vanilla) yoghurt? Dont want to buy the baby ones if he hates it..

Be back later hopefully - i am excited about Big W sale too!!

I have a feeling the baby yoghurt is specially made to be easy on the tum. don't take my word for it.

Em i think you can just use plain natural yoghurt, dont take my word on it either!! How are you feeling about the whole job thing? That really sucks, especially on your birthday!!

Not much to report here...Lucas is being a good boy but god can he squeal!!

I am pretty sure that they can have natural yoghurt. What did they do before they brought baby yoghurt onto the market.
I think the idea was that they are smaller portions for bubs.
Have to go BBL emergency in the kitchen

    Hi everyone,
I thought it was best to use natural plain yoghurt, because the "baby" yoghurts are full of sugar, and it's mostly just marketing hype that makes us think that it is good for babies. If/when Liam ever decides he's going to eat solids, I'll be looking at using the natural yoghurt & just adding fresh fruit into it for the first little while. I'll eventually soften on what I give him & let him have normal kids yoghurt, but for as long as he'll take the sugar-less stuff then I'll do that I think. This is me being a goody two shoes mum, not sure how long it's going to last!

All yoghurt has sugar in it, but Jan is right, the ones for babies have more. I have tried Oliver on two different types and he loves it but 9 times out of 10 throws it up so I'm not giving it to him anymore. I will try again in a month or so.

I am going to start adding a small amount of grated cheese into his vegies in about a month also so if the yoghurt is still making him vommit at least he will get some calcium from the cheese.
