I typed heaps but then decided I was waffling so I deleted it.

Shell: Good on you for BF for as long as you could. If you're not enjoying it anymore then IMO you are doing the right thing for both of you. DJ is probably fussing coz he senses you're not enjoying it and so he's not enjoying it and not getting enough from you. (stress can affect supply). There is a saying: Happy mumma = happy bubba. If giving up BF makes you happy then DJ will probably be happier too. Also with FF you know exactly how much he's getting.

Jazz is taking one bottle a day at about dinner time. She's getting used to that now which is good. I'm finding that since doing that she falls asleep earlier (closer to 8/8:30 than 9/9:30).

Sheesh I am in trouble if you shouldnt kiss them too much..what a load of coddswallop. Honestly I am sure thats why so many kids get sick these days they arent allowed to do this or arent allowed to do thathow do they build up immunity if they arent exposed to anything. I am gonna continue to be a bad mother and kiss my baby all I want *LOL* and I am very sure poopy isnt harmed by all your mumma loving either.Dont worry next week it will be babies who arent kissed enough go on to be axe murders.

prama it sounds like a lot of hassle for you guys huh especially because you arent allowed to take on much liquid but have to make it up on the plane. At least you have steve with you for the trip over and you might be more confident comign home by yourself. The stewards are usualy pretty good with peeps with babies. How exciting lakshaman is the first of the bubs to get a stamp in a pasport I am jelous :-)

I forgot to say: yesterday Jazz recognised herself in the mirror for the first time. She looked straight into her eyes and laughed. Now everytime she catches her reflection she smiles and gets excited!

She also started trying to grab things instead of just reaching for them and she rolls from back to side now.

How cute Danni. The mirror is a great tool when they are really cranky. I used to put DD in front of one and she would stop crying. She was so vain I had to tell her how good she looked to get her to keep her hat on - all before 12 months.

Prama, Paddy pulls himself up to sit all the time, except when lying flat on his back. He has always had good head control. It's funny how all babies do things at different rates. My DD could roll over and over at this age, crawled at 6mths and walked at 8.5 mth but DS1 didn't move for 3 months, crawled at 6mths and walked at 11 mths. I don't think it matters when they reach the milestones as long as they do. I just love watching them learn new things.

Shell glad the feeding is going well. DJ should be ready for when you have to return to work.

SJ where are you? Hope everything is settling down with DSS

    DD1 - sat 5 months, crawled 8 months & walked 11 months
    dd2 - sat 4 months crawled 6 1/2 months & walked 11 1/2 months

They're all different. DH didn't walk til he was 17 months old coz he was too chubby to hold his own weight. I was 10 months.

    I like the saying,

All they ever wanted me to do was walk & talk
Now all I hear is sit down & shut up!!

Jesse likes looking in the mirror, but still looks a bit confused.
And if kissing is wrong then I'm the worst mother that ever existed. How can you refuse those cheeks?? They are just asking for it. They only stay chubby for so long. DH does think I overdo it, but only coz he's scared Jesse will either be gay or a mummy's boy. I'll take him any way. Bring on the mummy's boy!!

    Afternoon girls,

Well Doni has left for another trip and this time to Townsville/Cairns and back on Friday night (only 3 nights this time phewwww). I just made myself a big pot of lentil and vegetable soup for the week yummmm can't wait for dinner tonight now at least this way I will make sure I can eat something nutritrious while Doni is away instead of just eating toast or something simple.

Thanks for all of your nice words in regards to my decision to move to formula feeding for DJ. So far it is only top-ups and one full feed per day so I am gradually increasing it. He likes his formula feed which is great for me. He has been a hungry thing today. I gave him 10mins on boob, then 70ml expressed breastmilk, then he swallowed down another 50ml of formula!!!! What a hungry little boy!!!

Bjrose - wow on the sitting that is amazing, we have to hold DJ up to sit, but his head is less wobbly now, can definitely hold himself alot better.

I have to go out after mothers group to get formula, they were sold out at chemist and supermarket doh!!! How did you go at Rouse Hill? Did you go to Big W?

Trina - wow on the acerage that would be super, keep us updated.

Well I better get some things done while DJ is kind of sleeping. Keeps waking up - cheeky bugger...

I read that from about 3-4 months its good to let babies sit and hold them lower so they gain upper body strength to hold themselves up. I basically just balance jazz and if she's fairly balanced I let go for like 1 second. I do that when she's standing as well. I also read that at about 4-5 months with the sitting thing that you should actually knock them off balance a little so they learn to centre themselves (not so much that they fall over though).

I've noticed Jazz is getting heaps heavy now coz its not so much of a shock when I pick our cat up, they are much closer in weight now.

Re kissing: arrest me now for too many kisses! I don't kiss Jazz on the lips as much as I used to though, I don't like getting drooled on!

Prama - hate to be a pain, but you'll probably be sent home. They aren't allowed to do the needles til after the date the baby is the age required, wich means you might have to take him back in 4 days. I'm not sure if that's for the 2, 4 & 6 month ones as well, but I know once they are getting the 12 & 18 month ones & the 4 years, it has to be after the date.
    I agree with the cheeks!

Shell - I'm with everyone else. Good on u for getting this far bfing. I only got to 6 & 4 weeks with the girls. I think the main reason I'm still going is
    1. I don't really want any more kids, so I'm trying to make it last.
    2. I don't think I can afford formula!!
I wanted to feed the girls longer, but there were so many reasons I stopped....pain, colic, cracks....All the things people told me would get better. It just gets too much & too stressful sometimes. Your milk doesn't let down properly if your stressed & tense, so sometimes formula IS best.

with feeding, even though Jazz will now take the boob if I offer it without the shield, I still prefer to use the shield coz it doesn't hurt as much, especially if she bites which is happening more. I will give her a firm but not hard tap on the back or nose when she does and say "don't bite" at the same time. She gets the message & doesn't do it as much.

Jesse bites. I say no when he does & he wasn't doing it nearly as much - he used to do it to let me know he was finished - but the other day he bit & when I said no he grinned at me while holding on!! He knows what he's doing now! Little turd. He better quit it before he gets teeth or he'll be going on the bottle!

    hi all
poopy is a bit unsettled. he cried a little but he started grizzling before his jab cos it was his feed time. we waited till after his needles to give him his bottle. that settled him.
i'll see how he goes before we give him any panadol.
    poor baby.

skye - true, we hadnt got the letter and they werent very sure if he could have his needles. but we told them we're going os and it's been 7 wks since the last one. they counted the weeks and then said ok.

trina - hope miss sumz sleeps better. poor baby.I'll miss you all but will try to get online as often as i can. my brother is living w my parents cos he's house is being renovated. will have access during the day but at night, i wont cos he will be studying for his MBA

Prama - Glad it was OK. I don't see how a few days could make that much of a difference, But I got sent home when I went to get Jaz's 4 year one. It was two days before her 4th birthday. Her birthday was on a Sunday, so I had to go back Monday.
I know how you feel about the needles going in. Its horrible. The place I got DD1 done at they let me hold her so I was there the whole time. With DD2 the ECHN laid her down coz she found they were more relaxed, but I hated it. Excellent ECHN, but that was hard.
I've always given my kids a 1/2 dose of panadol about 20 minutes before. I found it helped.
Hope you have fun on your trip.

Danni - I'm the same with the drool.

Has anyone elses bub choked on their drool? Jesse started dribbling at like 3 or 4 weeks - Way earlier than either of the girls. I asked the doc about it at his 6 week check, she felt the roof of his mouth etc, but couldn't see any reason for it.
He drools that much he chokes. He had about a week when he was getting a cold when it was really bad, & really scary. He was actually choking for about 10 minutes, but getting a breath & screaming in between. I thought it was phlem, but when I took him to the doc there was no phlem on his chest at all. It still happens too. Not that bad, but it still has me worried. Not sure if I should go back to the doc or ignore it.

    Morning girls,

Sorry wont repy to all, been away too long...

Teach - thanks for your advice and support

Bron - we would have DSS full time in a flash, unfortunatly he is his mums ticket to the single parent pension, a flat in St Kilda, free counseling, FTB A and B and money from us via Child Support etc etc etc. She wont give him up becasue of loosing out, despite it probably being the better option for him... we have looking into trying to take custody, but it would be unlikel for us to get it without a lenghty court case that would invariably turn nasty and be detrimental for DSS... even when we had proof that she was using ice years ago, the DSS (?) said that they would rather support her and keep him there, rather than remove him (go figure!!!)...
are only real option is to wait, at the age of 12 his opinion is recognized in court BUT at the moment she is so totally dependent on him (and makes him feel very needed and he takes the carers role) that he probably wont leave. We suspect it will take a few more years for him to realise what she is and then he will want to come and live with us... at which point the door will be open, we just hope that she hasnt done too much damage in this time. We have him as much as he wants and she needs us too.

LISA - wow what a situation... i read this last night and have a bit of time to think.... a 6 figure sum is probably too good to pass up, what i would probably do is take the job, but bank the entire wage if you can, you said that you were managing on DH wage, I would try and continue... each time you feel like a bad mummy, go and look at your bank statement and watch your money growing, knowing that it is building the future for you and your family. Say if you get $100,000 in there, the interest at 8% is $8,000 per year thats money for nothing... and will help you realise your dream of being a SAHM.
We all have to make sacrifices at some stage or another, if you miss out on a year with Jake, but it means that you will never have to do it again (as aposed to missing out on say 3 days a week for 2-4 years) i would probably choose that. Just my opinion, i hope this helps

Hummm, MJ is calling, i will try and get back later, have missed you guys
