wow what a week. Ariya and I ended up with DS coldwhich was pretty hideous. Luckily Ariya didn't get it as bad as DS but we had 2 nights where she was so distressed because she couldn't breathe. She is almost back to her normal self now though. Just spent two hours happily cooing on the floor and in her bouncer abd then just quietly dropped off to sleep - just beautiful.
We had her 6wk check yesterday. She is now 5.2kg so 1.3kg more than birth weight and 57cm long (5cm since birth) We are a little worried she might have a turned eye but we will see how it is going at 12wks. Anyone else getting the rotovirus vaccination? we are thinking about it as I am always bringing it home being a teacher adn Ariya is not going to get any immunity from my BM as I don't have any immunity.
Rachel- Ariya has a fav booby too and I barely express anything out of the one she dislikes, it has a much slower flow and I don't think she likes lying on that side of her body as she has been fussy at it since birth. I was actually wondering if I was making any milk at all from that side as it has a differnt feel altogether when she feeds. I did a bit of research and drank heaps of water between feeds and made sure I was really relaxed when I was feeding and expresing from that side and it now seems to be filling up again. She is still fussy and it is a pia to feed her from that side esp when out in public but I guess it can only get better. When expressing try expressing near grace and think about her to get your let down happening. have you got a hand pump or electric? If you have a hand pump try doing quick little pumps at first and then slower rythmic pumps to mimic feeding, you could also try expressing while feeding Grace in the football hold.
Sonia - goodness hope you can get Kaiden eye sorted outb soon
JoMarie - Ariya doesn't always give us that much sleep her usual is between 4-5 but is sometimes only 2-3. She feeds every 1.5-2.5during the day but it is still quite hot here and I figure I'm drinking all day so I can't really argue with her. I found it interesting at an ABA meeting I went to the other day they had some tums balls - they showed how big a babies stomach is and why it's importnat for them to feed so often. I try to keep it in mind when I feel like Ariya is feeding constantly - but it is hard not to get frustrated. Hope the bottle feeding works out better for you both and don't feel bad, Nicholas got a good couple of weeks of BM and it is so much more important that you two are comfortable.
Karina - Ariya sometimes wakes up happy and will play for an hour or more happily but there will be grumbling in between where we will more her from her bouncer to the floor or something. Other times she will only go 5mins and want to be picked up constantly. i have to do something about getting her into a good daytime routine as she catnaps during the day and is awake most of the time which makes for a grumpy baby and grumpt mum.
Cass-sounds like Izzy is doing really well Congrats.
