I'm starting to get worried about Jazz. She sounds very clogged up still and it's getting worse IMO. I'm worried that if she can't get rid of all the fluid from her birth that she'll get pnenomia(sp). It's getting so that she finds it hard to settle when laying on her back, but I don't want to leave her in anyother position unsupervised coz everyone says laying babies on the back is the safest. I just don't know. I want the rattly breathing to stop.

Danniella, if you're worried, take her to the doctor or of you can't wait, take her to the hospital. They wont think you're stupid in any way for bringing her in even if its only minor and they'll tell you to do it even if only for your own piece of mind. They'd much rather check her out if your worried and be safer than sorry. I would personally take her to hospital over the doctor because they have paediatricians handy to see babies that come in rather then a GP who isn't specialised.

I'm gonna have a look into BBH nappies because i'm starting to get sick of buyng disposables. i'm buying them for 2 kids, 2 packs of junior and 2-3 packs of infant size a fortnight which works out to be just over $100 a fortnight, plus of course the wipes and nappy sacks aswell, thats another $10-20 a fortnight. And besides, you girls have been raving about them so they can't be all that bad hehe.

SJ, oh no! i hope DH feels better soon. I know what you mean about baby withdrawls, last night DH had moved some furniture into the hallway (long story) so the pram wouldn't fit through to be put into our bedroom and i ended up staying up half the night trying to put him into the cot for the first time instead of leaving him out in the kitchen in the pram. I wanted him closeby! oh and yeah the cot thing went badly, he didn't sleep nearly as well...

India, hehe i havn'et dont any putting clothes away since Ryan was born, we have a huge pile of clean washing in the kitchen just sitting there..

yeah so the thing with the furniture... The bed is great! however the dresser and one of the bedside tables had huge cracks up the side of them so we had to get them replaced. The new ones arrived today so i'm gonna go help DH unpack them now to make sure they're ok...

    Danni, hope Jazz is OK

Jade - bugger bout the furniture, hope this lot is OK

Just got an email back from the BBH lady, she does the same specials, so will pop to her house next week and grab a load of nappies.
Woo Hoo, will increase my stash so i dont have to was.

Jade although the initial out lay for fitted nappes is a lot for 3 kids, in the log run youwill save so much money as the younger two will grow into the covers and the OSFM will be used for all three which would be great for you.

Managed to get at least 3 hours sleep (a little broken) but at least it was 3 hours. trying to express at the moment and only managed 60ml. I have a feeling my milk has dropped off a bit today, so will keep expressing for the early morning feeds. I gave DJ 20ml top-up of formula this morning and wondering if that gave him an upset tummy. The formula I have is SD26 Alpha Gold, so it is a good one. I was just getting to the stage at 4am that I needed to get him settled and that was probably one thing I hadn't tried. I am just hoping I can get enough milk out for tonight so I don't have to resort to formula again in case that is what gave him an upset tummy. I left several messages with community nurse though and no luck, so I am going to turn up at baby clinic tomorrow and just tell the nurse I really need to see someone. It is just ridiculous that after 3 weeks I haven't even had a nurse come out to see me and the baby.

SJ - I have placed order with my BBH lady as well but she said because of sale that it may take 2 weeks to get order, but hopefully end of next week (fingers crossed). So frustrating having to wash them every single day.

Woops hit post and wasn't finished.

Danni - I hope Jazz is ok, I agree with Jade, take her to your doctor or the hospital, better to be safe has she been in contact with anyone with a cold or anything?

Jade - hope the furniture is ok once unpacked

    Hi,

Thought I'd join in the thread as there seems to be some really helpful discussions and support happening so far between the March mummies.

I'm 27 and first-time mum to Ella who was born 19th March after a very long labour, after a rocky first two weeks I'm starting to feel a little bit more relaxed about being a mum and am starting to be easier on myself that I'm doing an ok job.

I struggled with BF as I now know I have flat nipples and Ella was shredding my nipples to the point where I couldn't feed off one and was in tears with every feed. I started using nipple shields though when she was 1 week old and have not looked back and the M&CH nurse said that there was nothing to suggest that they decrease milk supply and to keep using as long as I want to BF - huge relief. Now we're just trying to figure out the sleeping part!!!

    welcome new people!!!

just a really quick post as i'm expressing here in the middle of the night, i woke up about to explode..

LOL the furniture.... the new lot arrived and the bedside drawers are reallt stiff and barely open and the new dresser has 2 crack in it... have to have these ones taken back too.. absolute nightmare!!
Got my hair done today, first time in like 6 months but feel awsome.
Also bought some new clothes today, was horrified at how big i looked in the mirror in the dressing rooms. Was also horrified that i needed Large size as opposed to small-medium which is what i would've been before this pregnancy but at the same time felt good about myself being out of maternity clothes which is a little depressing since i'm no longer pregnant and haven't been for 5 weeks hehe
Will definately look into BBH nappies, already done a little reading up on them, will look into further...
anyways back to bed while i have the chance!

Morning all and welcome to the new girls.

Molly Jane has had really bad wind, well if she could fart easily thats what u would call it, not yet colic as she is not really distressed by it, but groans and makes straining noises A LOT, no actual crying with it.
Got some infacol which has been helping a bit, but she is so unsettled at night.
She is actually sleeping through the groans, but we are picking her up at times and burping if we think that it is upper wind, and rubbing her belly if it is lower... se sleeps straight through this, but we obviously dont.
She has done more poo's since taking the infacol but some of them she really strains to get out - like she is constipated, but its the same consistancy as normal.
I tried the water via a bottle, but she looked at me as if i had 2 heads!!!
    Any suggestioons girls?

Jade, bugger about the furiture again!!! but glad that you got a haircut and feel abit better. I am not game to go into a dressing room yet and try on clothes, might just get too depressed!
How is your suture line now? did it end up infected?

Shell, i cant believe that you havent been seen yet, CMHN came out on day 8 and then we have had a 2 week check up and my 4 week was meant to be yesterday but was rescheduled for next week as she was sick... maybe its different in other states??? would have thought you would have been seen thou.

Re the washing of the nappies, i do it every 2nd day, was filling the machine at night and then after the night chenges (last one at about 4-5am) would put the load on and it would be ready to hang in the morning. Hasnt really been that much of an effort to be honest... cant wait to get my new BBH as i want her in them full time now and i am having to use a variety of trifolds and flats to keep her in cloth all the time.

Ashnut thanks for the AIO tip, going to get a few as they are great for emergencies and at $15 a pop great value to have stashed in the nappy bag or for babysitters, although aunty Nina has been changing nappies lately and has got the BBH OSFM down pat now! - now to work on DH

Hope you are all have a great day

Oh forgot to mention, i have a suprise on Saturday, Mum has organised for us to go down for lunch and it will be there... i am thinking that it is my best friend from England, i am godmother to her daughter who was born last may and i have never met her... goss i hope that is it - pretty sure that it is someone over from the UK thou - will let you know!

DJ is finally settling, his wind is starting to clear. Bought some Gripe Water yesterday, mum used it on me when I was a baby and it worked for her, so I am giving it a go. He is getting rid of alot of gas and his tummy doesn't seem to be as upset - what a relief. I might actually have a good day with him today also bought some fenugeek tabs and rescue remedy as well, have noticed if I start to take the motilium because my milk supply is low, I end up with thrush - the motilium is the culprit.

SJ - get some Gripe Water, I bought some yesterday for DJ and it is really settling down his wind. He is farting heaps haha and burping himself alot as well. His tummy doesn't seem as upset as it was from the wind.... He is sleeping alot longer as well, and not so unsettled. My mum used Gripe Water on me when I was a bub so I thought I would give it a go. Smells terrible and DJ screws up his face when we give it to him so now giving it to him with warm water so it is a bit diluted. I will actually be able to catch-up on some sleep today with DJ being so settled. Haven't used Infacol on DJ but Prama says she has had some good results. And on the community nurse thing, it is very frustrating, finally getting my first visit on Wednesday!!! DJ will just be 3 weeks 6 days old by then. Unbelieveable though. I have so many questions. Ooooooh on the surprise, be sure to let us know I love surprises.

Jade - nice one on getting your hair done, you must feel like a new woman especially with the new clothes to go with it Don't worry about the sizing, we will all get back to our pre-pregnancy shape eventually. My hubby likes feeling the softness of my belly but I hate it, it is all spoungey Can't wait until I get my tummy back.

KyeG - welcome to the group. I also have to use nipple shields with my bub. My nipples go inverted and he can't latch on. I hate having to use the shields but I have to. Sometimes I don't have to and he latches on, but not everytime.

Jo - wow that is a great weight gain, she is growing so well. Good to hear you found out she had reflux so you know what is wrong and can fix it. Did she vomit after every feed? DJ is getting sick after a few feeds, but I think it is because he was being greedy and having too much. I might ask the community nurse about it next week when she finally comes to see me.

Hayley - welcome to the group. Do you find the bear hug sling easy to use? I was considering getting one.

Have a great day girls xxxx

Jade - I haven't ventured into my 'regular' wardrobe yet as I'm still too attached to my maternity jeans (although they do sag terribly around the bum as I've dropped all of my pregnancy weight gain from anxiety in these first two weeks), they are the most comfortable jeans ever! My Mum is coming to stay next week so I think I'll get her to come shopping for some new jeans with me as I'm not confident enough to hit the shops alone with Ella yet!

Is anyone using slings/pouches apart from Hayley? My SIL passed down a jolly baby pouch (like a baby bjorn style) but I find it really uncomfortable on my back and it's almost impossible to get Ella out of when she does fal asleep and I'm home alone. I really like the look of the Peanut Shell pouches -Very funky.

Jazz has a cold. I've had the midwife out to have a look at her. She had a slight temperature (37.5). I took her jumpsuit off and just had her in a nappy and singlet for a while and that's brought the temperature down to 37 which is normal. I was told to put drops of cooled boiled water up her nose and perhaps take her into the bathroom when I have a shower to help declog her.

I am using a pouch which is a lifesaver on days like today. Jazz just wants to be close and also with her being clogged up it's better for her to be in an upright position.

I have an appointment soon at the hospital physio for a post natal check up of my pelvic floor. I do hope Jazz will sleep through that.

I've run out of huggies nappies and am now using a brand called dribots. I hate them! They leak like a tap! This morning she did a poo and there was almost as much poo on the outside of the nappy as on the inside. I've had to buy pvc pilchers to put over the top of the nappies.

    Hi Hayley and KyeG, welcome!!

KyeG i have a jazsling this time around i have tried all sorts in the past and wanted to try a different sling that was cheap so that if i didn't like it, it didn't matter and am finding it great, Summer didn't like it too much in the first few weeks but she is liking it now.

Hayley, I'm on the coast too, nice part of the world hey!

Danni, hope Jazz gets better quick not nice having sick children.

SJ Summer grunts and groans after her night/morning feed and farts away, she is so loud sometimes but she isn't too worried by it most times.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you have a fantastic day and get spoilt rotten xoxox

Shell hope you get some rest today.

Gave the girls the day off today and regretted it 10 mins after, they are all tired and grumpy and fighting with each other. Summer is a bit unsettled today just wants to be cuddled, she is laying in codies arms looks very cute. I must put some more pics in the gallery.

KyeG - I have a Baby Bjorn Active which is fantastic, it has extra lumbar support and my back feels great when I am using it. It is a little awkward to put on but once you know what you are doing it is quite quick. Caitlin is only 3.5kg's at the moment so it may get harder to use once she puts on more weight but at the moment I would recommend it and she always falls right to sleep when I use it!

Danni - I hope Jazz is feeling better, Caitlin is quite often in the mid 37's with her temp and I was told not to worry too much until it was up around 38 just to not over dress her.

Shell - Glad DJ is feeling better - perhaps you will be able to get some more sleep if he is more settled.

Thanks for message Trina - sorry the girls are fighting. Great pic's Sumz is so cute!

GOOD NIGHT SLEEP ALERT! - Last night I decided to introduce 1 x formula feed to Caitlin's schedule (after consultation with her Paed). I gave her a 90ml bottle and she slept for 6 hours! Woo hoo! I am going to give her night feed as a formula one from now on as she was really settled and didn't bring much of it up which is a good thing in the middle of the night. The formula we were recommended to use by the Paed is Nan HA. This takes the pressue of my expressing a bit as I have been expressing enough to cover her 80ml feeds but now that we have upped her to 90ml it was going to make things tight, now I will have some EBM in reserve which is a nice thing to have and hopefully I can get my stocks back up in the freezer.

My little angel gave me a nice surprise this morning for my birthday. She gave me a card and a new iPod! Mark only gave me a card and a Wii game! We must be giving her too much pocket money! (Mark was so proud of himself for coming up with the idea of a pressie from each of them!) My old iPod became Caitlin's when she came home from hossy so it will be nice to have my own one again! Now I just need to get her some small speakers so that I can have my sound dock back!

    Have a good arvo everyone!

Managed to get a good 1.5 hour sleep today and my milk is starting to come back. Managed to get two feeds from pumping instead of just one so onwards and upwards. I think now that DJ's wind has eased and I am feeling less stressed it has helped Really enjoying my time with him, was giving him super big cuddles and kisses today.

Jo - happy birthday sweetie, hope you are having a great day and what a great present from little Caitlin that was very sweet of Mark to do that for you. My husband is hopeless at buying me any presents, I will be intrigued to see if he gets me something for mothers day. Who knows he might suprise me.

Trina - I hope your day improves and Summer settles. Can't wait to see more photos. I need to upload more as well. DJ is changing everyday.

Danni - hope Jazz feels better

KyeG - I only have the baby bjorn carriers, haven't got a pouch/sling yet but considering one. Just worried on which one to buy because I have heard so many stories of babies falling out.... So interested to know which one is a good one

Well girls, I better put in another load of washing. Hubby is home early and looking after DJ for me YAY so finally getting some time to myself. I might go for a 20 min nap as well

Prama - Honestly just do what you feel best, and you will know what you want to do deep down. I had the same feelings with DS1 I felt terribly guilty because I knew I didn't want to try and BF anymore, it was too painful and causing me real stress and depression. Like you I dreaded feeding time. But for me once I made the decision to FF I felt a huge weight off my shoulders and I knew then I could get on with being a Mum and not stressing out and living inside my head all the time. It comes back to the old adage "Mum knows best" and they do! IMO you've been feeding bub now for over a month, he's already gotten a decent dose of the 'good stuff', it really is better than having none at all. Huge hugs because I do know how you feel and it is a tough time. I hope you get it sorted out soon.

Gotta run Jake is awake.....will re turn later.....

Prama, I got the same thing for Jazz's nose. It's helped her to settle well today and helps her to actually have a proper feed as well. Seems that the combination of panadol, the baby balsam and now the drops and clearing her nose is really starting to do the trick.

We had a bit of drama 15 mins before we were going out this morning. Jazz woke and demanded some food so I fed her. Then she spat almost all of it back up, and then did a whole nights worth of poos in one go (she hadn't done a poo all night). Plus it was a formula poo from being babysat.

Her nappy rash seems to be calming down which is good. She seems a bit more comfortable.

Anyone got any ideas about how to treat milk spots or "pimples"? Jazz's face is absolutely covered. They go down her neck and she has some on her chest and back as well. Also has them spreading to the top of her head. Matt's been really worried about them but I've been told by 2 nurses that they are normal. Also by another mum that her daughter had them from 4weeks and they lasted until about 10 weeks (Her daughter is 2 now).

By the way: Bec, great to see you in the March 2008 bubs. I've missed you! We kind of lost touch when we moved from TTC buddies into 2 different Belly Buddy groups. Congratulations on your little one.

Right, I need to put my feet up. My muscles are still sore down there, Can't wait till everything is completely healed, hopefully another 2 weeks. Bleeding seems to have stopped, although last time I said that it came back. Sometimes it stops for a couple of days then starts again but not very heavy. I'm now using ultrathin regular pads. No more maternity or supers anymore :-)
