laranna - the recommendation for rusks is from 6 months, but as long as you're watching them with it, it shouldn't be a problem. They don't bite on them, they're way too hard for that yet. They just grind at it, and suck on it.
WTG on Amelie for rolling tummy to back!!
Emily will do back to tummy quite easily, but hasn't mastered tummy to back yet.
wow, haven't we been a chatty bunch over the last day or so :-)
Jodi: great idea on the teething rusks as macey also can't keep her hands out of her mouth and has also started sucking on her thumb a bit which I'd like to avoid her getting used to.
well done to Amelie for rolling! macey is good going from belly to back but hasn't done it the other way yet- although she has started pulling her legs up in the air when on her back which tips her to th side so she mightn't be far off! Life is so much easier when she stays int he same spot. won;t be long and I'll be losing her under the furniture I know!
7kgs Ava! Wow that is chumba wumba :-) am going to take macey back to MHC next week to weigh her again to make sue that shes still putting on enough weight. Health nurse that if we can keep upto 100g weight gain per week then thats ok.
Been a nice day outside today although a little windy so took the kids down to the park in the pram. Harry had a ball and macey snoozed in the pram for most of the time and both are in bed now so I enjoy my lunch in peace.
Are anyone else's bubs harder to settle now? Amelie was no worries before now I have to nearly rock her to sleep and I dont want to get in a bad habit. Day time sleeps are especially bad. But she is tired as she has all the signs and doesnt want to stay awake as I have tried that.
Just finding it hard atm. It breaks my heart to hear her cry.
11pm bedtime shezabelle, WOW! Luckily they sleep in for you. Emily sleeps in till around 8 each morning, but she goes to bed at 7'ish, so that's pretty good. Emily's a chubba bubba too, at 4 months she was 7.2kg. Not too bad considering she's exclusively b/f hey! It's so different having a chubby baby. Nina never had fat rolls. At 4 months, Nina was 6.2kg, so a whole kg difference between the girls at the same age. And Emily is tall as well, she's about 67cm.
kristale - what is causing her to be so unsettled do you think? I've noticed with Emily now that she can grab things, and is more of her surroundings, she's forever pulling her dummy out, throwing it across the room, then crying for it Or when she starts rubbing her eyes, she seems to keep herself awake even more by rubbing her eyes consistently. If I hold her hands still for a few seconds and wait till she settles down, then she goes to sleep no worries.
Only got to do some grocery shopping - boring! But it was still good to get out of the house. DS was crying by the time we were done though so I didn't go back out, managed to get him to have a 2 hour sleep this afternoon.
Jodi, Kristale, I'm finding the same thing with Joshua. If I hold his hands still, he calms down.
He has been a bit unsettled the last couple of days. Tonight he woke up on cue for a 9pm feed and was screaming the house down. It was as if he was in pain and every time I tried to attach him, he'd just scream. Never heard him scream like that before, had me bit worried but he seems ok now and is back in bed asleep.
Kristale, the day sleeps are hard for us too. Joshua doesn't like them much and I spend what seems like ages settling him to sleep, sometimes he only gets 20 minutes before he has to feed again! Hearing him cry is just awful, I know what you mean.
But, I'm just being persistant, got some ideas from the Hush Baby. To avoid sleep associations, they recommend stop the settling action as soon as bubs is calm...ie...if you are rocking, stop rocking as soon as bubs has calmed down and is quiet, doesn't have to be asleep, just calm. Then keep repeating until he finally goes to sleep. It's hard and takes time. I found if I look at the time I start and check when he finally goes off, it is not really as long as it seems, if that makes sense!?!
Hi everyone, I know i have been MIA for an eternity, so i just wanted to pop in and say gday! We have had a dramas here mainly with DH losing his job! So i just haven't had the time to get on here. Molly is doing really well, she is a very contented bub still sleeping through the night and an absolute treasure to have. Mitchie is still really good with her and very accepting of sharing his mummy. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome...... I know prior to Molly being born i wondered how on earth i would cope with 7 kids an two bubs. Thankfully i have been blessed with yet another good bubby. Molly gets her 4mth needles on Tuesday, I have been so busy that i am acopke of weeks behind. I also need to get an appoint at the HN to chart her progress. She is a much more petite bub than the last three, so i am happy with that too.
Anyway i will try and get in here more often abnd try and keep up with what you are all doing.
Cheers
aawww, sorry to hear your dh lost his job kat. Has he been able to find another job? It's good to hear that Molly is a content baby. It makes life a lot easier when they're content, doesn't it.
We went and visited friends of ours today who had their 2nd baby (girl) on Tuesday. She had a 25 minute labour and went home after only 6 hours at the hospital!! Her bub was 8lb 6oz, but she looks sooo tiny still. Emily looked like a monster next to her, lol!
Jodi the sleep in is til 8am!! The 11 pm bed times are really kiling me as it means 0 downtime for me. (Or DH time) I think they are improving though. Both are settled in bed now and have been since about 9 ish, so hopefully!!
Sorry to hear about DH losing his job Kat...
I should probably take advanatge of the girls being asleep and get some myself..
hugs xoxo
Good to hear form you Kat and sorry to hear about your DH atleast Molly is making it a bit easier being so content.
Jodi I know what you mean I had coffee with some friends who have a 5wk and 8wk and Amelie looked so big and grown up. Where did my newborn go? I now know why peolpe want another baby. Beacause I miss that newborn stage already even though this stage is beautiful too.
shez - how'd your night go, did the girls stay asleep?
Took the girls to Maccas this morning for brekkie. Haven't done that in ages. DH really wanted to try some new burger with avocado or something on it. But the maccas we went to were having electrical problems, and we could only get limited food. Not even any hash browns So dh didn't get his burger. But Nina had so much fun playing in the playground. It's so hot here today, think I might go jump in the pool.
Well I didn't take advantage of my sleeping beatuies I stayed up til after midnight enjoying the quiet!!
Jodi Bella came stumbling into my bed at 3am and Ava slept til 620 so it was a good night yes!
Hope all are well.
I have a girlfriend who is 36weeks and showing signs of PE so they are admitting her tomorrow for steriods for bubs then probable indcution on tuesday. Praying everything goes well.
Hugs xox
Kristale - doh! that's a bummer...Joondalup was a bit of a hike for me and I'm NOR in Ballajura so you'd need a packed lunch and water bottle LOL...maybe there is one SOR, your child health nurse might know?
Well, DS has been a velcro baby all day and has refused to sleep. I thought I was doing really well with what I learnt at Hush Baby but I guess sometimes they just want to grizzle and cry for no reason. He's finally gone down in his cot but is lying there awake making noises.
Earlier I just stuck him in his pram and wheeled into the kitchen so he could see me while I prepared dinner. That's all he wanted - to have me in sight at all times. I think he just wants to show off his new sounds...the last couple of days he has really found his voice and has been making all sorts of new noises and then cracks up laughing! Too cute
