kass : oh dear over key as for silent reflux i have no advice, we had few days where Luke was very unsettled but they coincided with when it was quite breezy outside and we had been out in the wind as such..could that be happening with Lucy we all get cross when we can't make them stop crying and the lack of sleep doesn't help matter

stevie : glad hubby has realised he may need to get help, we are always here if ya need to vent, talk etc

AFM : I got some hiruoid cream someone on BB suggested it feet look so much better today still a little puffy but not sore

we had a fairly good night luke in bed by 10pm woke at 2am and 4.50am for feeds he did wake at 7am but i brought him into bed with me and jack joined us at 7.45am we all slep till 8.15am i know jack and i would have slept longer but cranky pants luke wanted a feed so much better than him waking at 5.30am for the day yesterday and not going back down till 8.30am by which jack was up I was cranky tired mummy by bedtime last night also was first day alone jase has gone back to work and I think I overdid it with the washing so today will fold washing and unpack from last week and thats it

    Hi Ladies.

Boomba - good to see you in here!! Jasper Leo - born 24th of Oct, at 6:00pm (7 pound 15 oz).

Fi - Congrats on completing your last uni assignment ever - what a great feeling that is!! Amazing job managing that with a newborn

Stevie - Feel free to vent hon. I agree with what the others have said - having a baby puts strain on the best of relationships, so its understandable that if you have some issues, they will come to the forefront now. You are in the most difficult stage at the moment, so I think things will get better for both of you (lack of sleep can make the best of us short-tempered!!). As Alissa grows she will also add a different dimension to your relationship. At the moment she is just taking from the two of you (sleep, milk, sanity - lol), but there will soon come a day when the 2 of you will lose count of the amount of times she has made you laugh in a single day. Hang in there. It will be easier to address problems in your marriage when you are not giving so much of your time and energy to the little one.

Dedicated Mummy - I'm not familiar with silent reflux, but DS1 had reflux (and wind/colic) quite bad. We found the most effective treatment to be chiropractic care. Various studies have found digestive issues in newborns to be muscular-skeletal based rather than gastro-intestinal based.
Jasper's wind has not been as bad, but after 2 chiro appointments there has been a major improvement in his digestion. The chiro also treated him for his blocked tear duct which has also been eliminated naturally (quite amazing). I highly recommend this method of treatment based on my personal experience - there are no side effects like there are with reflux drugs etc.

Tammie - half your luck hon!! 5-6 hour stretches at night - ENJOY is all I can say!!

Rach - sounds like you are doing pretty well to keep up with the washing with 2 littlies. My house is looking rather hideous at the moment

LJ - hope your day out with the MIL went well. Sometimes getting out and about is the best thing for us - even when all we feel like doing is crawling into a hole!!

    Mummy strength to everyone!!

Stevie I'm so glad DH has realised that his behaviour is hurting all of you and is getting some help, that is such a wonderful, positive step. It shows just how much he really cares about you and Alissa.

DM - OMG about the keys and crazy expenses you incurred! I'm not too sure about silent reflux but interestingly I had a visit from the local health nurse this morning and she said that a lot of babies are misdiagnosed with wind/colic/reflux when they cry during the night and do all the things typically associated with these conditions - she said the majority of the time they are in fact just overtired. Not sure if this is the case or not but thought I'd mention it as something to consider anyway as I was very surprised when she told me.

JB I'm with you on the chiro thing. I haven't actually taken Leila yet but I am thinking about it. It's amazing what chiro's can do. A few years ago I used to get tonsilitis all the time and almost had to have them out when by chance I was at an expo thing and they had chiro's there talking about all the things that could be fixed with their treatment. So I started seeing a chiro in the hope of helping with my tonsilitis (never thought this would help & never understood how adjusting your back could fix something in your throat!) but I have never had tonsilitis since! Also during late pregnancy I was having terrible back problems so went to the chiro and was completely fixed in no time. It's amazing how they can realign your whole body and put everything back into balance.

AFM all going well. Another pretty good night for us. Leila is sleeping peacefully at the moment and I am so chilled now that I have my anglecare monitor - I haven't been in to check on her once!! The nurse this morning said that Leila was just gorgeous, that I'm doing fabulously as a mother and genearlly everything is just perfect - really good weight gain & growth and she said she just looks like a really happy, relaxed baby etc. So I feel great knowing that my little girl is doing so well plus the recognition that I'm doing so well as a mother was nice too as it is not always easy - in fact it's really tough at times, as we all know!

Hmmm, now that I've finished uni and have a baby that sleeps well I don't really know what to do with myself! Cleaning.... nah!! That can wait

Jellybean- I have always been against chiro, until I found an amazing man who fixed my back. First he had a massive convo with me about all my fears. Best thing was he agreed with what I was saying and showed me his take on chiro work. Extremly different to many others. I spoke to him about newborn care and he convinced me of its amazing results Im very much against drugs and toxins unless last resort so I might give him a bell.

Fi- Totally get where your health nurse is coming from. When Annabelle was a baby I was told by mum etc to keep burping as she 'had wind'. I called the health nurse line, one really bad night. She told me Annabelle was being over stimulated by me trying to burp her for so long and she was over tired
Having said that, Lucy is different, it really seems like something else

Rach- Sounds like my house having the bigger one jump into bed with me I love cuddling my girls in bed.
Sounds like Luke is settling down a little hopefully he keeps it up!

So how is everyones feeding going?

also am stressing as I can't seem to get any milk when i pump was doing real well up till yesterday, was getting on average 75mls from both bb's up till sat, then I didn't pump as much on sun due to only hvaing the manual, pumped sun night got 120ml... picked up pump yesterday finally managed o pump in the arvie got 50ml in 10min since then though I have pumped 6 times and bairly managed to get anything the most I got was 10ml from both bb's I am drinking heaps of water probably not eating as much but is hard with luke wanting to be cuddled.. I feel like I am failing everythingn was going so well and all of a sudden its gone downhill

no he has fussed from birth I have fibrous nipples or something like that makes it hard for him to suck I dont know it was going so well pumping etc, and I kept thinking once I got the new pump everythingn would be easier being a dual electric etc.. as for ABA well I could ring the silly cow out here but everytime I see her I want to run she is a **** the one in gladstone is great but she was very pushy about attaching etc... as I said am seeing Child health tomorrow so will talk to her but I think with the pain I am in tonight I am going to try to see dr in morning hopefully I can make a appoint for around same time as CHN appoint as I have to walk to both and they are next door to each other so would be more convenient... I know very well a lasec tablet would take the pain right away but I dont think you can take that while BF anyway going to see if jase will give them a good rub while luke is sleeping then try and hit the hay myself

Rach hope you got some decent sleep last night and that you are feeling a little better about everything. Maybe you are having trouble with your milk because you are stressed? Not sure how much of an impact stress has but sometimes I worry about my milk when I am stressed and I think worrying about it just makes it worse!

We didn't have a very good night last night. It was a weird one actually, Leila didn't cry all night or anything but she just wouldn't sleep for more than an hour - hour half at a time then needed a feed. So of course I didn't really sleep at all with the feeding, burping, settling, feeding, burping, settling etc!! She settled ok so it's not like we are back to having her screaming and unsettled all the time thank goodness, but far out it took it out of me! I got so frustrated at one point and started worrying about my milk - if I was producing enough, was it good enough for her, why was she needing to feed to frequently etc. Also she is a strong little girl! She's already moving around the bassinet changing positions! We swaddle her so she moves like a little worm, it's so funny! I'll put her down in one position and before I know it she's changed - so if I put her on her tummy with head to right side, before I know it she's managed to lift her head and move it to left side. And on her back, well she just squirms and wriggles constantly Let's hope she sleeps better tonight otherwise mummy might lose her mind from sleep deprivation!

Oh I love all of our names - well done girls on choosing such lovely names for your babies

Hope everyone has a good day and an even better night!

    hello ladies,
oh fi you poor thing Ali's pretty good at night but we do have our occassional bad night (last night for example) and its not that she's crying, she's just awake. Eyes wide open and not even a sign of sleepiness, whereas me im sitting there with my eyes hanging out of my head, nodding off to sleep.
Kass, im sorry but i had a giggle that you found your keys the next day.. baby brain, my sweet

Yes, there is a bunch of nice names in this group, all very different and absolutely gorgeous

AFM, we had a grumpy day yesterday, but about mid afternoon she had a chuck and calmed down alot, she wasnt screaming, just grizzly. Today she was AWESOME. i took her up to MILs place i expressed some milk, i was abit worried coz i hadnt tried her on a bottle properly yet, but i had so much housework that i just cant get done when im on my own with her, i was only ment to leave her there for an hour but time got away from me, and it ended up being almost 3 hours but she was so good, she drank the EBM from the bottle with no dramas and she was a happy lil chappy all day
the in laws LOVE having her up there, i dont talk to my mum so its good that she has one set of granparents that adore her like they do, and selfishly it makes my life a million times easier, especially now that i can express milk and leave her with them
anyway am off to get some dinner, and do the nightly routine, on that note, im starting to get a routine (its taken me long enough ) which is really good, but then DH will come home and throw it all out LOL
    have a good night.
Sending awesome sleepy vibes to all our babies xxx

    Hi mums,

I have just caught up - i think.

Fi - i have been going through similar unsettled times with Eli and did some reading and found that bubs have a 3 week growth spurt which makes them unsettled and just want to feed constantly. The good news is that it usually only lasts for a day or 2 and will help to increase your milk supply... the bad news is that it is super draining even if it is only a short period of time. They also have growth spurts which can be similar in week 6 and 3 mths and 6 mths....

Stevie - you don't need me to tell you how hard having a bub is on ANY relationship... be it a partner or any other family member. In your case it is just especially hard because you aren't together to support eachother as much... as everyone else has said, hang in there because it will improve as you get settled with bub and get into a bit of a routine etc..... huge hugs in the meantime though!

Rach - i am impressed that you can pump as much as you do! it hurts... maybe i do it wrong or something but i find it quite painful and can only pump for about 15 mins at a time.... good luck increasing your milk supply again though!

Oh - i have visitors that have just turned up so better go and will be back soon!

Hugs to all and best wishes for a restful night!
