FLUFFY Yay on the tooth arriving

TANYA We call BJ the squeeling Monkey. I say to him "you're not a monkey you know"

AMANDA Glad your DS is ok. What a fright you must've had

BELFIE LOL on the horizontal stripes. Must look so cute

TERU Yay for your period coming back. Does that mean you're gonna ttc again now?

Well we are still waiting for the second top tooth to come through. It's like watching grass grow! I'm not sure if grumble bum here is grumpy cause of his teething OR lack of sleep! I said to DH yesterday that I think he's so cranky cause he's so tired. He's lucky to sleep 2 hours throughout the day. And I mean lucky. It's normally around 1 - 1.5hours. I just can't get him to sleep more. I'm hoping it is cause of his teething *sighs*. I can see this tooth buldging through the gum & I keep wondering if today is the day.

girls - had the worst morning

Had 6 - 9 month check with mchn - not the one i usually see

Z has put on 80 gms in 4 weeks - well yeah, cos he wont eat. Had cited to me the recent studies of bls - so I say ok - but he wont eat off the spoon - but apparently i aint consistent enough.

Oh and cos Z rolls onto his back and wont stay on tummy - he wont learn to crawl - again - i know but what can i do short of pushing him back onto his tummy - yes, that is what i am supposed to do.

iron levels - i know they are depleting i am not dumb - but if he wont eat - i mean far out!

so i have got home feeling like a failure to my child - and that is just not right. he is happy, bright eyed and sleeps well - so come on!!!

rant over, but i am taking a break - back soon xx

Sami big , you know what if your a bad mum, then so am I. Julian has only had 3 trys of food and that's over 4 weeks. As for him not staying on his tummy long enough, we both know that babies do things in their own time, Julian has only just started to sit up unaided. We can be bad mummy's together, lol. Z is doing a good job growing at his own rate, which is good for him.

Well Julian cut his third tooth last night, his top right. Not much else going on here, DH has a bad head cold so came home early today and is snoring on the couch now, lol.

    Default Wooooooooooooohooooooooooooo

    *Doing a little dance*

She's put on weight!!! 300 grams. So.. she's finally 6kgs!!!! I thought she was never gonna be 6 kgs. I am so happy and relieved!!! I don't know what'll happen now in terms of her weight. Maybe she'll now stay 6kgs for months and months. But gee I am just happy that she had a good weight gain finally and that she's no longer in the 5 kgs range! I just hope she continues to do well.

On the flipside she has not been sleeping well at all. She's now getting about 2 to 3 hours during the day. I'm not sure if it's teeth or because I keep having a million things on each day at the moment. So she's being dragged around and missing out on lots of her nap time. She's also not sleeping well at night.. waking 2 or more times.

Sami - Oh I so know how you feel hun! I've felt like such a failure for such a long time now re: Maya's weight. I am having a hard time getting Maya to eat from a spoon now too. I don't think you can force them! I mean she clamps down her mouth super tight! How I am supposed to get a spoon past that! Was the MCHN saying that BLS isn't a good thing to do? I also went to my MCHC this morning and I really don't like my new local centre. The nurse made me feel crappy too telling me that I need to get more iron into her quick smart and that babies that lose so much weight can end up being developmentally slow. She was telling me that I should be feeding her more and that I should have been feeding more when she was losing all that weight. Anyway, both Z and M are happy and healthy - what more can we ask for?

Georgi - Maya keeps copying BJ! Her sleeps are now terrible too!

Fluff - Yay on the tooth!

    Teru
    - Have you got a mums group?

    belfie
    - Aww.. hope you are feeling better soon!

Amanda - Great to hear your DS is OK!

CONGRATS Tanya! that's fabulous! You must be so thrilled with her weight! I hope she starts sleeping better soon.

SamiH - that MHCN sounds just foul! Don't listen to her, daft biddy. Z is happy and healthy she doesn't need to go scare-mongering!!!

AmandaJ - well you made me feel better too, cos our progress with solids has been pretty slow. We've only tried 3 foods so far (delayed cos of green poop), but we've done BLS the last two nights, and it seems HEAPS better. Congrats to Julian on his third tooth!

Georgi, Fluffaholic - bring on the teeth!

Teru - wow that's amazing what he's doing! And as Tanya said, do you have a mother's group?

well we're going ok here. Finally a smidge of improvement with solids, now trying BLS... he actually fed himself something... even though it was only about 1/2 tsp worth. Baby steps lol. I still haven't worked out if I should feed him things I can't eat or not... really gotta check into that. But if I go by my limits, it really limits what I give him! And on the flip side, it would feel weird to prep foods that I can't even taste test for him. Oh I dunno. I've gotta chase up with the hospital to find out I think.

I've been feeling a bit flat - just too many things one after the other for me - DH's back, car crash, busy doing bookkeeping, some health problems... etc etc. So I'm trying to pick myself up, lots of good food, and a walk a day... and finally getting to mother's gropu for the first time in about 2 months. Hopefully that'll all help.

SAMI What was she saying about BLS? I'm curious. I haven't had BJ's 6 month check cause I know it'll do my head in, just like it has yours. What more can you do??? BJ has never been a big feeder, BF wise, & it always freaked me out. But I just look at him & think he looks healthy & is growing, if he wanted more milk he'd ask for it! You are doing your absolute best & I'd love to see her try & feed him. Please don't listen to her. You are doing a wonderful job and I doubt there's anyone out there that could do better. Oh, and BJ doesn't like being on his tummy for too long either. He always flips onto his back and will occaisionally roll onto his front. He does prefer to sit though. He's a good sitter, doesn't fall over anymore

BELFIE Yay... BLS! I noticed you posted in the BLS, but checked in on this thread first. I was wondering why you posted there. Gonna check it out after this. Lol, the BLS thread has turned into the Oct buddies

TANYA How strange are our kids??? Gees, BJ is very naughty teaching Maya all this stuff tee he he... I'll have a talking to him in the morning. Though, he's not teaching her to wake overnight. He sleeps well till around 5am. Woohoo on the weight gain, that's excellent

AMANDA BJ Has his top right too, just waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting for the top left to come through. It's taking forever

So... Today, BJ slept for 30 mins in the morning (9.30) then I put him down again at 1.20pm, he only slept to 2pm. So i fed him at 2.15 (in his room) and rocked & patted him back to sleep. He was fighting it badly. He would close his eyes then wake up crying. I just held him tight & made him go back to sleep. So, he was asleep in my arms so I lay on the single bed with him & he slept for another 1hr 20mins. Clearly he needs this amount of sleep so WHY WON"T HE JUST SLEEP? I don't have the time to nap for 2 hours with him everyday.. ANY SUGGESTIONS????? I was gonna try a comforter to see if that helps. I have it down my top as I type hoping my scent will transfer onto it.

    Quickie

Georgi - study from Tasmania and apparently showed that even though BLS bubs appear to end up eating more cos they dont get the vitamins/minerals until around 12 months wehn they are eating property (by themselves though!!) - it can affect their development and slow it down. Who knows.

Thanks for the validations girls, but I had a very sleepless night stressing about this all night worrying about him - I mean, he doesnt look skinny and shriveled - he has chubby thighs for goodness sake!!

I tried rice cereal with avo mixed through again (he likes avo and will mush pieces of it) - but he had a zip lock lip thing going on for sure - then, ripped off a crust off Giselles toast - was screaming out reaching for it and sucked it happily for 5 mins - came back out again - I think that is their point is that he needs to actually swallow it?? LOL

Seeing a nutritionist on Monday (already had that booked you might remember cos of the allergy thing, which he seems ok with - I have given him that Zucchini slice Georgi lol, and a tast of spag bol sauce - tomato and egg :O) - she might be able to gimme some tips for the iron bit and still try BLS at the same time. He just seems so much happier picking food up himself - and he cant live on custard

Gotta get showered for school run - thank goodness having lunchw itha girlfriend today - take my mind of it - yeah right/\. Paul still away which makes it worse - back Sunday late night ...

    Have a great weekend

I'm so excited, this morning when I went into get Julian for a feed he said BUBBA, his first word it was so cute, then he kept saying it, but when I want him to do it for DH he didn't want to say it anymore the cheeky little monkey. Forgot to say yesterday that he is 7mths, boy has that gone quick, their first birthdays are fast approaching, it's all too soon .

I'm excited too! Maya started saying DADADA. She did it at dinner yesterday so my DH heard it too. It's so cute to hear a first word.

Happy 7 months Julian! And yay on your first word.

Sami - It sounds like Z won't take a spoon but he will put food in his mouth. Even if he's not swallowing the food he's still getting something out of it by sucking on it. I think there's no reason to give up on giving him food to suck on. You can continue to try and spoon feed him AND give him food to suck on (and actually eat eventually Maya won't take a spoon so I can either let her starve or give her food which she can feed herself. Also my MCHN was encouraging me to do BLS saying that that's where we want them to head towards - independent eating! I'm seeing the paediatrician on Monday again so I'll talk to her about it too and let you know what she says about BLS.

Georgi - Maya didn't wake last night. Hope you can sort out BJs day sleeps. The only thing I find that works for Maya if she won't settle is a dummy so that's not helpful for you if BJ won't take one.

    belfie -

Hi to everyone else. Gotta go hang my washing.

Oh wow, congrats Tanya & AmandaJ - that's awesome work with the talking! X is still just squealing & raspberries lol. Now if I just changed my name to BBBBWWWWFFFFPPPPHHH, I'd be right!

    Happy 7 months to Julian!

    fluff-a-holic - woo hoo 3 teeth that's awesome.

SamiH - glad you're feeling better re feeding & Z. You know what you're doing. Stooopid MHCN. GL with the nutritionist on Monday, hope that's helpful.

Georgi - eep that's hard work with the naps. Is he teething? Just the fact he's waking up crying when he'd already gone off sounds suss to me. And if so, have you tried the Brauers Teething relief & some gel? I found that always helped for us.... so saying you're very capable so i'm probably wasting my words saying any of this lol.

Well we had MG here yesterday it was great! Finally some socialisation with other mums & bubs again! One bub is crawling, another commando crawling... OMG they were hilarious. And X just rolls around like a big marshmallow puff grinning with his toothy smile!

DH's aunt just died last night, so the IL's & DH are all off to the funeral next week (interstate), but X and I will stay here I think. She'd been ill (cancer) for a long time, so we'd been able to prepare for it. Really makes you consider your own mortality and quality of life... and to appreciate it. She was a lovely lady who lived life to the full and would want others to celebrate her life as opposed to mourn her death. I'm so glad I knew her.

    quick q abt period:
how has it been since it returned? has it been the same as before pg or less?
ive had it for 3-4 days now (i think) but theres never been alot. its even less than the end of period. its pretty much a spot here & a spot there. does that sound normal?
im abit baffled, wondering whether i should worry or not, or even go see a doctor?

teru - funny i should read this now --- my first cycle back was about 2.5 months ago - but it wasnt a true period either - a couple of days of constant spotting - I would call it light. Then 6 weeks later, and on Zanders baptism morning no less (owwies) I got another one - and it was the heaviest one I had had since I could remember - the first three days I kept the sanitary manufacturers in business.

I say funny, cos I had a sore back on Friday and thought, oh gosh, surely it isn't a month since Zanders baptism already and ran to the calendar - and sure enough, this morning I have woken with it - 28 days on the dot which is normal for me

I am cranky now cos I am not having any more kids so why do I still have to have one WAHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh LOL

So, hold off seeing a doc, might be the warning that your body is getting back to normal - see what the next 6 weeks brings - especially if you are normally pretty reliably regular like me

Zander woke and had a feed at 3am - and then woke at 6.10 WHYYYYY OH WHYYYY - that is far too early ..... especially as Paul still away today and i have to entertain them ALllllll day again ... bring on tomorrow I say .

SAMI You never know, you might have one more, maybe an oopsy???? Have you got pics of the christening? What did Z wear? I'm currently looking at white suits for BJ. He's getting baptised on June 14th

TERU My first one back was last month & it was pretty normal. But I haven't got it again & I was meant to 3 days ago. So I'm guessing it'll be another couple of weeks or so. But you shouldn't be concerned. I read that what you're experiencing is very normal

BELFIE Your words are never wasted Yep, he's teething, and these sleep issues started when his bottom teeth were coming through. His top right has cut, but the top left is taking the scenic route. He's not crappy atm though so I think he's just gotten use to not sleeping. Yesterday he slept for 10mins in the morning, then 30mins in the arvo. Then bed at 7pm. He was still in good spirits though, so I guess that's the good thing

FLUFF BJ has stopped squeeling the past few days, so hopefully Jack is not far behind

TANYA Yay on the dadda.. What a clever little vegemite you have there. How'd she go last night? BJ slept till 6.15am, which i'm pretty happy about, but I reckon it's cause he only had 40mins during the day

AMANDA Another clever bub hey. Bubba - very cute

SAMI I tried to google that study but couldn't find anything. I hope Z liked the zucchini slice

fluff - Maya is still squealing too. But in between her squeals she'll talk now.

belfie - Sorry to her about your DH's aunt. Good to hear you made it back to MG. I love going to MG. I try not to miss any get togethers because I always find it good to talk to other mums IRL!

teru - I haven't had a period yet. But I have started getting cramps on and off. I'm not sure if that's normal or not. A few of them have been very painful!

Sami - I hope Z sleeps better for you tonight.

Georgi - Maya slept well again last night. I think she does copy BJ. He's sleeping well now and so is she.

Well.. I've now heard her say "dada" and "lala" and I swear she said "mama" but I probably imagined that one.

Yesterday I was doing research online for sleeping bags and found out there was a sale on yesterday at the snug time factory, which is very close to me. So I rushed there and got myself some bargain sleeping bags! $10 each!! Now I think I should have bought more cos today I went to baby bunting and saw that they are about $40-50! But I just wanted to get a few to try first.

Georgi - That's exciting that he's crawling. Even if it is backwards.

Well today I'm off to see the paediatrician again. And then afterwards I'm going to visit my old mums group! I really miss them and I can't normally be bothered driving the hour to see them. But the doctor's office is about half way between my house and there.
