Nikki - A+ results but disruptive sounds to me like either a) he isnt being extended enough in class - if he can get A+ and still have time to be disruptive, he sounds bored. That was me in maths through the best part of high school, but especially years 9 and 10.
Or he is embarrassed about being smart so is compensating by trying to be cool as well?
What did the teachers suggest to try - they shouldnt just be saying hes disruptive, talk to him etc, they should have a formulated approach, especially at a private school. Can they give him extended work or get him to help the other kids (would he do it?) instead of being a distraction?
It doesn't really step up in terms of workload until year 11 and 12, unless the school will allow him to take on a year 11 subject in year 10 - which would enable him to have the more challenging work to do, and less time to be bored.
Cindy - what do you tihnk of the yellow? I like the opaque (mixing bowls etc) but am not sold on the sheer stuuf. And dont start me on the forms.
