Phoenix - The dancing sounds cute! You should try and video it.

pmccask - I hear you on the sleeping! Sounds like we are all in the same boat atm.

I have been up at least 3 times a night for I can't remember how long - last night it was 4! I am tired and have had enough. Is anyone considering putting bubs on formula after 6 months. I am considering it for a few reasons - but feel that would be to selfish and then the guilt sets in. I just don't know what to do.

Sleeping -arrrghhhh what is that!!! My gorgeous little baby who has been sleeping 10hours since she was 7 weeks has been kidnapped and replaced. She has been sick and had a growth spurt and all that sleep regression stuff everyone talks about but it's now been going on about 5-6 weeks. I must admit the past two nights we're down to one wake up at between 2-3am a feed and back to sleep until 6ish.

I thought starting solids at dinner followed by feed before bed might drop that feed again but so far no luck.

Marni - we're gonna video it and try and post it on FB. With DH's family spread across the country they love being able to see the updates on her.

Planning on keeping her BF for as long as I can keep it up, I'm WAY too lazy to worry about bottles lol

Phoenix - I would love just one wake up a night! I guess I am lucky that she hasn't ever slept through. It is worse going back to waking up once they have been sleeping through.
I know what you mean about facebook - my sister is in the navy so I post heaps so she doesn't miss out on so much.

Phoenix, I know what you mean about sleep! DD has been a great sleeper until the teeth arrived! Now shes up usually once between 10-6 then up at 6 and back till 9-10 if Im lucky.

My little girl is Elizabeth. We didnt give our son an English name, but his Chinese name is Teng Li.
Miss E was 6kg and 65cm last weigh in (19 weeks - 21/9) due to go again at 27 weeks (18/11)
She was 4kg and 53cm at birth, but failure to thrive, and her lowest weight was 3.1kg
She is following the WHO 25th percentile now, so we are back to normal checkups. She has a paediatrician appointment in a fortnight fingers crossed everythings good.
We are delaying solids until after 6 calendar months, on paeds advice, as she need to gain weight (and BM is more calorie dense than solids) and to avoid intolerances/allergies .
At 6 months we'll do veg&congee(rice cereal/porridge), 7 months fruits, 8 months wheat/dairy/eggs.
Shes sitting briefly, rolling both ways, has 2 teeth, commando crawling (randomly) chatting heaps, and starting to do "arms up" for pick me up and offering mer toys for me to "nom nom" on
Shes an absolute delight!
Im very lucky though, that DH has taken time off work, since I was flown to King Edwards at 32 weeks, (DD cooked till 41 weeks, and I was allowed to have her down in Albany, where my family is, as I spent 4 weeks in hospital at the end of the pregnancy down here) and was on bed rest until DD was 8 weeks old (I had PPH, and needed regular transfusions) and is still only doing 2 days a week.
I know I couldnt do it without him!

welcome trish! Sorry about your little boy Glad your little girl is a delight!

Marni - I've been thinking about doing a formula bottle at bed time, just so I know E is getting a good full feed. I'm always second guessing myself if she wakes up soon after going to bed or even when she wakes in the middle of the night, not sure if it's hunger or not. As yet E has shown only hatred toward the idea of a bottle (even of EMB) so not sure how she would go. I'm under a bit of pressure from my MIL to keep breast feeding. She's convinced DH got asthma because she didn't feed him (I have a science/genetics background, don't get me started), and both my girls have eczema so she's fairly forthright with her opinion that bfing is the best thing for E. I fed my first for 14 months and so do feel a bit of guilt to continue because of that too. I'd also like to know E was full when I put her to bed though. Not sure what I'll do. Do what you feel is right.

teeth - I retract my previous statement (from 2 days ago!) about E not teething. I can now see both of the two bottom teeth just below the skin and one has almost ruptured. She is biting everything in sight.

Good luck for a long night's sleep tonight! Or at least not too many wakings, can't get too excited.

trish - Welcome! Woo hoo another baby buddy! E sounds gorgeous, a very clever little girl! It sounds like you've been through quite a lot with your pregnancy and beyond and angel baby. B has been on the 25th percentile at all his weigh-ins so our bubs would be similar sizes! Your DH sounds lovely too!

pmccask - Teeth, yippee!! (yes, that was sarcasm!)

Phoenix - One wake up between bed and 6am ain't bad at all imo! I hope she doesn't go backwards again for you. Maybe all the dancing is tiring her out...

Marni - How's P now?

Feeding - I was quite worried about B for awhile as he fed for literally 2 mins max on each side (including a whole lot of grizzling). Now it's about 4 mins each side, with lots more grizzling! I used to think he'd never sleep for more than a few hours without getting hungry but he goes 10-11 hours regardless of how 'big' that last feed is. I think they get very efficient, plus I read that by 6 months, they can go at least 12 hours overnight between feeds. I wouldn't worry about formula - they'll feed if they want it. As long as they're still gaining weight.

Sleep - A friend's bub was waking at night cos he was rolling and ending up on his tummy then couldn't get back to sleep. She tried wrapping again and it's helped. Another has her girl in a sleeping bag and says this helps (B is in a bag too and doesn't roll). Might be worth a try... B has gone two nights now without waking for 10 hours! No idea what's changed, but I'm sure it won't last long!

Sitting and rolling - B has decided that it's not for him so much anymore! He just shoots his legs straight out so he can't sit down, much prefers standing or even lying on his tummy! If he does sit, he will usually roll over before too long. He rolled twice on Saturday and three times in his cot yesterday arvo instead of going to sleep!

Food - B doesn't seem to be taking so well to the rice cereal. He spits out 99.9%. Today we tried some banana with it but no luck - he did the 'you're poisoning me' face again! This might be a loooooong road...

Morning everyone

Trish - your DD sounds adorable, sounds like you had very rough pregnancy and beyond you poor thing. My DD has been on 25th percentile since birth she's a little pipsqueak a chubby one though coz she's a shorty at 61cm at 6 months

Jleigh - not sure A is so keen on solids either and she feeds better with her dad than me, I suppose I'm her walking milk supply and she loves her boobies. She's not keen on rice cereal so I've stewed up some apple & pear and also some pumpkin & sweet potato which she seems to prefer. DH is back to work tomorrow so might have to hand the feeding over to mum if she continues to kick up a stink when I feed her.

Sleeping - A is in a sleeping bag and past couple of weeks has been sleeping on her belly, she hates sleeping on her back now for some reason, she was waking soon after going to sleep & refusing to go back to sleep but soon as we turned her over onto her belly she's out like a light so now that how she sleeps - takes after her mummy I think. From waking 3-4 times a night past few weeks, she got down to once for a few nights but last night she slept nearly 10 hours, not getting my hopes up but it's a step in the right direction again.

Rolling - I have a sneaky roller, if she doesn't want to sleep and I put her down in her cot I go in to find her on her back kicking the sides of the cot in protest or chatting to her mobile or screaming her head off but put her on the floor she gets as far as waving her legs in the air.

Sitting - she's getting close but is more interested in her toes so always tips over as she goes to reach for them.

Teeth - no sign of them yet, her gums still seem pretty soft and pink. Will miss those gummy smiles when they do eventually show up.

Hope everyone is having a great day, it's lovely and sunny here today so plan on making the most of it once A wakes up from her nap......which by some minor miracle has been 2.5hours so far (which she self settled for, another minor miracle)

Afternoon Everyone! It feels like ages since I have been in here! Facebook just seems easier I guess..lol.

Hello and Welcome trish! Happy to have you on board! Im sorry to hear of your angel baby, but glad to hear your DD is doing so well! You're DH sounds amazing - just like mine

So here is the wrap up of late - Elijah is now having 1 formula bottle before bed, about 100-150ml now. It's great, because I know it fills him up, I am BF the rest of the time. He has been waking twice a night now, for the last 2 nights, which is way better than 4. He is only feeding for like 5 minutes or so, then dozes straight back to sleep.

He is also having 2 solid food meals a day too. Lunch and dinner. I think he is teething, dribbling alot, and chewing on everything, and his top and bottom 2 teeth are coming up and down. So I think that has something to do with it.

I am looking forward to the 30th of October, as its our first wedding anniversary...so putting E on bottles is good. He took straight to it, and i know that getting him babysat will be ok, because he loves the bottle so far!

I was thinking that we do the meet up in november? I am busy for hte next few weekends, but the middle of November should suit...is this ok for all you brissy girls? (that includes sunshine coasters and outside brissy girls too)

Well after 4 nights of sleeping through again, we had a set back of waking up last night - hoping it might just be effect of her needles she had on Thursday. I can happily say A can roll from tummy to back.......it's now everytime I put her to bed whether in her sleeping bag or not if she's not tired or when she wakes up she rolls on to her back and refuses to go back to sleep.

DH is away, he's now swapped to 3 and 3 roster will see how it goes only three days in but think the real test will be getting close the the normal 2 weeks mark. I'm lucky though if it doesn't work he'll go back to 2 and 2, told him I'll go in and sit in his bosses office all day when A is having her grumpy days until he agrees lol

Well I better go hang out some washing, I'm off to lunch with my best friend before she heads off to India for 4 weeks

Phoenix - Hope that Alycia goes back to not waking for you. We wake so much that in the morning I have lost track of where we are up to. When your DH is away, does he work everyday? or does he have days off? Hope that you had a nice lunch.

JLeigh - Funny Bos, they learn something new and want to do it and then just as suddenly stop. He will get used to food when he is ready! I love seeing there faces while eating though.

Sleepy - Yay on the dress! Make sure you get him to take you out now or just wear it at home. With the meet, I am up for it but wondering if we can do it on the Northside? There are great parks at Chermside and Shorncliffe. Its just that Phoebe still isn't awfully keen on the car and thats about as far as I can handle the screaming for, lol.

Hi to everyone!

Well we saw a movie today, was really nice even if we did only go out for a couple of hours. However it seems that Miss Phoebe thinks that milk only comes from mummy. She refused the bottle from grandma but happily drank it from me when we got home. So they had a screaming baby for part of the afternoon! Oh well, I just have an extra attachment til she weans. She was getting all better but now seems to be getting a cough back. Why can't second babies get a good run!!!

She is confidently sitting up now - even pulling herself back into position if she tips over a bit but still only rolls randomly. Loves her food though and lunges at the spoon, so cute! Sleeping is still hit and miss. She goes down easily enough I just am not sure why she is waking more overnight but I guess she will sleep when she is ready. Was odd this morning, she decided to be awake from 3-4am but she wasn't crying so I just left her in her cot. After listening to her yabber away through the baby monitor for most of the hour I went in and she had done a stinker! I haven't had one overnight in forever. I guess my antibiotics have affected her a bit. Its nice to listen to her chatter though - poor baby doesn't get much of a chance to talk when her sister is awake

Marni - Oh how great it must have felt to get out and see a movie, A flat out refuses a bottle from anyone but she has been having water out of one the past couple of days so going to try again with BM once I get around to expressing some more, we depleted my supply for the wedding trying to get her to take it and haven't bothered since.

It's cute listening to them yabber away isn't it but middle of the night poo's aren't much fun when your half asleep Hope her cough goes away.

DH works everyday 11-12 hour days, weekends, public holidays etc but then the time off makes up for it, theoretically he only works 6 months a year plus gets 4 weeks annual leave if he decides to take any. I used to do the 2 and 2 and loved it - was so hard when I went back to 5 days a week I hated it.

Well the sleeping through was short lived, last night was wake up at 4, 6 and 8.30 this morning which was good.......the night before was about 4 wake ups between midnight & 6am.

Phoebe was refusing to sleep this afternoon, so I went in to get her out of her cot and she was on her hands and knees rocking!!! She is too little to crawl We have to figure out hw to stop these babies growing so fast!

Phoenix - I think the 2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off thing is great! I would have loved to have done that when I was working. Sleep - I hear you, only one wake up last night. But that is the first time in ages.

Well we had another usual night, Elijah woke up 3 times, and it was storming, so I really didnt get much sleep last night This morning was a bit of a nightmare...Cooper spilt drinking chocolate mix all over the kitchen floor, then I spilt coffee granules on the kitchen floor as well - I wasn't quite awake and was making the morning coffee So as far as days go, this one is not starting like planned. lol oh well.

We are going food shopping this morning, and I'm not looking forward to it, but I really need to go. Have no school food, no vegemite and other essentials...lol

I think E has a bit of a sore throat, he sounds a bit barky when he makes noise, but he isnt infected or doesnt have green mucus so if it gets worse, I will take him to the Dr tomorrow.

We had a great weekend, had my son's 13th birthday party, which was good, but he was upset because only 2 of his friends showed up, and he invited 15! I didn't even get any RSVP's from any of the parents either..I'm really quite upset about it. But he still had a great time, I ended up inviting some adult friends and we had a BBQ and he got a new phone, a watch and some money, so he was happy. Also the school fete was yesterday, we didn't stay long, was sooo busy and expensive and very hot in the sun...but we went and that was the important thing..lol.

Anyway, better scoot and get these kids ready, and brush my hair...lol Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hi Trish! Your little girl sounds like she is doing amazing!!

I've read everyones posts but am not going to do individual replies - just takes to long as I am SO behind. Have setup a little office so will endevour to do better now with logging in.

AFM: Af showed her ugly head earlier in the month, only 3days though so was happy. We took Zen camping and he seemed to do really well, lucky cause we are going away this friday for nearly two weeks.
Zen can easily roll from belly to back but struggles back to belly, gets stuck half way and grunts and groans.
Still completely Breastfed, about every 3-4hrs including overnight - except last night when he went till 5.30am!! WOOT WOOT. Mind you I was up at 4 expressing out a bit. My poor sore full ( . Y . )
he sleeps relatively well, it can be a 10min crying/screaming fight for his day sleeps, other times he goes down without a wimper and he self settles perfectly at night.
No teeth yet
can stand with just a bit of balance help, cant crawl, can kinda sit for a while by himself but always ends up toppling over lol. Its funny how our bubs are all at teh same kind of stages, its a great thing to see what 'normal' is

Sleepy - Glad your DS had a great b/day. I'd be upset too if nobody bothered to rsvp, some people are so rude it really isn't that hard to say yes or no to an invite.

Well from being a sneaky roller, if she doesn't want to be on her tummy she will roll onto her back no matter where she is and has a giggle after she does it. I've discovered I now need to strap her into her bouncer (I know slack slack mummy) I had her in there other day, went to the loo and in the space of about 2 mins she was on the floor on her belly by the time I got back......it was kinda funny, so now if she doesn't want to be in there out she gets herself and she pushes my hands away when I'm strapping her in. Oh and the grabbing for EVERYTHING!!

No AF here yet, kinda been expecting it for ages since up until recently she's been sleeping through and even if she does wake at night it's only for a two minute feed - think since she doesn't take a dummy she uses me to comfort suck off to sleep again.

Phoenix - it wasnt to bad having AF again, as I said it was only 3 days - pretty much the same as before Zen so I can cope with it. He is 5mths so that was a pretty good run
Yep - VERY lucky going camping. Zen has only been camping once a few weeks ago so hopefully he will be all good, I am sure he will be.
