Catherine - apparently with a c/sec they expect that you MIGHT pass clots, but it's all delayed as your uterus is more sluggish in contracting down than what it is with a VB - i was told so long as i felt ok afterwards, no offensive smell, no excessive bleeding, all would be considered normal - but if any of that happened to get my butt to GP or emergency ASAP. it actually appears that the heavier bleeding i was having last week was related to the clot cos i passed that, and everything seems to have almost stopped again. i'm not going to let it freak me out while i feel ok - but am keeping an eye on things and if it happens again or any of the other things happen, i'll toddle myself off to the GP. i did have a higher than normal level of PP bleeding which concerned them in recovery a little but it slowed within 12 hours and they stopped checking. i think it was much the same post c/s though - checking that it was just blood, not clots etc. i was still asked about it for a few days until i left hospital. would have been nice to be warned that yes, the bleeding had pretty much subsided before leaving hospital, but heavy bleeding and clots might still happen and this is what to look out for! thankfully i got a really helpful middie on the phone yesterday and she made sure i was ok with it all. i went off to MCHN and shopping and all ok. i did wonder if the loss may have impacted miss E but it doesn't appear to have done anything. she slept like a dream again last night! one fussy period in 12 hours. she does have a bit of a case of the snuffles but it doesn't seem to be stressing her too much - she slept in with us a fair bit of the night - fed herself off to sleep, dropped off the boob then rearranged herself to use my boob as a pillow - was very cute to see!

as to the reflux part of things - i THINK the MCHN was insinuating yesterday that it doesn't impact weight gain much til they're about six weeks or so - until then, they gain weight but not overly big amounts. my bro's oldest was a rather refluxy bub (no one held her without a spew rag!) and she had bigger weight gains than Emerald has so far - i guess maybe it's just a baby to baby individual thing. i'm hoping she doesn't have it, but given i have reflux myself (which sucks so bad), my mum has it, my bro's eldest had it - it's a possibility. i'm just keeping an eye on her

does anyone else have heriditary issues they have to keep an eye on with their bubbas? my family is pretty screwy, as are DH's (but at least mine are physically - his are just mental lol). my dad was born with cataracts and was blind by the time he was 8 (thankfully surgery and coke bottles reversed this), i have one eye long sighted, one short, both have astigmatisms and my optic nerve points the wrong way, and DH has kerataconus (thinning of the front of the cornea that means the pressure in his eyes makes the fronts conical instead of rounded) - it's made me very aware of E's eyes and keeping a close watch on them. i feel like i'm probably TOO attuned to what is happening (like i HATE when she tries to focus and goes cross eyed! but i think that's normal at this stage...) - but as someone that has had glasses since before i turned 1, i just want to be on top of it all... i just wondered if anyone else was feeling like this about anything...
