Hi everyone I can't make this a long post but I just wanted to suggest a few things to Alison re her neck. But I hope all the grizzly babies cheer up for Easter. Will post properly later...
Alison - You may have tried most of these things but will tell you what works for me. Basically heat, anti-inflamatories if its really painful and anti-inflammatory gel like Voltaren or Orudis gel is great on the actual site. I can recommend a great physio in Perth. His name is Salem and he's at Central City Physio in the city right next at the train station (up the top of the escalators if you know where I mean). He is fabulous at loosening stiff necks. My physio here also showed me how I should be picking Matilda up so I don't strain my neck and shoulders and it really works (I've been a bit slack with it lately and I'm paying the price). If they're lying down don't pick them up under the arm pits if you know what I mean, but scoop a hand under their back (and supporting their head/neck) and one under their butt and bring them up to your chest. It helps to lean as close as possible down to them. If it's from an elevated surface bend your knees and stick your butt out to lean down rather than lean over at the waist. You feel like a dill but it really does lessen the strain. If they're on the floor, squat down, and lift them the same way up onto your thigh then up on to your shoulder and then stand up like you're coming up from a squat (not a lunge). This all helps take the strain off. If you can't imagine quite what I mean but would like to see it I could try taking video and emailing it to you.
