No one needs to explain or justify their parenting decisions. It's good to discuss these things though as, in my opinion, we can learn from each other and possibly find out something we hadn't considered. That was my intention and Olive's I'm sure as well. We're not here to judge each other, that's what MILs are for! LOL

I'm beginning to wonder if there is a tooth on it's way at our house. Izzy has been quite out of sorts during the day and woke up screaming in pain. It could have been wind I guess but it was strange for her. She normally chats away happily in her cot when she wakes so it was really out of character. It's definitely one way to wake your parents from a nice sleep! A translation button would be nice sometimes

Izzy came so close to rolling from back to front yesterday. I reckon she'll master it this week. She's getting so frustrated trying that she cries sometimes. I have a determined little terror on my hands.

Think we'll try out the jumperoo today as Izzy's favourite thing is standing. She loves it! The jumperoo is kind of a cross between a jolly jumper and an activity station. I think she'll love it. We have a jolly jumper but don't have a doorway (with a frame) in view from the living area. Will have to try it out in our bedroom one day. Jolly jumpers are great fun

We have the same problem of no suitable doorways... we got the portable frame so she can play in the loungeroom or on the back patio if we're outside.... great idea! You can get them from Babies 'R' Us or Babies Galore

How big is the frame Janine? I had thought about getting one but am wondering if I could just use the frame from out hammock. I think that stands at 1.3 mtrs. Being able to take it outside would be good

It's about 2 metres high, and prob a metre or so wide at the legs. I don't think yours would be high enough for the chain to link through at the right height. You could always give it a go first though as they are $100.

Hmmm. Might give it a go with the hammock frame first and see what it's like. My sister reckons it will work...providing Izzy doesn't try to launch herself too high!!

Thought this might help clarify the new rules for carseats.

This is QLD rules, and this information was found on Kidsafe Qld website - Kidsafe Queensland It may be different for other users in different states.

It states the NEW QLD guidelines effective March 2010 are as follows:

0 - 6 months
Less than 8kg
Rearward facing baby capsule or infant restraint

6 - 12 months
8 - 12 kgs
rearward or forward facing infant restraint

Safety Tips

*babies should change from rearward to forward facing restraint at approx 8 - 12kgs, this will vary depending on brand of restraint.

*check the manufacturers information and product guidelines on the child restraint to ensure correct usage.


So basically from 8 - 12kgs it's up to you if you want him forward or rearward facing. Frazer is your baby, it's your carseat, and the decision is YOURS.

For those people that have thier nose out of joint because someone was just trying to pass along some information they might not have considered - you need to let it go.

Nobody was trying to change your decision or say you were a bad mother - they were mearly pointing out some more information you may have not seen.
