I did this to DH - I hated all his girl names. But he reckoned most of mine sounded like "adult" film stars.

So we just kept on going. "What do you think of *nice name*?" "No." (I needed justification for saying no to his, so we went with one of his that I didn't hate for a while until he decided he liked an old one of mine better that he wasn't over keen on at first.)

For Liebs, took us about 5 minutes to pick his name. I had a list of about 10 boys names. My favourites were out. But I like his name, as does DH. Middle names - DH picked out of two of mine, then had near free pick of the other.

However, for a girl version of Liebs - we went through hundreds of names. Hours and hours of him saying "nah." Took us 6 hours and we had three names DH didn't hate. Of those, one had to be a long version and he hated ALL the long versions, so was out. Another was a bit "meh" for us both, although we like it. The final one was the one DH changed his mind about, then again a few months later, so the one we went with.

But it was hard. Example - DH loved Sophie, but I hate it. I wouldn't mind Sophia (and call her Phia). DH hated Sophia - so why can't we have Sophie? Because I hate it, I really don't like the accent my mother's family have as they'd say "Serh-fy". And "So-fee" is OK, but not "Serh-fy". But the only two names DH came up with were Sophie and Tamsin. Those were the only ones he would consider once I made him pick some for quite a while.
