i find it hard to keep up in here too, but i certainly don't ever care if anyone doesn't manage to do personal posts. Sometimes i just don't have it in me! Other days i have lots to say.
MG- Good on you for going even though the couch gods were pulling you back. Did you feel any better afterwards? I feel bad for you that you are so low atm. A break away sounds like a good idea. DH has been away a bit lately and after 3 weeks on my own with the girls i am feeling pretty low to. It would be nice for you to have a child free break if that's what you wanted. i have MADE myself go to the gym a couple times in the past few weeks and i was clock watching. It makes it drag doesn't it.
I'm off to a class called 'fatburner' it is kind of like a group PT session. Cardio and resistance stations. I like it. I don't LOVE it like i love combat, but there is no Combat tonight.![]()
leck - nah, it's not athlete's foot. they just get you to walk on the pad. The place I go to you walk on a treadmill and they record your walk. then again with different shoes on. It's owned and run by podiatrists. It's called Active Feet.
JM - good on you for going! Clock watching does suck. My trainer tells me off for it and threatens to remove the clocks. Usually he is good at distracting me. And we do enjoy our sessions together (when I'm not in a funk). And yes, I did feel better afterwards lol. Only a little though. I'm still not feeling great about PT at the moment. It will take a little while for me to get over Friday.
I went to physio this afternoon. Didn't do Pilates - had her look at my knee instead. It was SORE. She said it is my knee cap and a result of my hips which are a result of my back. She has given me an exercise to do and told me to keep doing the new leg presses D and I did today. She said I need to build up the inside of my knee. I'm so frustrated. BUt it shouldn't be a long term injury... I hope!!!! She said no gradient for a few weeks and no running for a few weeks but happy for me to trial running once knee is better.
Plan has not worked this week yethad a few other things on which got in the way... But I've decided not to bash myself up about it
and will try again from Friday (heaps of reasons for this day - but won't go into it).
For those with motivation issues, what I find works for me is having an imaginary friend (you can imagine it's CQueen or Leesa) who's in your ear telling you to 'suck it up princess' or 'is that an excuse??'. I imagine what I would tell someone if I was trying to motivate THEM.![]()
Although having said all that, you can see it doesn't always work (see 1st paragraph).
Good luck to everyone!
Nettie - you are lucky you don't live closer or I WOULD be that voice in your ear![]()
Lisa.
My trainer DID say those things to me today (and more) and NONE of them worked! My standard response has been "bite me", "when hell freezes over" and "can I go home now?"
I just told him about my knee and he is happy with it saying it's not all bad and my VMO is easy to work. He neglected to comment on the physio's approval to trial running once my knee is better. But then, I'm also reluctant to trial it because I don't want to go backwards... although I NEED to run! I will have to build up to it on things like stepper and cross trainer. Now to convince D...
This thread is my imaginary friend! (You're all real though, aren't you? Even if I can't see you?) I feel like I need to report in that I have been exercising!
Although my daughter's snotty nose stopped me going yesterday - couldn't put her in creche with that - and her first swimming lesson today, so tomorrow I am back into it with Combat. Although I'm thinking of skipping Mothers Group & making it a double Combat & Pump to make up for my enforced slackness. I don't know what to do..........![]()
I agree Winter..this thread is my imaginary friend and motivator!!
Bereniece: Housework can be just as much as work out sometimes, especially if you vaccum.
Hollo: I am new in here too and get confused very often, I just love reading what everyone else is up to and see if anything new is going on. I also get behind and it's too late to comment on what someone has done
Toni: I only drink water (and coffee) during the day. I have a wine or bubbles at night sometimes. I don't drink soft drink as a rule. It's funny, we never had it growing up so I just don't have it here either. I probably need to drink more milk, will get a smoothie sometimes..love the Boost ones!
I did Combat this morning. Miss Tess did really well for her first time in Gym Creche
I went really hard...got better at the moves this time round. It was not the normal instructor as the one who usually takes it now has another job on Wednesday Mornings and wont be able to take it so this girl came out of Combat retirement to take the class..not sure if it will continue on a Wed morn, she said Combat instructors were really hard to find.
On Sunday I did the Attack class and then on Monday a 2km walk (pushing Tess and Ben in the pram)...Ben is 16kg so I felt like I walked a alot further
So that's probably all for this week until Attack again on Sunday.
I am finding I am getting back into the swing of it and really loving it. I don't need to lose weight, just need to tone up a bit and find excersise is great for the mind, helps me sleep better at night too.
Happy workouts everyone![]()
Winter - actually BellyBelly is an elaborate figment of your imagination. You must be VERY creative to construe such an elaborate imaginary network of friends!Good luck with Double Combat tomorrow!!!!
Heather, well done on your efforts!!!!!
As for me, tonight is a rest night (not planned - I'd normally be on my treadmill) but with my knee diagnosis, I figure I need to head my own advice to Lisa and rest the injury so I can get back into it quicker.
I have been reflecting on what my physio said to me today (about being able to trial running) and have realised how SCARED I am about it. I am PETRIFIED. I simply don't trust my body after all these injures I've sustained and I am not prepaed to go back to where I was with my back. I'm hoping my PT can provide me with the encouragement and motivation I need to overcome this!
thanks girls for understanding my lack of personals! :-) this thread does seem to move pretty quickly. i used to keep up in the TTC threads but since having bubba 2 it is increasingly difficult to keep up! LOL
winter- i know that feeling, it seems some weeks (or couple of weeks) there seems to be something in the way of getting to the gym.. kids being sick, you being sick, tired, got an appoinment of some kind, parnter not home from work early enough to look after kids etc. just keep at it, you will get back into it.
leesa, and CQ - i dont think i thanked you guys for your advice in regards to lunges before. so thanks. i love having ppl in here to ask those qns too. i never speak to the instructor in real life, i just feel a bit wierd about it. and then also, i am afraid that they will know my name then and use it during a class.. i hate being the centre of attention. (is that silly)
Mother Goose, what injuries do you have? that must be so frustrating, wanting to exercise and get moving and not being able to do it fully.
Junglemum- fat burner class sounds good! i am getting sick of my gym, their timetable isnt very accomodating. there are only 2 step classes per week. one attack, and a few pumps. mostly on during the day. and only yoga on the weekend. ARGH!
to everyone else, keep moving~! :-)
hopefully i am going to do attack tomorrow night.. first time since pre DD2.. i am going to be absolutely buggered. i dont think i can get through it.
He he MG - I only walked today, albeit for 1.5 hrs, uphill / downhill and gradual hills....and then stretching my hurting sacroilliac joint - thats kinda resting, isn't it?.
Hun, you can reclaim your body and free it from injury. It will take time and effort - but that makes the reward so much more tastier. I totally understand the apprehension of re-injury, but you know what, to me, life is about giving it a good shake around the neck - and hey, if you fall down, you get back up, dust yourself off and get back on it again. Aim for the moon, if you miss at least you'll reach the stars.
Imagine NOT exercising and working towards getting injury free, imagine gaining extra weight, imagine how much harder it would be to live each day, where picking up your own DD is a challenge, not to mention how much more damage you could do to your existing injuries by putting on extra weight on it.
Winter - I think its great that you check in with us daily, it brightens my day to see the thread update each morning - that someone has gotten out there and gotten active! Well done you. Lol, I'm on FB too if you need reassurance I'm not some robot on the end of the computer
.
Heather - great work - sounds like you are turning into a les mills junkie too!!.
Leesa - compared to what you normally do? Yeah, I'd consider that resting
I totally get what you're saying about the injuries... but my injury actually prevented me from working and caring for DD properly. I CAN'T go back to that. It would kill me! So I need to be smart with my exercises. Loads of rehab, clinical pilates, obey the rules... and take it one step at a time. Small steps to reach the moon... and apparently enjoy the journey along the wayI'm just a little more tentative than I'd like and normally am. I used to go gunho but now I'm more reluctant and cautious. I very nearly ended up in surgery before Christmas so have to take it easy... which is sooooo not my style!
Hollo - of course you can get through it!!!! Can't wait to hear about your class after it's been and gone!!!!!!!!! My injuries? Where do I start?I have numerous old injuries from my dancing days and also from... adventures lol. But about 6 months ago I slipped 2 discs (L4/L5 and L5/S1) also compressing on nerves. OUCH. It really impacted on my life and I nearly ended up in surgery. I've persevered with rehab and clinical pilates which has been my saviour (apparently). And now my knee has gone. It will be ok though. I also did my shoulder around 8 months ago. They were pretty worried about that because I lost all movement in the arm at one point. Lucky me. It's now better... again through rehab and my trainer making me tow the line (he's been known to confiscate my power supply to my treadmill at home so I CAN'T rain!!!!!!)
Enough waffle.... Keep up the good work ladies!
Sorry MG - I'm trying to find the keys to help give you some confidence. I'll think of another tactic
.
sorry Lisa, I re-read that and though - geez I sound like a cow! I was rolling my eyes because that's what D always tells me (enjoy the journey) and he drives me mental. And I forgot my pre-warning... I have bad attitude at the momentSorry, I really appreciate your suggestions... I just have bad attitude at the moment (poor D spent the whole session Tues hearing "I'm not doing that" "Forget it buddy" "Ahhhh I don't think so"). D keeps telling me I just have to learn to trust my body again... to trust that he is not going to let me doing something that will hurt me. He spends loads of time researching my injuries and hypermobility so we ARE safe. But it's hard to trust my body when it gives out at the drop of a hat. But we WILL get there... eventually.
What's everyone planning today? I'm going to play it by ear as to whether or not I can get on my treadmill - DD has been up all night with a fever of 39.1 and is very clingy (and I'm very tired!). If all goes well I should get on this evening... otherwise another day of nothing for me![]()
Hey guys!
MG...have you thought about a discectomy? Would that help? I know it's surgery but could that end your back pain? Maybe by removing it instead of managing it? I think you're incredibly brave to be pushing through the way you are and I know what it's like to not trust your body when you KNOW it i sable to do something you're just so darn scared it's going to hurt or fail...**hugs**
Winter - Combat/Pump goes really well together and you'll be surprised how easily you'll get through it - esp if Combat is first!
Miss Heather - I wish you lived closer...I could do with another class loL!
Hollo - have fun in Attack!!! You'll be great, just enjoy it and enjoy the music...sing a long - that works for me! I don't feel anywhere near as much pain (although i'm sure my class do when i'm singing into the microphone!)
Lees - i'm glad you're taking it easy - you know how hard it is to actually stop if you're forced to - better to do it on your own terms than on an injuries...
Somebody said that there gym only has Yoga on the weekend...I say DO IT! I loe Yoga, it's a great treat for yourself and you work hard too!
As for me, well I have lovleyy BB ladies coming to my house this morning so I will be eating up a storm and then heading into the gym tonight to hit the tready then do Pump.
Final day of Pump trainign on Sunday then my firls class to teach the next day lol! Pressure PMSL
Also promised to do a "hardest tracks ever" Combat class on Monday night (they requested it - nuttters) so I have to figure out what i'm going to do!
Go go go everybody...Keep it real, and STAY WITH THE FIGHT!
wont be doing attack tonight now.. my partner is gonna be working late. and its the only time they do it each week! oh well, next week.
it was me with the yoga thing.. i used to do it when i was pregnant.. i dunnoo. the relaxation bit at the end was great but didnt really feel any benefit from the rest.
have fun with your bb meet up CQ
Enjoy your morning tea CQ!!!!! Let us know how your first class goes!!!!!!
Hollo - Can you do something else instead of the combat class? Maybe a walk with the pram?
I have considered disectomy CQ - I was referred to a neuro surgeon and an orthopedic back surgeon before Christmas... but I know the failure and complication rates for that surgery and won't go down that path unless it is a last resort. I'm lucky that my rehab and clinical pilates have helped so I am much better than I was. I got the all clear to trial running again this week (after knee is better!). For me it is just a slow and long road to recovery... which I guess I can handle so long as I keep moving forward! I just need to get out of my funk and lose the bad attitude.
Well, I def won't be doing anything today... DD now has temp 39.9 and DH is working late. DD needs her Mama who has been giving her tepid washes to help break the fever. Poor kid. We're both exhausted!
