AFM - i had my first appointment at the multiple pregnancy clinic at the RWH on Friday - it went really well they were so nice. It was pretty much a history taking appointment but she also gave me lots of information. I will be seen and scaned every 3 weeks from now - so close monitoring for me! I feel like i'm in the best place particuly if something goes wrong. I then saw the nutritionist which was good. So waiting for my 12 week NT scan Tues morning i can't wait! I'm officially 12weeks and 3 days yay i made it!!! Feeling much better after a week off work i have taken mon and tues night shift sick leave which means i'm not back til sat so another week off for me - i feel like i really needed it.
I can't wait to find out what we are having so i can start buying!! We got a quote for our cots and prams etc etc which was great to get things started.
I have started de-cluttering our house over the past few weeks and have done so many trips to the salvo's!! I can't believe how much stuff we have he he!
Anyway laundry calls - hello to everyone hope everyone is looking after their precious gifts!
Hi Bella, I have read and read alot of about amnio they pretty much say the same thing I have also looked at a couple of forums with twin mummies that went down and amnio track and some that didn't which was great to read. I had a big chat to DH and made him read the info OB gave us so that he understands why I am bit apprehensive about doing it and he understood. So we have decided to do it we made the appt on Wednesday at 1pm I will let you know how it goes in a couple of days.
How excititng your 12 weeks thats great bella its so exciting to see them again bouncing up and down that is when you realise that there is 2 little babies growing inside they are not just little blobs anymore hehehe let us know how you go. It get to hear you are resting a bit more you should have abit more energy now your in the second tri but still take it easy
Hi Azz - best of luck for tom. Take care and i'll be praying hard!
Hello to all the other lovely ladies!
I went for my NT scan today - it was great to see them both so much more developed and moving about. The sonographer said all the measurements were "perfect" so asuming that means great news will have to wait for formal results in 24 hours.
Azz all the best for tomorrow hunny, I'll be thinking of you babe. I have an Obst appnt at the hospital tomorrow too. I think they do a swab to test for some sort of bacteria at my stage 32-33 weeks and if it's detected they give antibiotics. Then another scan on friday, and a tens class, I would really like to give them a go, before going down the drug route if both are head down.
I've had some false alarms with Braxton Hicks, I really thought that friday morning about 1.30am I was going to be giving birth!!! But after 5 minutes the contractions stopped, but I've been getting a dull ache in my lower back, like a drawing feeling, so I don't think it's gonna be too much longer now.
Bella that is fantastic news babe I'm really pleased for you, I remember being so excited at that stage. Will you be finding out the sex's? Do you know if they are identical? Let the nesting begin!!! lol
By the way thanks to Smithy for posting up Mons announcement!
OMG Kezza its so close braxton hicks can be uncomfortable but shouldn't be painful let me know how the tens class goes. Are you ready if they come now. hopefully everthing goes well with your test. I am so thinking about you.
Bella thats fantastic perfect little bubs.
Yesterday went well it was painless the only thing was me freaking out but I didn't feel a thing haven't had anypain or craming which are common complaints they said also the small twin is now the same age as my due date does that makes sence and the messurements are normal its just the big 1 its a week a head. Just resting at the moment DH has been great I wasn't allowed to leave the couch yesterday when I got home he gave DD her bath and cooked our tea. We should get our some of our results in 48 hrs which are the main ones and the rest in 2 to 3 weeks so I will keep you posted. Oh I have been feeling them kicking and moving around I forgot what it felt like
wow! last time I popped into the twins forum, things were moving pretty slowly. It's so busy in here now!!
Congratulations - lots of new twins on the way, I see. Don't let any of the scary stories get to you - twins are fabulous! Lots of hard work of course - but well worth it. I always say having twins makes me feel sorry for all the babies who AREN'T twins and don't have a little friend to play with all the time. My girls have just turned 1 and they play and chatter together all day which is so cute (of course, they also fight and bite each other when competing for my attention - not so cute!).
Just thought I would add my 2 cents on the feeding pillows - I really recommend trying out a pregnancy body pillow as your breastfeeding pillow before buying an expensive feeding pillow. I bought the inflatable ez2nurse and hated it - used it once and ended up giving it to a friend. I used my pregnancy body pillow and just wrapped it around me. Much cheaper than a feeding pillow and just as good!
Also, be careful with expressing all the time and following strict routines like contented house with twins whilst breastfeeding. You'll find those kind of strict routines are not really recommended by Australian breastfeeding association in the early days as they interfere with building up sufficient milk supply. Plus, if you're expressing a lot unnecessarily, you may be causing yourself breastfeeding problems with overactive milk letdown that babies can't handle or mastitis because you're producing too much milk.
I am still breastfeeding my girls and can honestly say I haven't used my breast pump ONCE since they were born. Some people who experience problems will find pumping is a good tool but for others it isn't necessary. So just be wary of those strict routines...
ooh - and even if you have TWO placentas, your babies could still be identical. about 20% of Di/di twins are actually identical (mine were - we have the DNA test to prove it!)
sorry to slam my advice here and run but one of my twins is waking up and needs a cuddle so I have to go.
Good luck to all of you. Being a mummy to twins is awesome!!
