    Hi girls,
I had a dream night as well. Ashlyn went to sleep at about 6pm didnt wake until midnight (6hours), fed on and off until about 1:15, then she slept until 6:15am! I got up in a daze and came out to the lounge room to feed and turned the tv on and saw it was 6:15am- I was shocked!!!! She then slept again until 9am and is asleep again now.
I was worried that itmigth be to long between feeds but the MCHN said I dont need to wake her as she is having no problems stacking on the weight.
I really wanted to take the dogs for a walk today with DP and DD but its rainign. I feel so neglectful to them..

Meggie- for your awesome sleep last night as well. I feel the same as you though about feeling guilty if I sleep when DD does. There is too much to do and BB to come on!! If I continue to have nights like last night than I will be fine....inot that I am getting my hopes up. At least 4 weeks isnt far away and the days seem to be flying past.
Nai- I dont blame you for having a meltdown. That would have ben so hard with both girls and to be told they didnt even have the stuff you needed would have really got to me as well.
Jols- Hope you are having fun at the concert!
Kaz- Does the fluid hurt? I am sure you are just desperate for answers. Sounds like Mr J is a cruisy baby just like his mum.
Shell- I hop eyou get some rest this weekend with DP at home
Det- You are superwoman! I think you should write a book about how you got 6yr old twins and a newborn to sleep all before 11pm! Levi sounds so chilled out and relaxed! That is great! Have the twins wanted you to bring him in for show and tell yet?
Holly- Hope you can get sme answers from the pharmacist. I wish I had some advice for you but I am just winging it at the moment. One thing...does he only get the stuffy nose after he feeds? and then does it go away? DD was getting that and the MCHN said its quite normal for a newborn and it doesnt mean she has a cold or is sick.
Laura- Things with DP are getting much better, I think he is really understanding how much hard work it is esp with him not at home very much. He told me waht a great job I am doing being a mum the other day and sometimes I think just being told that can make the biggest difference. I would love to read your birth story. I found it so theraputic to type it all up. I am going to print it off and put it in Ash's keep sake box.
Heaven- thinking of you and hoping things are getting better with the feeding
Tarkine- How did Alexander sleep last night? Hope you had a good night.
    to anyone I have missed.

    Hello everyone!!
I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, lol. Just had my Nan visiting. She was so great! She did everything, washing, ironing, cooking, cleaning. It was heaven. She just left and I don't know how I'm going to cope without her!! DH goes back to work on Monday, I'm so scared!! Any tips. I don't know how I'm going to have a shower in the mornings, lol, she's always wide awake and wanting to feed heaps!!

ATM still expressing on the left side until this stupid crack heals. It's going good, hopefully not too much longer and I can put her on there again. Meanwhile the right boob has gone crazy from all the extra attention and is HUGE!! lol.

Going to go read back over the thread now and see what's been happening!

    Hey girls,

Odette - look after yourself hun. That migraine sounded evil.
Laura - I'll be off to find your birth story when I get a chance. In regards to feeding, only you can decide what is right for you and Logan.
Holly - No idea about the phlegm sorry - I do hope you get it worked out. It sounds scary!
Shell - They did an ultrasound on the fluid before I left hossy so they know what it looks like on the inside and still no one has any idea. It should indicate infection but there are no other signs of infection and my wound is really good/clean. Waiting on a full blood test to see if that adds any information and my doc is going to consult with an experienced ob at a major city hospital. Bugger about the vomit mate!
Meg - for 4 hours straight sleep plus the other shorter bursts you got. Mr. J has slept for longer periods (4-5 hours) 3 nights straight now so it might be repeated for a little while.
Ali - for your big sleep too darl! That's great that your DP is realising what a lot of work it is.
Heaven - Hi! Have been thinking of you. I guess you just shower when you can? Maybe at night time? I am still getting mid morning showers because DP is still home from work but will be in the same boat when he is back at work.

AFM - my right bb is incredibly sore when Mr. J first latches on. I have to breath through the pain. Lasts a few minutes - the right bb is much more comfortable - a bit sensitive initially then calms right down. The left side calms down eventually. What does a cracked nipple look like? Its not bleeding and I am using that Lansinoh stuff. Do I just keep feeding through the pain with the expectation that my nipple will toughen up eventually? Any ideas or advice much appreciated.

Kaz, can you see a Lactation Consultant?? I think you should see one ASAP!!!! I had sore nipples like that too and thought it might just get better but I was wrong. It shouldn't hurt! That means something is wrong with attachment and you should get it fixed ASAP so you don't end up with a cracked nipple like I did, hurts like hell! It looks like there's kind of a cut in my nipple and when she fed off it it would open up, eww... Mine didn't bleed either but was weeping a bit, gross.

Kaz - DH had a similar thing when he had his hip replacement - he had fluid build up in his foot!

Nai - can you get the dr to ring the emergency before you go, so they get a heads up that you are going to be there? Seems crazy that you have to go to a A&E when it should be done by a Paed or GP?

Alex slept for 3hrs then, we co slept til 3am (and I don't really sleep when we co sleep), up til 5.30am trying to settle him..Got to express some milk which DH is now feeding the booby monster and hoping that he goes to sleep so I can sleep.. really not coping with things at the mo, so won't be around much.. Det - hope ur right that things get easier at 6 weeks

to everyone - sorry for the selfish post

Heaven - I have been waiting on the MCHN from community health to get in contact with me. They seem to be short staffed - I'll be calling them Monday to chase them up because Mr. J will be 2 weeks old on Wed and I want them to check his weight and watch me feed. I've been told that his attachment is "textbook" and he does pull off/back and reattach when it's wrong but I want someone to look at what we're doing on that side. Thanks for sharing your experience though - I definitely won't be leaving it in hopes it improves.
Tarkine - Take care hun. It's so hard when there's no sleep and you feel like you've been hit by a train.

Heaven- So glad your nan has been able to help you out whilst you have been getting your left boobie back into business. I bet she loved helping you out. I have been by myself for the last 4 days (it seems like so much longer than that)! My parents went home to Qld and DP is back working 2 jobs so I would be without him from about 8:30am until midnight. I dont know how I but I just have managed. I do get quite teary at night time only because I miss DP and wish that he was here to bond with his baby girl and instead he is off earning money for us, but when he comes home we have the nicest cuddles and we have the weekends. One thing my mum said to me before she left was just to try and do one job each day. I have managed to do washing, ironing, sweeping, shower, etc (I even manage a bath in the evenings). The most important thing is not to stress if you dot get anything done. I do feel really proud of myslef at the end of each day if I ahve done something as well as looked after my baby girl. Do you have any friends that can come round and visit you in the day? It is nice just to have someone drop by for half an hour and for them to make you a cup of tea if you are struggling.

Kaz- I had a cracked nipple at hospital (it astounded me beacause each time they were latching DD on to me and since I have been doing it myslef, all has been fine). I did find that to heal it I just expressed a little milk and let them air dry as much as posible, at night time, i dont even wear a top. I do have some of that lanisoh cream but havent used it as the expressing milk on the nipples is working a treat.

Tarkine- Massive hugs to you hun. Please come in here when you can if you need some advice I am sure there are plenty of girls in here who can help. Keep telling yourslef that you are doing the best you can and that this is a massive learning curve for you and Alexander both and you will both get there.

Laura- I want to see more photos!!!!!!

Em has been sleeping heaps today, Df prolly will be thinking I'm a liar when I say she hardly sleeps and is hard to settle.

Tarkine- Do you have family close by that can help you out? Sounds like you are having a rough time. Anyone that could come over and help you around the house or even just cuddle bubs when he is unsettled so you can rest?

Kaz- Is the pain just right at the start? I found for awhile I'd get horrible pain until the let down happened and then it was ok, have read that that was normal but if the pain lasted longer to look into attachment issues.

Heaven- You'll cope better than you expect once your DH is back at work, wait til bubs is asleep to shower or even when DH gets home jump in then, I ogten now shower of a night instead.

I heard beer is good for milk supply or could've been some certain one.

Df has gone on his night out but was good and waited til Ash went to bed, now just to sort out miss E, she screams everytime the dummy drops out of her mouth. Too bad can't tie it in there!

Ali- Ooh where you off to tonight?

Ali, I can't believe how long your DP's work hours are. That must be so hard on all of you I find it hard enough with my DP's working hours. He works 3:30am-12pm and goes to bed at 7pm but at least he is around for the afternoon, although very tired! Hope you're having a good night out tonight!

Heaven, I wait til DP is home to have a shower! Good work on the feeding - you are doing exactly what I was doing a week ago. I have cracks on both nipples (heaps better now) but the right one was the worst so I expressed that side for about a week and didn't put DS on it at all, I just wanted it to heal. He just fed off the left and as you can imagine, my left boob was so much bigger! He is finally feeding well on both sides without pain apart from first latching on. I've suffered with cracks & bleeding due to poor attachment, engorgement that led to mastitis, nipple thrush and just good old nipple sensitivity (it doesn't help that DS has such a strong suck). I've cried so much in the last 3 weeks in pain, frustration & sheer desperation coz all I wanted to do was feed my baby and it was just so difficult! I'd also get so frustrated at him coz he'd be screaming and so desperate to feed and his arms would be going everywhere like he's swimming a freestyle marathon and his head turning madly trying to find the nipple all while I was trying to get him attached. I still sleep topless coz my nipples are so sensitive! Just keep doing what you're doing!!

Kaz, definitely get someone to check your attachment. I had terrible pain like you described and also ended up with cracked nipples.

Tarkine, hope things get better soon and you're able to get some decent sleep

AJP, glad the concert went well! What's wrong with your bb's??

Shell, hope all that sleeping today doesn't mead a restless night tonight.

Hi to everyone else. Man this post has taken me ages between eating dinner and feeding DS ( still feeding & typing one-handed!)

DS seems to really like one room in the house. When he's in there he's just quiet and wide-eyed looking around - so peaceful! Anyone else noticed similar in their bubs?

Wow - I go out for the day and there's so much to catch up on!!

    Have fun tonight Ali!

Holly, J loves the light in our loungeroom and just lies back watching it all wide-eyed

Shell, yep I swear by beer - stout is the one to drink to bring your milk in (it's worked for me twice). Normal beer seems to increase your supply too. What side of town are you on? I might look at other GPs to take J to for the granuloma.

Laura, Bella is a real cutie!

Jols, the playschool concert sounds great. I will have to get DD1 to one at some stage - she loves Playchool.

Tarkine, I hope you get some rest hun. It's so much harder to deal with things when you are sleep deprived. With DP feeding DS hopefully you can have a break.

Kaz, I hope you get some answers on your fluid. I would also call the ABA or a lactation consultant. If it hurts you need to get it sorted out before it becomes a problem.

Today we took DD1 to her swimming lesson and I was SO impressed. In the last few weeks she has really progressed. Then we went to a friends house for lunch and ended up being there for 5 hours! Both the girls were really good although J was feeding every couple of hours and only catnapped.
