Dee - happy 8 mths to Lachlan. Sounds like he is scooting around everywhere and very clever sitting up in his cot. Its great that you are making your own invites, I think they look so much better and have a more personal touch. The stuff they sell in the shops to do them is fantastic, it will be hard choosing what to use!

Ali - I feel for you! It is a horrible decision to make about returning to work and childcare. I put it off and off until finally I had to go back when Chelsea was 15 mths old. It was hard and she was very unhappy the first few times in childcare, but she has now been there for nearly 3 years and she loves it. So try not to worry, you are not doing her a diservice by putting her in childcare, she will greatly benefit from the interaction with the other kids. I do totally understand where you are coming from though. Keep peeking around that corner for the perfect job!

Neeny - b'fast sounds so yummy. We were going to go out for b'fast today but had a tradesman come instead plastering our laundry - how romantic!!!!! Have fun spending your voucher. You will love having a split system, they are the best! Looking forward to McLeods too tonight.

My day has been busy. Had the plasterer arrive at 8am (I had forgotten he was coming!) and Chelsea came into our room and said 'someone is at the door'! Oops! He was here for most of the day. Took Marley to her specialist appointment and had her skin ***** testing done. She is allegic to egg white and cows milk protein. Her reaction to the egg was pretty strong with a score of 5, the cows milk one only very mild at 1. She is not allowed to have any dairy until 12mths after she has a follow up skin test. He thinks she will grow out of both allergies, which was good to hear. I have pages and pages of stuff to read up on and what I can and can't give her. Her diet will be pretty basic for a little while but at least I know what is going on. Her eczema will now be managed with a different cream which he believes will clear it up completely. Then we will have a maintenance regime to follow if any flare ups occur. He is very confident, her skin will be almost perfect in the coming weeks. He was an excellent paed and I was there nearly 2 hours! Marley was so good through out the ***** test which they do on their backs, she never flinched or cried once when they *****ed her - my very brave little bubba! They weighed her, measured her and she is a very healthy baby. I am just so relieved to find out what was going on and now have a plan to follow. Good news all round.

Happy Valentines to everyone, hope your loved ones do something extra special for you today!

Howdy all, another quick one from me cause I am working this afternoon, then have a council meeting that will go til 7.30pm and am then working again tomorrow morning.

Flynn has settled well-enough into his room and isn't waking any more than usual (like last night - it was going well when he woke at 12.30 and 3.30 for feeds, but then all when to ***** when he woke at 5.30 and wouldn't go back to sleep!) But DH saved the day and took him when he woke up and I got some uninterrupted sleep between 7.30 and 8.45am.

Ali I really feel for you with the daycare thing - I had a call from a centre the other day offering 2 days per week for Flynn but at this stage we are hoping DH and i can juggle our workloads without it. And Neeny I don't know how you have manged to work and dot he daycare thing - I am lucky in that I can leave Flynn at home so there is less to organise, but I still find it a pain expressing enough milk, getting his food organised and stuff.

Mel do allergies run in your family? I seem to remember not - it must be such an adjustment for you to get used to it. Flynn isn't allergic to anything (yet!) but we have family members who can't eat all sorts of stuff (including tomatoes!) so I know how much of a disruption it will be for you. Kids often grow out of egg allergies, though

Was gonna do more personals but I gotta go shopping before I head off to work - there's no food in the house!!

Mel I'm so glad things are looking up,with Marley skin. My cousin was allergic to dairy and grew out of it by about 5 or 6. The egg white will make it abit hard for you, but they have those egg substitutes. Good to here your reno is going great.

Neeny that sounds great tuesdays and Wednesdays are good for me, prefer a Wednesday, but I'm pretty flexible, I don't mind where we go nothing is to far with the motorway, lol. What about you Amanda??

Ali I feel for you too at the moment. I know that feeling of being torn. Find a day care that has a good feel and an open policy, which I think they all do these days. She'll love it particularly going so young, she'll just think this is what we do and go with the flow. Lol what I hate is you can drop them off, and the tears flow, don't go Mummy, and you tear yourself away and when you come back the tears flow cause they don't want to go, lol. Kids are so fickle, lol.
Anyway I just have to keep clinging on to the hope that everything does happen for a reason and that right thing is just hiding from me round the corner. It's a good mantra to have Ali.
Donna, oohhh he'll be walking before you know it. He might be in training so he can walk down the aisle with his mummy, lol. We made our own invites for our wedding, I think they are more personal and way cheaper. Nathan who still isn't crawling properly, (very good comando though) is trying to pull himself up on things. He scoots around everywhere in his walker.
Oh Rory I could kill for a good massage, lol.

Well yesterday I had a knock on the door and being that I was half naked I peared out through the blind to see a Courier van in my driveway, I called out for thenm to hang on , getting all excited, Thinking ohhhh Michael you shouldn't have.....and he hadn't, it wasn't flowers it was my Library books I had ordered online, lol. Had to laugh, we really don't go in for Valentines. So I didn't really expect anything anyway. Went shopping yesterday eveningat about 6pm and was home at around 7 pm anyway, popped the garage and the kids helped me bring the bags in and I picked up the phone to call DH and there was a message on there from a flower shop saying they came by and left flowers at my front door. I was very suprised, it was great. The card read "There's a first time for everything. Ooooohhhh my baby loves me, lol. Well better get these girls to school
    Bye

Mel- I am happy to hear yoou have found out what Marley is allergic too, it will be an adjustment with her diet but i think once you get in the habit it will be like second nature. well hoping it is anyway. Excellent regarding that cream to clear up the Eczema! wow, what is the cream? out of all the yrs i had eczema (not bad but still irritating) i never found a cream that made it dissapear completley, only help stop the itch or stop it from getting worse.

i caught nixon commando crawling yesterday and doing push ups with his bum in the air! think we will need to go buy some gates for our stairs very soon. DH is no handy man so aking them is out of the question!

Rory- you sounds like a very busy woman atm. glad you got some sleep thismorning though, dh never gets up to Nixon, not last night the night b4 i was up many times, not sure why he just kept waking up crying. But i suppose i am not working so i can still get sleep though the day (not that i remember the last time that happened)
I hope things start looking up for you Rory your a lovely person and a great mummy, you were always the one that cheered everyone up, showed us the lighter side of things now its our turn to repay the favour to you. If at any time you ever need anything please dont hesitate to call me.

Hello everyone, hope you have a good day.

Morning girls - thanks for all your kind words of support. I will just have to make sure I cook and prepare all of Marleys food, the paed said it was much easier that way, then you know exactly what is in there and just stick to good old fruit/veg/meat/fish. Many of things that contain egg and milk protein are things I wouldn't generally give her yet. She had rice last night and she loved that and I can give her porridge for breakfast with formula milk. Will have to start giving her more meat, she has had chicken and she didn't screw up her face too bad!

Rory - no allergy history in either family! Paed said it is very rare to have a baby allergic when there is no history - my baby is weird LOL!!!! Its good that Flynn doesn't have any obvious ones yet. You are right though that egg/milk allergies are the ones that children most commonly grow out of. Fingers crossed! You are such a busy women, glad you got a little bit of extra sleep this morning, sounds like you need it. How did back massage go, any improvement?

7th - what a lovely, sweet DH you have! That is such a nice thing to do. Its good that the kids see what a great dad they have. I like that there is always a first!

Nic - cream is called Elidel. It is not a cortisone, but paed said that cortisone is very safe if used in the prescribed way. He gets very angry how people get scared to use it when it is actually extremely helpful. I was very happy to hear that! I have a new cortisone to use initially called Elicon which gets applied once a day before bed. This should clear it all up in a few days, then I use the Elidel if any little breakouts occur. I can also use Zyrtec for her itching. So I have all bases covered. Will have to make sure I pack my medicine cabinet when we go away! Way to go Nixon on commando crawling!!!!! The bum in the air must look very cute! My DH isn't very handy either, think Tim the Toolman Taylor! Hot weather is starting to be a bit annoying!!! This weekend is going to be a scorcher!

Off to get my hair done this afternoon - I can't wait. My 3 hours of bliss, reading all the bad trash mags, upteen cups of coffee and some chocolates!!!! Thankfully DH is home so he can watch Marley. Chelsea is at kinder!

    Enjoy your day!

Good morning girls... Thanks for your well wishes and acknowledgment of Niall's 8 month milestone I am however having a bit of a rest from BB like I said in my last post. Yesterday i really enjoyed doing needlework instead (both boys had a nap! and I guess that after spending all morning chatting to other local mums at Wade's music group I feel I've had a good ammount of adult conversation today. I'm meeting so many families now that Wade has started Kinder, it's great. I've only skimmed through the posts since I was last online but I also just wanted to say; Neeny: I agree that most women can be two faced. However when women choose to speak in a two faced manner in public or in public forums it says more about them than the person they are putting down IMO. It's not only impolite it displays a lack of social ability. When I see/hear friends of mine behave this way I cringe and I make a mental note to say something to them afterwards or to never share information of a personal nature with them ever again. Often "getting something off your chest" has further consequences than people realise and when thoughts of a two-faced nature are shared publicly you never know where it will end up. Most importantly I think it's very unwise to make assumptions about a person unless you have at least met them in person. Please don't read this as a direct attack, these are comments of a general nature, to all the Junies. I want ALL of us to see the good aspects of each other because whether we personally like someone or not doesn't mean that that person might not have something to offer. It would be a boring world if we all acted the same. If somebody upsets you, then by all means have PERSONAL one-to-one conversations with them or another member you have grown close to. Just don't bring it into the public arena and please avoid public attacks in here or any forum that involves members whom we all know. I understand that you felt frustrated with us Jess but harsh words are hard to retract and also have ongoing consequences. I want to continue getting to know all of you and learning to appreciate the good aspects of all your characters and tolerating the aspects I struggle with. So please ladies, read the BB guidelines and don't post in anger and don't do yourselves diservices by using other forums to vent about members in here... word is getting around and it's making it uncomfortable for everyone.

Sorry Mel... posted at the same time

7th - Im so jealous of your DH, thats a lovely thing to do, i got nothing but we dont normally do anything for Valentines anyway. But a nice suprise would have been good!!

Mel - Like Nickers said, once you are concious of what Marley can and cant eat, it will be like second nature for you to make it. I make all of Lachlans food and its really not that hard. Just make up bulk and freeze. At least you know what the allergy is now and you can fix it. Lachlan has started breaking out in eczema again too.
    Enjoy getting your hair done!!

Bath - i agree with what you are saying, i think if someone has a problem with someone then it should be taken up with THAT person only. There is nothing worse than hearing someone talk badly about someone else, why not just say it to them! Anyway, i hope your break from BB isnt too long!!

Well, not much happening with me here, im having yet another lazy day today, im going to head in and do the grocery shopping when DF gets home. Its just too much effort to take lachlan especially since he cant quite sit properly in the shopping trolley yet. I would prefer to do it on my own anyway!

hey everyone - well it certainly has been a while since I've been around the net and a lot has certainly happened but just wanted to say hi and how great it is to see how grown up all our little ones are getting.

Probably won't be getting too involved in day to day discussions since I've made such an effort in focussing on other things in my life and given I don't have regular access to a computer anymore. I do miss the daily interaction though and the regular anicdotes about our little ones.

Big congrats to you Nic!!!! any preference for pink or blue this time round??? hope everything goes well for you this time round and #2 isn't quite as anxious to enter the world as Nixon was.

Dee - good luck with the wedding plans. I keep hoping for the Valentines day surprise too - but know its never going to happen - then again I haven't surprised him either so it would be hypocritical of me to expect otherwise.

Bath - hope your feeling a bit brighter about things and enjoying all the RL interaction that your childrens activities are bringing you. I'm making attempts to do similar by ensuring DS#1 involvment in activities which for me the homebody is a big step but with the constant moving we do it gets harder cause just as you start to get organised and out there - its time to move on. How are you finding it knowing that Nialls your last child?? Do you feel complete/"finished" so to speak?? Just asking cause DH acts as though he really doesn't want anymore and I'm not so sure.

Mel - as a young child I had the allergy tests for everything known to man and came up allergic to most, including dairy, egg whites and yolks, animal hair etc, vitamin c products. I am now able to and once medical condition under control was able to eat anything and basically have grown out of any reactions although I do know what combinations of factors will spark a reaction and thus avoid them when possible eg if have cold avoid milok as it makes it worse. Don't mix vitamin c products with eggs as makes me sick as can be eg no orange juice with a hot breakfast of eggs etc. Sounds like you have a lateral thinking paed though to see you through the bumpy times.

To everyone else - hi great to read your updates

As for us - we had the big trip o/s and it went pretty well. After DS#1 being such an easy baby I'm finding Samuel a bit of a struggle every now and then but hey every childs different so have to work with it.

Anyway will try and drop in next time I have access and read the latest stories - maybe Rory will be expecting again by then or someone else??

Ali – so sorry about the job, but I agree, things happen for a reason, there will be an even better job out there for you. I know how hard it must have been for you to leave Tori, they say it gets easier, but I know it must be breaking your heart…
Dee - I’m so excited about your wedding…
Mel – yeah, about your hair, a good hair day makes you feel great… I think that is the same cream my Dad uses for his skin? I will have to ask him, but he said it was AMAZING… First time in 8 years his skin has felt normal.

Baths – no worries honey, I’m on here half as much as I used to be as well, now that Ally is active I’m also actively looking after her – you must be three times as busy. Hope you can pop in and let us know how you are going on occasion.

US: not much to report, just loving being a Mum and having so much fun with Ally. She is just the best and I am loving doing things with her everyday.. Obviously she is sleeping through the nights now – amazing how much a good nights sleep impacts your mood!

Wow, Bath, there are some revelations there that put a different light on what's been going on lately!
Oh, and I think 'hot topics' in our thread have become so because some members, no matter how a post is composed/explained/intended, will be bent on perceiving some posts as a personal critique on themselves. I think a bit of responsibility for your own feelings and perceptions needs to be taken, especially when someone has been civil, explained themselves and been good-natured in intent. That's what needs to be taken care with, and I know that goes for the whole BB website. Kelly and the mods have worked too hard to have threads go to pieces because of scapegoating. I want to recommend BB to my friends who parent, or who wish to parent the way I do, and it's becoming embarrassing lately!
Jaspen - it's great to read from you! So glad the OS trip went well - where did you go? I need a refresher, here!
Ooooh, Mel - hope you're hair appointment was slothful! Reminds me, should get my hair cut soon...
Rory, yay for the sleep in! I had the curtains whipped open on me this morning...admittedly, it was about 10am :P
I scored some cheap terry flats from a friend and I couldn't be happier - they're drying on the line, almost ready to go operational. Now I just need some more nappy covers in bigger sizes for this boylet.
Speaking of whom, he is currently playing with a disco ball of mine that's on a chain, that he recovered from the back room...it seems kid proof enough so far...
Back to this boy, reading text books and tidying this place. Got mummies group dinner tonight and tomorrow we'll head to the pool to practice the cool stuff we learned on Saturday.
Back to the kidlet, hi to everyone else
Cee Cee - almost missed your post, who knew babies were this funny???

Ceecee- is is amazong how a good night sleep impacts on you isnt it! Glad Ally is sleeping through for you.

Jaspen_ Hello stranger! i was thinking about u the other day because Samuel was 8months old wasnt he? From memory you were going to Singapore??? anyway tell us how your trip was.
I would love to have a little girl, but obviously a healthy baby is the main aim and seings they are close in age would be just as happy to have a little bro for Nixon to play with!

Dee- ive recently started putting Nixon in the trolly now he can sit, but he has started to grab at everything so i have to make surwe i am not too close to the isle iykwim! yesterday he grabbed a grape, almost an apple and had his arm out in attempt to grab anything else we got too close from!

Hi Bath,IK,Mel,Neeny,Jess,Dee,Amanda,Ali,Kristee,Kare n,Nickel,Rory and anyone else i have forgotten, got to go get Nixon's dinner ready.

Well I'm sorry to say this but I think this form is no longer as supportive as it used to be. My arthritis pain is playing up and I don't want to stir up a hornets nest.

I chat in 2 sites inlcuding this one and I can safely say its getting to the stage where in here - treading on eggshells is unavoidable. I've kept my opinions to myself most of the time but I cant log on, talk about the weather, bore adults (who want to hear about other things as well as babies) about my child and feel supported. Its just not there.

I haven't gossiped about anyone specifically, nor would I waste my time as I have a real life to lead. BTW a friend of mine warned me ages ago that some parenting sites tend to self destruct and sorry to say but since I think I'm the 10th person to leave this forum its getting that way in here.

Dee (7th) contact Amanda as she has my home email account and I'd be happy to meet up.

I wish everyone in here all the best for the future but when it comes to the point that you get upset by reading posts instead of looking forward to them its time to leave!

    God bless you all.

    Morning all,

Dee Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays are good for me, Wednesday is most probably the best tho, cause I'll have money and can organise to have the car, thanks for sending the pics.

Nic thanks also to you for sending me those pics, how has your m/s been going?

Jaspen glad to see you back, how was your holiday?

Well I took Kailen to school this morning and he was saying he was sick but I thought he was just saying it so he didn't have to go to school but lo and behold, I got a call from the school at about 10am and said he had been throwing up, so now I feel bad that I made him go.

All this walking must be doing some good cause finally my tummy is looking a little smaller and my legs are looking nice and toned, it is great. I've only noticed since having Cody in the sling again the amount of looks and people saying "oh isn't he getting to heavy in there", my response is no, actually he only weighs 8.5kg and the sling is well supported so nothing hurts him or me, hmm some people.

Hello to IK, Rory, Donna, Mel, Bath, Jess, Neeny and CC and anyone else I've missed.

OK better go do some more house work.

    hugs xoxo

    Hi all!
I'm doing the 5 min wait for my final hair rinse - straightening my hair again, it's been nearly 6 months since I did it the first time...so I thought I'd check in here. Straightening hair on these hot days must be the daftest thing I've done in the last 48 hours (oh, and I've done some beauties, let me tell you!)...I'm going to the pool later, so won't be able to get my hair wet (packet says to not shampoo or condition, but I don't think chlorine will do my new do much good, either...) and I've got Babyswim tomorrow. Oh, well, just no head dipping unless it's fresh water! By Sunday I'll be able to take a full dip in the local pool...just before heading to a family do for lunch, far, far away from any source of pool cooling on a 38 degree day...
Amanda - good one on the walking and feeling great! I get comments about Oscar in the carrier or sling quite often. I say that the weight is evenly distributed and as he grows I get stronger, which is true. You'll have to send us pics of your new legs!
Mel - are you around, or at your MIL's pool? LOL! Don't come on here and make me jealous that you'll do a night swim tonight...oh, and I did LOL last time when you entertained the thought of you and DH swimming nekked in MIL's pool! How's the cream progressing? I agree, cortisone has its place and the packaging always says to use sparingly...some people really need it spelled out and then yelled out at them!
Mummies Group dinner last night was good, but weird, cos I met up with a good friend who then informed me (when I asked how her parents were) that her father had passed away We have a great friendship where we feel close, but don't feel offended when life gets in the way and we can't keep in regular contact. In fact, most of my friends are like that - don't feel we have to 'take turns' in calling, and get stroppy when months go by and someone's missed their turn. Anyway, it threw me and I'm afraid I might not have been the best company last night. I emailed the girls with a brief explanation and they were totally cool about it, and I guess it's just one of those things. Her father died of cancer, and it just resonates a bit deeply, a year after the loss of FIL. Anyway, there's perspective for you.
Nic - very funny about Nixon grabbing everything at the shops! Oscar doesn't sit yet, and he wriggles too much in the high chair and car seat, let alone asking him to sit still in a shopping trolley, so I stick him in the Ergo on my front for the shopping and twist him round to my back when I get to the checkout so that I can bend and empty the trolley! Often, though, some nice stranger will help me out
Bath - how's Wade's music going? Let us know how he went for Kinder today, too!
Well, I'll probably not be on much over the weekend or today - pool, then study, then over to my mum who's coming for the weekend. We have TWO parties to go to tomorrow, one in Brunswick and one locally...thank goodness I got that aircon installed in the car - sort of can't cancel on an engagement party and 40th for some mere hot weather LOL!
Melb girls, stay cool, everyone else have a great weekend (QLD were meeting up? If so, have fun!).

Hi all - first up thanks so much for your kind words girls It's nice to have you all care! The massage was great - am having a follow up treatment on monday and I am feeling much better now, not the least because I got home from work to find DH bought me a present (and a real one - not the house kind like a new vacuum cleaner or something). It was a lovely bra and kickers set - right size and matching my usual requirements (contrasting trim). Dee (7th H) like you said "There's a first time for everything" And though he is not sleeping well still, Flynn is such a joy and he and DH are getting along famously.

Dee, LOL at " he cant quite sit properly in the shopping trolley yet". Flynn is almost over the weight limit for those baby trolley holders (9kg) and can't sit up at all!! He will be a no-shop boy pretty soon too!

Jaspen it is so good to hear from you - please stay in regular contact, even if its the odd drop in!

Amanda I am gonna try and emulate you and get a flat tummy - if I am gonna join Nickers in the expecting phase I had better get fit soon!!!

Howdy to all others (wave!) Gotta go - just got home from work and have tons of housework to get to!!

Hello everyone, thought I'd pop in and say hi, long time no chat! I haven't been on for ages, my computer was broken for a while and I found how much extra time I had in my day without it, so I've been limiting my usage. Ummm, don't know if I've come back at a bad time? Hope everyone is well, and their babies are gorgeous and thriving! All is good here, Freya is doing really well...sleeping well at night and eating like there's no tomorrow. She has no inclination to get mobile though, happy to just sit and observe. She is ever so clingy, and only has eyes for me, which is flattering, but exhausting!

Will try and pop in again soon, best wishes to you all!

Amanda - poor Kailen. It must be hard to know when they are faking it to get out of school. I did it often enough. Hope its not a bug and he doesn't make the others sick. Well done on trimming down, goes to prove that walking lots does help. It must feel great to see the reward.

IK - didn't go to MIL pool today so won't make you jealous!!!! I had to pick up my new prescription sunnies from Knox, then had a bit of browse and got some toiletries for holiday then realised that DH had to leave for work at 1pm and it was 12.40pm! Had to fly home and let him go to work. Was going to take Chelsea for a swim but Marley wanted a snooze, so I let her play outside in her clam pool. I can't go tonight as I have my monthly Dames Dinner with the GF's - MIL babysitting. How sad about your friends dad. Its always horrible to hear unexpected news like that. Hope you friend is coping OK. My dad is going in for heart surgery and has been on the waiting list for months. They finally give him a date, 1 March, while I am away! It couldn't be timed any worse but he can't so no otherwise he goes back on the list. I will be so stressed on that day and dad is *****ting himself, poor guy is really scared. I have to leave it to my brothers to keep me informed. I am sure everything will be fine, apparently it's a very routine operation. Cream is doing an awesome job - my little possum looks almost normal, no blothes or red marks! You sound like you have a hectic weekend, and in the heat too. Mine is pretty quiet thankfully. Just have to choose paint colours for the girls rooms as they are being painted while we are away. Enjoy all your parties!!

Rory - of course we care, thats the sort of girls we are. So glad to hear you back is getting better. Your DH is such a sweetie, what a beautiful present to buy and the right size too (how good is he!). Thats gotta make you feel better. Quickly do your housework, then sit and relax! Too hot to do much else.

Out for dinner tonight to a place called Gatica in Balaclava. Not sure what type of restaurant it is, but is sure to be a good one. MIL babysitting. Looking forward to catching up with my GF's for our monthly dinner.

Hi to Bath, Nic, CC, 7th, Dee and anyone else I've missed.

Someone has possessed my boy! He went to sleep at 2.45, woke at 4.30 without crying, had some boob juice and went back to sleep. And he had a 40min and a 1 hour sleep this morning as well.

Hope this means he is over he waking all the time state - he has seemed really tired and "wired" IYKWIM when he has woken up during the night......I have heard the more babies sleep, the more babies sleep.......
