Morning everyone, these early starts are killing me! K won't sleep past 6am atm. We had a pretty good night though, he slept from 8pm until 4am, had a feed and slept until 6am.

I took K to our MCHN on Friday to get checked out. He has been pretty miserable and I just don't know what's wrong with him. He's been pretty unhappy for at least 6 weeks now and I've been going nuts. He constantly rubs his right ear and cries and he is really grizzly and clingy. I am struggling to get anything done around the house and only cooked dinner once this week because I am either too exhausted by that time of day or K won't let me put him down. I have taken him to the GP to look in his ear and also one of the chiros had a look (he is a specialist in ear infections) and no one found anything wrong. I've called the MCHN line and was told if he didn't have a high temperature he won't have an infection.

Our MCHN weighed him yesterday and he is still gaining lots of weight, she checked in his mouth and said there is some swelling in his gums, but no teeth are about to appear (she said that at his 4 month check too). She said to take him back to the GP so we took him again yesterday and this GP said he has a fungal infection in his ear. How come no one else saw this??? She prescribed some ear drops and hopefully it will clear up within a week. I am so frustrated that this wasn't picked up earlier! I don't know if this is the reason why he has been so unhappy, but hopefully we will find out soon.

Sorry for the long boring post!

Viv - K hated potato too, but he liked sweet potato and pumpkin. Don't worry, James is a boy, he will develop a love for food sooner or later!

Saffi - Woohoo for L's second tooth!

Mo - How scary for your sister! How is she going?

oh trish, what a fiasco. it's so hard sometimes to unravel these illnesses. hope he's on the mend.

i think we're trying sweet potato round here today. he had a spoon or two a month ago but his reflux was so bad back then i just ended up stained orange with sweet potato vom. smooth. so i suppose we'll try again now.

    Happy 6 months to Max

Trish - how frustrating. Hopefully now he will be on the mend.
Viv - GL with the sweet potato.

DH is adamant that we will introduce solids to L no earlier than 6 months. So only 2 weeks until that point.

Went shoe shopping for L yesterday. Little disappointed in the range for boys when compared to girls. DH wanted some Julius Marlow prewalkers - but they don't make them LOL. They do however come in larger sizes so he will get some and look like his Dad.

Trish can't believe no one picked that up, Hopefully he'll start to feel better soon & go back to being a happy baby for you.

Viv good luck with the sweet tottie, That is one of M's fav foods.

My sister is still in hospital, things have calmed downed she has another ultrasound on Monday to see how things are going, My little Nephew is doing well tho kicking up a storm.
They think she has an infection which is causing all the problems.
    Thanks for asking

Sorry I have been absent, things are mental around here.

Well Amara is 6 months I can't believe it.
Off to the MCHN tomorrow for th eobligatory check up.
Needles on Tuesday, my poor bubba.
    Still one toothy peg.
She ate about 2 tsp of rice with pureed apple tonight. Has not affected the overnight feeding one iota, still a feed around 11pm and then anytime from 3-4am...."sigh"

I read that silly Robyn Barker womans book today when I got it out for Viv, she says that hunger is not a reason for night waking beyond 6 months......said expletive closed book LOL. (Oh and apparently teething has no effect on anything) I will PM you Viv, promise! When we get back from holidays on Vic I will send it!

    Must go to bed,
    Night all.

trish - don't worry about it. i'm glad you closed it, i hope you said 'pffft', too.

so the sweet potato was a moderate success compared to the regular potato. he still held it in his mouth, grimaced and performed. this time he didn't cry. i managed to get 1t to go in and he wore 1t. then over the next 24 hours it has slowly been refluxing out. this morning he's down to yellow vom. sigh sigh sigh.

i'm compiling a list for the doc on monday when i go to get the little dude's needles.

last night was the classic 3-hourly feeding night. eyes on stalks. he also woke in between times for a little cry.

will be nice when the teething thing stops.

i'm going to have to ditch the change table now. it's not something that will be fixed by a strap. he rolls with all his strength and twists backwards like a banana. he wants to touch the bucket, the pockets on the change table, empty the cotton buds etc. yesterday he rolled and leaned over so hard he whacked his head on the shower screen wall. next change... same thing. *eyeroll* no tears the second time but still.

so i've taken to changing him on the ground. how do you control a wiggly worm? it's like a competition to get the nappy on straight. at the moment, giving him the bath thermometer (shaped like a submarine) seems to work to keep him distracted but otherwise... sheesh.

he is such an active 'little boy'. he spent 10 minutes yesterday morning trying to pull off the power point covers again. why are power points magnets for the Y chromosome?

my little monkey is so cute though.
