Don't panicAnd I'm really sorry if I scared you - I didn't mean to!
I was thinking that the reaction you had last time was to a GA and a spinal will probably be quite different. Hopefully you won't have such a bad reaction this time. I'm sure the anaesthetist will help to reassure you on the day. He or she will come and talk to you before you go in to theatre and you can ask as many questions as you need to.
I was allowed a little bit of water in recovery (it was a REALLY little bit) and then I think I was able to eat about 3 hrs after surgery. Basically the midwives wanted me to wait until I wasn't feeling nauseated before I ate so as soon as I was feeling better they brought me a sandwich. I was on oxycodone and tramadol for a day or 2 but that didn't effect what I could eat.
Make sure you keep on top of your fibre intake so you don't get constipated after your c/s. I was taking lactulose and coloxyl (softener) from the day of the surgery to make sure everything flowed nicely
Try not to worry, and remember you will have your beautiful baby in your arms very soon.
