Tania, are you seeing a Lactation Consultant? If you want to continue breastfeeding (or even if you're not sure and just want to keep your options open) and LC can really save you. If you PM Barb she can probably recommend a good one in your area. Or else you can try calling the ABA (1800 686 2 686). They can give you support and advice over the phone, and also may be able to recommend an LC or get you in touch with an ABA counsellor in your area.

You're not wasting your time giving your baby breastmilk, hon. I understand if you feel it's not feasible to continue - that's your choice to make - but it really isn't a waste of time, even if he's only getting a small amount.

On a practical level - how often is he feeding? Did you try taking him off and switching sides over? The more often he empties the breast the more milk you'll make. So, if you give him 20 mins on side 1, then 20 on side 2, then back to 1, your breasts will get more stimulation (compared to just 1 hr on one side) and (in theory, hopefully) you'll make more milk.

All the best, whichever way you decide
