MD, dont believe in that bf cape thing either. The most exposure I had was when I bf on the train. I just fed him in the garden at dh uni yesterday, he was so peaceful and calm .. i think it's the effect from the trees LOL Sorry about your dh, will he be home for xmas though? Arte, can we give bf babies water? Sometimes he is really thirsty when it's hot. My W is the same on standing, but the nosey old lady is not in the bus stop it's in my house ... MIL. Everytime W raises his head up (sort of wanting to sit iykwim) in the car seat, MIL told me to put some pillow behind his head.

Fianne, what a terrific news on the sleep, did they give some useful advice?

We went to dh graduation yesterday. William had a blast, smiling and beaming to everyone. He was so tired last night.

W has some milky tounge and we sometimes clean it to avoid thrush. The other day while I was in the shower, DH tried to clean it. Right after the shower, I found DH and MIL holding a spoonful of honey right in front of W's mouth. Apparently MIL told DH that honey is the magic cure for that. OMG, lucky I came out on time. The nurse and all the books I read said honey is a big no-no for babies under one. It can cause allergies.

On nappy, has anyone started using the crawler size? The infant size starts to get a bit tight for him. Sometimes it even leaked.

Agnes, we are moving onto crawler nappies when this pack of infant ones is finished. They are just a bit tight now. Sorry about your MIL, hope the next couple of weeks go quickly for you. Good thing you stopped them giving W the honey. The concern with it is Botulism. In adults, any ingested spores usually get digested but they can survive a babies immature tummy and start producing the toxin. It is one of the most leathal toxins known. Honey is a product that can on occasion carry the spores.

Sherie, hope L is feeling better. How is his arm? He has had a rough year.

JaZ, W had a bad night too. The last two nights we have been up at 1 and 4. Is it a full moon or something? I wish we had daylight savings. There is no telling him that it is still night time at 4.30am when the sun is shining and birds are singing.

Well as for me I has so sick yesterday arvo when I got home from work ended up having the runs and spewing at the same time it was terrible then on top of that I was freezing cold one minute then hot the next. Oh I hope nobody else catches it. I am feeling much better today. DH did a wonderful job last night getting everybody fed showered and in bed and as well as looking after me. I am so lucky to have him and love him to death.

Katie - We have stocked up on crawlers from the last special that Woolworths had. Cant remember who, but someone here told me that they will be in crawlers the longest, so maybe stock up while you can. I think we have four boxes!

Leemar - Oh that sounds terrible, you poor thing! Are you feeling better now? Was it just a one day bug?

Agnes - Oh no you have a pushy MIL as well? I so know how you feel. Just as well you caught her before she did any damage with the honey. Poor DH obviously just thought mum knows best so I'll do what she says hehe. Maddie has been pretty unsettled for the past week and a bit, i'm wondering if having two mummies care for her atm is confusing her. And I do things differently to MIL, ie bedtime ritual. The sooner they leave the better right!? I'm moving onto crawlers soon as well. Maddie is getting a big bum!!

Jazmum - I hope you get some decent sleep tonight to catch up. I was up at 3.30am which is unusual for Maddie, but I'm feeling ok.

Fianne - Is Max still on track with her self settling? Seeing as she went to bed at 6 last night, did you wake her for a top up? Or will she make it through the night?

Sherie - You are always so helpful and full of advice for us, so if you need to talk you know that we are all hear ready to listen! I hope Alister gets better soon, the poor thing has been in the wars lately.

katie - i'm pretty sure you'd go through the 2 boxes. My friend just gave me a couple of leftover crawler nappies, as her 7 month old has just grown out of them.

arte - hope you catch up on some sleep today. No chance of that here - the girls have their cousin over for a play and we're going to be cooking and making christmas wrapping paper. Hannah is having a sleep now - she's such a cutiepatootie!!!

still have a grumpy buby this morning not really sure what it is maybe i needa take her to the dr (i keep saying that i know but its hard when dps asleep during the day i kinda have to be sure she really needs to go before i send her )
gotta go for a walk up the street today to get formula am going out tmw but i am not sure if it will last that long.. i bet it will when i go out and get it lol
crawler nappies - we went into them last week lol Asha has chubbie legs (like her mum lmao) so the elastic was getting tight on her lol
arte - steiner school gosh hard to explain.. its based on the philosophies of rudolf steiner..its very earthy, they are in the middle of the bush and have huge gardens etc to play in and the kids go on bushwalks... they have a different way of teaching thats more centred around the way a child learns for example when in grade 1 the children learn letters through drawing and learning other things they resemble eg m like mountains and they walk the shape in the classroom.. they use all natural materials all the desks and chairs and toys are wooden or natural materials.. they dnt sell food there and dont allow lollies chips etc.. they dnt allow commercialism eg barbie lunchbox/bag.. theres no uniform yet the children arent allowed to ware brand names or black clothes.. it sounds strict but basically its just this wonderful nurturing environment for the kids thats probably the worst explanation ever i can pm you their website if u want for the two schools i am looking at if ur interested..

BTW I a horrible wife Dwayne got home at 5:00am and I left him with Rory to go to work at 8:30am, Rory woke up 10 minutes after I left!!! He will be leaving at 3:00pm this afternoon for work with 3 & 1/2 hours sleep. I feel awful. I should of told work no! hmmmmmmmmm Ill make him my special curry chicken that he loves tonight to make it up to him.

These 1/2 hr naps during the day are awful! He is still tired when he wakes up yet he wont go back down. Its almost like he is forcing himself to wake up. He is sleeping from 9:00pm to 7:00am every night then surely he can sleep during the day.....its not like he cant do it!

btw i ment to say to all those buying nappies on special (i just got a box for 29.95 myself lol they usually sell for 42 at the supermarkets round here rip off!!!) just buy them anyway and if they grow out of it sooner than u expected the shops will exchange unopened boxes for a different size

Renee - they should stay rear facing until at least 6 months. I'm pretty sure that's the law in NSW. K sometimes wakes from naps very grumpy and will not resettle.

I had someone recommend honey to me last week because it might stop K waking twice during hte night. Squashed that one on the head!

We grabbed a box of the crawler nappies this morning. She's not ready for them yet, but will be soon I think.

Hayley - MIL hasn't been here for bedtime, but when my family is, I just take K around for a goodnight kiss from everyone then we head into her room to get ready for bed so she isn't too disrupted by all the visitors.

Leanne - glad you're feeling better today and don't have what DH does. He's on to his 5th day of gastro.

Scarlet is being a grumpy bum today v. clingly & grizzly - She was fighting sleep so hard last night & she just cried & cried until DF would take her - She's becoming a daddy's girl!
We have all been in the vegie garden all day today... We can actually see the vegies now! LOL just another one of those things that has been neglected lately.

BIG Sherie, Sorry to hear about your step father... I hope everything settles down for you after christmas & you have no more sickness or injuries to worry about.

MD ~ What Christmas preps!? I have done nothing - my to do list is exhausting just to read lol I must get started on it soon or we will be eating sandwiches for christmas lunch.

RE nappies; DF bought home some babylove nappies yesterday afternoon & I don't like them at all! they feel really stiff, one of the grip tabs clean tore off the first one i went to put on Scarlet... no leaks through the night though so i guess that's a plus.

I think we'll be using crawlers from now on too, might get some from woolies, thanks Katie!

Agnes ~ I read on here that honey is a natural anti-biotic & lil bubba's can overdose on it.

RE Steiner schools: I went to a steiner school for two years & they were the BEST of my school years, I absolutely loved it. They teach you so much about life & how to be creative. I want to put Scarlet in a steiner school but DF is dead set against it.

Renee, the 1/2 hour naps are very frustrating aren't they. W has about 2 or 3 of them a day, that is all he will nap. I can see he is still tired when he wakes, but he won't go back to sleep. And he has been waking at least once during the night.

I hadn't even heard of steiner schools, I googled it and it sounds really good. However, I am not sure they are very common in NZ. I could only find a few and I don't know if we will be living near any of them.
