You will figure out what is right for you.
With DD1, I was determined she would start in her room, well, she didn't go into her room until she was 7 months old. She was in a bassinet beside me from birth. I figured I was the one getting up to her, so I might as well be comfy in my own bed, and I didn't want her far from me. Dp wasn't disturbed very much.
DD2 is also in my room but at the end of the bed, and then half way through the night, in the bed.
