    Default PCOS after Implanon???

Kirsty from the TTC thread, clicked onto something, and I just want to get some answers here before I make a DR's appointment tomorrow.

I have been trying for 8months to get pregnant.
    1 miscarriage
    2 chemical pregnancies.

About 4 years ago I got Implanon in and I noticed that my weight sky rocketerd to a level high whilst I had it in. I kept it in until after the wedding.

Since the wedding, I have found that my weight is yo-yoing.
One week I will lose weight the following, I will put it back on.

I tried to talk to my usual GP but he just stated that I need to lose weight to conceive. But I think there is something more going on.

Could the Implanon induce POCS after removal do you think??

Not only have I noticed that my weight is yo-yoing, I find my periods are quite clotty. Sorry TMI there..
Also, this is quite embarrassing to say... I have found I am getting more "hair" than normal. I have heard this can be due to PCOS???

Well the hairy thing is definitely a sign of PCOS!LOL! So don't panic there!Like I said the weight issues could be insulin resistance. Do you have regular cycles?Do you find it harder than normal to lose weight?Do you carry most of the weight around your middle? These are all signs of PCOS.FOr your sake I hope you don't have it.My PCOS has gotten worse with time. Before I had Gemma my last AF was 3 months in between! Not fun when TTC!

Definitely go to the gp and ask for a progesterone level test(also known as a 21 day test) to check your levels and to see if you ovulate and get your testosterone levels checked as PCOS sufferers have higher than normal levels.

My weight also yoyos quite badly some months and I do find it hard to shift weight and yup you guessed it my weight is mainly around my tummy.

    Goodluck..........

    Hey Tamara,

Good luck with your Doc Appointment. I hope it goes well and you dont have PCOS.

Speaking from experience like Kirsty, I answered yes to all the questions she mentioned above 8-[ and I have PCOS. It was a relief to find out why it took 12 months to TTC and no luck so we went to see Specialist and found out I have PCOS and he prescribed Clomid and after I m/c he prescribed Metformin also.

Whats your diet like? no matter what I ate I couldnt lose weight I tried every diet under the sun.

Sorry to hear about AF again honey, im here anytime you need to talk.

My cycles are pretty regular ranging from 28-30 days. Actually just realised my period has come on the first friday of every month for the past three months...

I remember when I had Implanon in my periods were all over the place.

I have made an app with another DR on Monday to talk about things. Female DR this time so she may help me a little more.

I do find most of my weight is stuck around the middle and I definately can't shift the weight like I used to in High School.

To be honest, I would love to know if I have PCOS. At least I know I can fix the problem and deal with it head on.

Thats great that you made another doc appt Tamara. Its best to find out now rather than later trust me! I'm pretty sure actually that Tegan has said that she has been diagnosed with PCOS and her cycles are pretty much like clock work as well. Let us know how you go hun......heres hoping its something simple and you get a BFP really soon!

Went and saw my DR, thinking he would tell me to come back in 4 months to dicuss it more, he has given me a referal for an u/s to see if I have PCOS.

Talked to him and he said, that my weight can't be the full issue as I have been pregnant once before. If my weight was an issue, it woudln't have happened.
He also told me to stop stressing, like thats going to happen

He has also told me to go on the ELF diet. Eat Less Food...

I am going for my u/s once my period has finished... so next week...here we come!!!

As Kirsty said I was diagnosed with PCOS and my cycles are pretty regular but thats after giving birth, apparently pregnancy and birth can sometimes make your body reset or something. Anyway, before I had Lily my cycles ranged from 14 days to 49 days.

Glad you got an u/s referal. Goodluck with it.

Thanks guys, just realised that I will be "o"ing some time next week, so I think I should book in my u/s for Friday. I have just finished AF so it should pan out just right.

    Hi Tamara,

I have PCOS and my endocrinologist told me that hormone based contraceptives only make things worse (although they may mask the underlying symptoms while the patient is on them) He makes all his PCOS patients stop taking them.

Hopefully you get some answers soon.

Yeh kinda figured that out now

I told Alan the other night... NO MORE pills, implanon nothing for me from NOW.

We are discussing the options of pumping them out one after the other or so to speak and then him getting the snip...

Hi All, Trust me weight has nothing to do with falling pregnant i weighed in at close to 120kg when i fell pg and it was purely by accident but a welcomed one. I have had PCOS since i was 11 (got my first period at 9) and i was told i would never be a mummy. I have majority of my weight around my middle, i have all the excess hair and my testosterone levels were tripled what they should be! I went through a bad bout with my periods while taking metformin and i bled for 10 weeks straight then didnt get a period for 3 months after it stopped . The doctor had to put me on meds to stop the bleeding as it made me very ill. I have never had a proper cycle and sometimes i would hemmorage (sp?) sorry if tmi but PCOS is deffinately not fun sometimes. I have been hospitalised 4 times with it.

Tamara i hope everything goes well for you hun good luck with your U/S.
    Have a great day
    Mel

Well, my results are in...do you want to know the answers??? Or should I keep them impending??
    Nah, I will tell you..hehe.
My uterus is fine, my ovaries are fine everything is fine!!! Yipee \/ \/

All seems to be in working order. He said, that now my cycles are probably settled after the m/c my periods could be going back to normal cycles. So me thinking I am oing on CD18...he told me I could be missing the boat and ovulating earlier!!! That is why my LP is so short!! So some kind of good sign.
So I guess I should jump Alan tonight hehe.

He said to continue taking EPO to help with CM. I asked about Vitex and he said it can't hurt!!! Unless it lengthens my cycles become longer... and of course Folate...
He can't do many more tests. He said, come back if I have another m/c or I am not pregnant within 4 -5months....
