    Default Body Rash with Teething?

My DS has a pimple like rash all over his body, mainly on his legs and back and some isolated spots on his tummy arms etc. It looks like small raised red lumps. some have a white center others dont.
The Dr says that they are from teething. I have never heard of this before. I am aware that they can get dribble rash on their mouth and face from teething, but all over the body?
Has anyone else experienced this with their bubs when teething? And what did the rash look like.
This is so frustrating, as it has been coming and going for months now. Every Dr is giving a diff diagnosis.

It sounds more like eczema or a skin allergy or something similar to me, rather than teething... I havent seen/heard of any bubs that got a rash like that due to teething.
Maybe see if you can get your DS to see a skin specialist?
Sorry I couldnt be of more help for you... I hope you can find out what it definately is soon enough.

wow my dd had by the sounds of it a very similar rash about 1 wk ago and she is also cutting her teeth (her bottom 2 eye teeth) i actually originally thought it may be because of teething (she always gets something when she cuts teeth) however the week before i started using the huggies bath wash which i hadn't used before, i stopped using it and changed back to the normal baby wash i use and the rash started to disappear. so co-incidence or not, don't know i am affraid. i am however taking dd to gp today as she had a temp yesterday and just doesn't seem herself - lets hope it's just her teeth as i am going away on a girls weekend this weekend and dh is having the kids should be fun.

maybe you can get your mchn to check out the rash

    good luck

Both of my DS's got a rash with teething. I took them to the Dr to be safe but she said that the rash was more than likely a heat rash due to the high temperature they had. If you are worried then talk to you Dr about it.

Maddy has two different rashes. One is from excessive drooling due to teething, high on her chest because she just soaks through bibs at times. She has a second one which is fungal (ewww...) and then a whole bunch of little pimple looking ones dotting across her tummy.

DS has been in teething hell. High temps, obvious pain, slightly off his food and this morning, a rash mainly over his head and torso. I might go to the doctors just to be sure he hasn't contracted something from the creche at the gym and I'll be sure to post the results. I do realise this is an old post but anyone else going through the same thing will proly end up here eventually too...

my 14mth old had a high temp last week with a rash on her back/ belly mostly but with some patches on the arms/ legs. she had her hand in her mouth a lot but I couldn't see inside her mouth to see if she had a sore throat. I took her to the doctor and she said it was viral. two days ago I noticed that her eye teeth had popped through so It could have been a combination of the two.

Well the spots are definitely worse today The doctor yesterday said it was viral... she said now that he has spots its not contagious... DS is totally miserable but I don't think he's itchy just teething. Come on tooth!!!

    hi ally,

i saw the thread about your baby's teething rash, when i searched regarding that on the intnernet, as my baby is experiencing something now that seems very similar. if it's teething related, it's started since his last few teeth, the back upper and lower started to come through.

i see later on the thread, the doctor said it was viral. i just wondered if it ever returned as your baby carried on teething? my baby's been told at different times that it was chickenpox which i don't think it was as spots were more like mosquito bites, not blisters and never itch him. they appear mainly on his chest and back, sometimes legs and arms. i know they're not the normal teething rash, caused by saliva, he gets that too when he's dribbling.

we've also been directed towards food allergies and also regarding detergents and clothing. but their very appearance suggests they're hormonal in look, like teenagers acne almost, by they way they come up and then can disappear.

any thoughts or info you might be able to give, would be really appreciated. i'm being told so many different things, and all i want to do is know what they are and whether i could be doing something and importantly if they are teething related that they will eventually stop, as it's quite upsetting to see these erruptions on his little body.

    thanks, kim

    Default Teething Rash

    Hey
My 7mnth old recently had a buppy red rash over his back, neck and a little on his tummy... Seeing he is my first of course i panicked but because it was a sunday afternoon my doctors was shut so i started calling every mum i knew... About 8 of them all said their child had the same rash when they were teething, and now of course the rash went down and my little one has his first tooth... So the teething rash is actually more common then you think, the doctors will say its a heat rash or viral, but if the baby isnt sick just getting normal teething temperatures it may be nothing more then the basic teething rash... I didnt do anything new or change anything, and once he had the rash i only moisturised more often and it went away by itself, it never annoyed him and afterwards it was like it was never there. Howsever sometimes it stills pops up which apparently is normal... Ive spoken to many mothers since that first rash day and there have been so many that said there children had they same thing, they didnt even panic or take there kids to the doctor...

    Hi Lizzi,

Thanks so much for the info. Since my son's teeth stopped coming through so much, they seem to be taking a break for now but haven't come through totally yet at the back, the rash too has subsided. At one point it did actually stop and he wasn't chewing on everything so much. So that can't be just a coincidence over and over. It has to be related.

It just seems the doctors are the ones saying they've never heard of teething rashes on the body and looking different to the type on the face, not very helpful to us first time mums, and like you I do tend to ask the experts, other mums!

Thanks again, it's reassuring to hear that he's not the only one experiencing this. And thankfully like I say they do seem to be abating, hopefully they'll go completely soon as his last few teeth pop through.

    Kim
