It’s a grandma’s job to spoil her grandkids, right?
When she arrives for a visit, she’s usually weighed down with bags of clothes, toys (always noisy ones, thanks for that) and books.
Only, sometimes, those gifts don’t go down quite as well as grandma might have hoped.
Grandma’s Accidentally Inappropriate Book Purchase
A grandma recently achieved Internet fame after a story about her choice of gift went viral.
Knowing her six-year-old granddaughter, Emmersyn, was an avid reader, she always kept an eye out for books she could buy her.
After spotting what seemed like the perfect one in Barnes & Noble, she gave it to her granddaughter as a gift – a copy of a book called If Animals Could Talk.
The brightly coloured book, filled with animal illustrations, looks harmless enough.
Unless, of course, you can read.
When Emmersyn sat down with her parents and began sounding out the words, they quickly realised this book probably hadn’t come from the children’s section of the store.
The hilarious book is littered with bad language and inappropriate humour – exactly the sort of thing you want your six-year-old to read before bed.
Amused, Emmersyn’s mum Tiffany took to Twitter to share the story.
The tweet has been shared over 20,000 times and attracted comments from around the globe.
According to her mama, Emmersyn didn’t understand what the story was about.
That’s definitely a relief.
Now we just have to hope she doesn’t repeat her new vocabulary of expletives at school.
Grandma was, understandably, mortified.
If you happen to want a copy… you can get one here.
