The third trimester of pregnancy is the final third period of pregnancy. The word ‘tri’ means three – the first trimester is the first 13 completed weeks of pregnancy, the second trimester is the next 13 completed weeks which takes us to week 27, then the third trimester begins at the start of week 28.
Remember, that your estimated due date may be at week 40, but only 3-5% of babies are born on that estimated due date. Especially if it is your first time pregnancy, you are more likely to go past your estimated due date. Approximately 40% of babies are born in the two weeks before the estimated due date and another 40% in the two weeks after.
