OMG CelticMoon, what a shocker of a Dr, not even checking with an u/s, glad u didn't listen.

My sis had bleeding & cramps at 14.5wks with her 1st, but m/c, she remembers being really ill early on with a virus/flu. Her 2nd preg, had same bleeding, but went on to have a healthy bub.

I had bleeding, well more spotting than bleeding, ranging from brown, to pinkish/red. This happened in my last pg & this one. 1st pg was 6-11.5wks on/off, this time, 7-13wks on/off. Everything fine with both.

The 1st time it happened with my 1st, I panicked big time & went to emergency ward, 4hrs later was seen to, another hr later told to go home as no u/s could be done that day, back again next morning, 3hrs later finally got our u/s, another hr later able to go home, we had a NZ flight to pack for the next day. I had very mild cramps with it too. They put me in a bed right next to a lady who's started 3 days earlier but was not so lucky, it became much heavier, I felt so sorry for her having to hear my results & it wasn't very nice having to hear her news. Have had few cramps a few times with the spotting, but nothing major, all was/is fine.

I hope u all have healthy bubbas

    Hi there,
I'm 21w and had a very light bleed at 16w, and have just experienced another one a few hours ago. It's not much blood, but still a little concerning. Have not noticed anymore since. I had an u/s with previous bleed and sonographer noticed that placents was low-lying. Just wondering if many other people are going through a simialr situation. I know I've heard that its common.... but at the moment I just really need some kind words. I will be monitoring the bleeding, if there's anymore, and if there is... its straight to emergency for me. I have another scan app on weds but at this point in time... weds cannot come quick enough!!!!

    Thanks
    Nicky

Hi 4under3, I was relieved to hear that your bleeding stopped. I am 15 weeks pg with twins and (see earlier post) bled for several weeks and was told I had m/c only to find out I had two (not one as I had thought). My twins have two placentas and two sacs so i'm not sure of what you are going through but it sounds like you have the best of care which is always reassuring. Good luck and I look forward to hearing how you are progressing in the near future. If you get foxtel there is a great show on there called Multiples in the Womb. It goes through everything you mentioned (ie twin transfusion) and is very interesting. Worth a watch if you can.

    Default Bleeding

Hi I am currently 11 weeks pregnant. I already have two beautiful children and am blessed they are 8 and 10. My partner is not the father of my children (although he acts it) and we have been trying for some time. I had no bleeding with my other two at all, there were minor complications as I have lupus but nothing major. I didn't know I was pregnant until 7 weeks as I don't get regular periods and had had bleeding, although not heavy. I decided to test and found out I was pregnant. Paniced as I had had an xray and had been taking medication for lupus and pain management, and taken antibotics as the lupus was causing problems with my kidneys. I got in urgently for an ultrasound and was relieved to find out baby was ok and 7 weeks along. Said they couldn't see any problems with relaxed me 100%. But less than 1 week later I had spotting, sometimes it was red sometimes it was brown, never very heavey. Sometimes it lasted a week sometimes 2 days, but there was only ever 1 to 2 days in between where there was none. I am now 11 weeks pregnant and still spotting. As we live in the country I am unable to get in to see a doctor until the 30th March so another 2 weeks and have been waiting 2 weeks already. I feel like I am going insane, everytime I start to relax it starts again. I have no morning sickness at all but already have a little tummy and my breasts are still larger. I have never wanted morning sickness so much in my life to give me a sign that the little tyke is ok. I just wish I knew if I was still pregnant. I read an early story where someone said they wished that it would just happen so they could get on with it, at times I feel the same, but I want it so much. I guess I just want to know if anyone else has constant bleeding (brown and red) during their first trimester. I know my pregnancies are high risk and am lucky to have 2 beautiful children but I still want to be selfish and have this one as well.

Airlie, that was like what happened in my 2 preggies (wasnt full on bleeding, just persistant spotting which got slighly heavier at times colours changed & yes it would go for several days at a time, then stop for several). I posted just a few posts b4 u & all fine. Apparently it is very common to bleed, esp in 1st tri. A good sign is no bad cramps with it & not heavy. But you might want to ph ur GP/obgyn to advise them.

    Hi everyone..

I am now going 38 weeks. But I would like to share my experience bleeding during pregnancy. Well, I got miscarriage when I pregnant my first baby. That time I was 9 weeks pregnant. I found a brown spotting at my panties and got panic since it was my first time. I afraid to see that I got so many brown spotting. Then when I went to see my gynae, she said she cant see the sac anymore and asked me to go the hospital for further check ups. When I arrived at the hospital, my brown spots turned to reddish pink and at that time I think my baby gone. When the doctor scanned me, he said 90% the baby gone. And asked me to take a rest at home. That night, I was so in painful and it's hard to describe. I felt like it coming out and had a bad bad dysmenorrhoea or can i say like a period pain. When I go to the toilet, I saw a lump of blood out from my vagina. It's like a size of my thumb. The pain come & go every 3-5 minutes. When I went to the hospital, they said that I do not need to make a D & C but got to recheck up
after a week since I continue bleeding. Then after a week, the doctor said it's totally came out and no need to make the D & C. He just gave me some medicines. In my case, they said refers to the clinical situation which an intrauterine pregnancy is present but is no longer developing normally or missed abortion.

After 2 months, I detacted pregnant again..and this time my former gynae gave extra attention afraid I will bleed again. Well, on the 6th week of my pregnancy, I bleed again and given a medical leave for 3 weeks for bed rest. I was given an injection for 5 times every 3 days. I forgot what the injection name was. And they gave me turinal and other medicines. After that, thank God everything fine till now at 38 weeks, my baby actively moving in my womb waiting for his time to come out. I bet he's eager to see the world..

I don't know what your opinions regarding this but for me his was a hard time. Since I married on June 2005 and I only got pregnant on May 2006 but it ended with misscarriage. I was so in pressure situation and stressed. Plus, I've been asking by many people including my in law family when to get pregnant and bla bla bla..They compared me with other people who got pregnant once they got married. I was so sad and cried almost everytime whenever I heard somebody got pregnant. I always acted that I am not ready yet to have a baby when people keep asking me. Thank God, I got a lovely husband and a few of my friends who understand and gave me support and encourages for me to be strong.

I wish all of u out there best of luck and immediately see your care provider once u noticed any spotting or bleeding during pregnancy...All the best to all mama..

    Hello
I have just found this great site and was hoping to get some advice. I have had two unsuccessful pregnancies, 1. partial molar at 7wk 4d in Aug 05 and 2. ectopic at 6wk in April 06. (sorry if TMI) I am now 6wk 1d pregnant and have been to toilet this morning and throughout the day and when I wipe there is brownish stuff on tp. I have had a lower back ache since last period was due (2 weeks ago) and am wondering if I should go to hosp. or call GP. I phoned my ob last week to make an appt and was informed that I need to see a GP first, phoned the GP and they said they would not see me until I was 10 wks? So with my last miscarriage I was informed it will just happen and there is nothing I can do anyway, do I just sit it out and wait? I am really not sure. Any advice would be great.

    Renate,
If you are concerned you can go to the ED of any public hospital. In major centres they will have u/s equipment where they can have a little look at your baby. They may not pick up a heartbeat at 6wks and 1 day but will be able to see a gestational sack and comment on where the bleeding is coming from.

As you will know from reading through here bleeding in pregnancy is a common occurance and does not always spell the end. Brown loss tells us that it is older blood - at such an early stage of pregnancy.

If you choose not to do that and wait it out I would find a gp who is happy to see you early. With your history it is very reasonable to have care and reassurance early on. I would strongly urge you to do that.

Thinking of you my love and wishing you a sticky baby...

Thanks heaps for your support. I cannot stop crying at the moment, but will talk to DH when he gets home from work today and if still bleeding or an increase in the morning will go to the ED. Otherwise I will call another GP on Monday. That's sounds rational, thank god someone is at the moment.

    Again thanks for your advice

    Default Thanks Shell l d

Thanks Shell it really makes me feel better knowing that other people have gone through the same thing, I am feeling like this is just going to be me, at least I am feeling a lot better I have put quiet a bit of weight on 5 kilos in 3 weeks and have a definate belly so surely that is a good sign. Also my previous babies were at risk and very small and I didn't really put any weight on so I am more confident that this one maybe a lot healthier if I take the bleeding out of it. I thought the same as you, I don't have any cramps and most of the spotting is first thing in the morning except when it is a little heavier and lasts longer during the day but does decrease. I have 10 days till appointment so fingers crossed. But thanks for your reasurrance. Airlie!

    Hi
Just wanted to say that unfortunately we have not been so lucky and the ob confirmed that a miscarriage had occured on 18/03 at 6wk 3d. Looks like we will just have to keep trying. It is damn annoying though. Good Luck to you all.

    Default Good to know-Not alone

    Last week
I have been spotting now for almost 4 weeks - i simply chalked it up as 'odd' since this occurred after my 1st period since giving birth to my son in Sept. I went to the DR to have it checked out and (surprise) I tested positive for pregnancy. The next day i had a US and due to my levels and size of sac they said i am about 4 weeks - interesting because 4 weeks ago i was on my period. I am going back in for blood tests today and will find out where my levels are tomorrow. The spotting was primarily brown, but this morning after waking up, there was a decent amount with ash-like flakes of red/brown blood. I believe this spotting is an indication of miscarriage. I wish there were more posts on what is going on - i hate the waiting game and would just like to know if i am or am not having a miscarriage.
    TMI ALERT
5 days later(Today:Monday): Levels went from 2134 on Tuesday to 2679 on Thursday (an ok increase). Had the internal US on Wednesday but as mentioned sac was too small to tell if there was a bubs growing. But then on Friday morning i had a decent amount of 'dripage' in the am after waking, but it vanished until after work when I had a 1/2 tbsp amount of maroon blood drip out of me - so im thinking i miscarried (?). All weekend i have had spotting, only this time red, still with the ash-like flecks, pin-sized dots and small (size of dust) looking clots. Never more than even 1 liner a day. My lower back is a little achy also. I go in for another round of blood tests tomorrow and an assessment on Wednesday... this is driving me insane. I completely understand the urge to have it be over or ok as someone earlier posted. It really is good to know (though not necessarily normal) that there are others who have experienced what i am going through.

    Default Hope everything is fine

Shale I hope all your tests come back fine. I too have had quiet a bit of bleeding and different colours and textures. I was very worried as I didn't have any of these in my first two pregnancies. Unfortunately due to where I live I have been unable to have a lot of tests to confirm everything is Ok. But I have a substantial belly even though I am only 13 weeks and still have the signs of pregnancy. My bleeding and uncomfortableness was very similar to yourself with lower back pain and sometimes tender around the stomach as if I was having a heavy period of which I don't normally get. Once I hit the 12 week mark I have had absolutely no spotting what so ever since and actually feel the most pregnant than i have all the way through. My bleeding also occured mainly first thing in the morning and usually decreased as the day went on, it could be brown or red or a mixture of colour (sorry if TMI). My appointment is on Friday and am more confident everything is ok now ,so I am thinking of you as you go through this and hope everything is fine and hope you don't have to wait as long as I did to find out the news so that you can finally relax.

    Default Bleeding

Hi, I have put in a few replies earlier on. I am pregnant with my third child although my other two children are 8 and 10. I have had bleeding and spotting on and off throughout my pregnanchy. I am 16 weeks tomorrow. At week 12 it totally stopped and everything seemed to go back to normal. Doctor wasn't worried anymore, still booked in with specialist care due to high risk pregnancy with Lupus. But was more relaxed. At 14 weeks I started light spotting again and didn't panic, was upset though that he had started again. But by the Friday morning bleeding got heavier and I had slight stomach cramps and lower back pain. By Friday night it was the heavest I had had the whole way through with small amount of clotting as well. I was so sure that I would have lost it that night. I rested all day Friday and Saturday, Sat morning bleeding started subsiding again and by Sunday had stopped. As a long weekend couldn't get into the doctors but once I did we could here a strong heart beat and it was squiming a lot. Good sign. I guess I just wanted to know if anyone else has had bleeding past the 1st trimester and if there was ever a reason for it. I am waiting for a special ultra sound which I would have had at 18 weeks due to lupus but they are trying to bring forward. Just want to know why it is happened and make sure it isn't something too serious. I have to say that this chat group has been great to hear other stories I was ready to break before hearing some of the stories early on. Thanks to everyone for sharing.

Airlie, how scary for u, but great news that heart beating away strongly. Yes I know of an LTTTC'er who bled right through both of her pregnancies. Not sure what the reasons were.

    Hi ya

This is the best forum I have come across for this subject!!! I am so glad I found it!

I am 8+5 weeks pregnant nd had some light bleeding last night (two wipes with red/pink) this morning I have had a little brown spotting.

I had a scan last Friday which showed a healthy beanie.

Having had two Missed MC's in the last two years I am scared out of my wits, but this has been very reasuring.

Fingers crossed for all of us to have healthy pregancies - and many condolences to those of you who have suffered a loss.

Thank you so much for starting this board.
