The symbol for a Taurus baby, the 2nd sign of the zodiac, is that of a Bull’s head. Ruling Planet: Venus
Taurus Baby – Venus Child
Having a Venus Child in your midst, brings a little of the goddess’s magic into your own home. You’ve got an ‘Old Soul’ here, for Taurus is one of the most ancient of all the signs, dating right back to the Taurian Age, when the Pyramids were built.
Every sign takes the energy of the sign before and takes it to the next level. Aries are the ideas people of the zodiac and Taurians are the builders. Taurian’s are able to take an idea and turn it into something we can see in the real world. Taurian’s are practical and patient. Your little Taurian is part of a Cosmic lineage that goes back to the dawn of time and there is a sense of timelessness about this child.
Your little Taurian will be happiest when creating and making something. Whether they make structures that stay up for 5 minutes or 5 thousand years, it’s all the same. They get a sense of satisfaction in looking at something and thinking ‘I made that’. It doesn’t even matter whether it has any practical purpose, as it’s the joy to be found in creating that will inspire your little Venus child.
As an Earth ruled sign and the middle sign of spring, they’ll love the garden, especially flowers and blossoms. Its the richness of life and creation of new life that your little angel will love. At an early age, take them out to pick spring flowers and to visit the baby animals at the zoo, because they love new life.
The sense of creating new life is so strong, that your little Taurian will stay at tasks for hours and days, to see things through. They are a hardworking and patient sign, but not when it comes to routine chores, only when it comes to seeing something made or created.
When your little Taurian grows up, they will seek a rich and sensual love life and when they’re little, they approach the people in their life with the same fullness of heart. To have the arms of a little Taurian wrapped around you is like being kissed by an angel, for they’ll love you with all their hearts and that’s a pretty big heart in there.
Taurus Baby – The Constellation
The constellation of Taurus is the representation of a Bull – a snowy white bull. The bull plays an important role in numerous mythologies and across all societies.
In has been recorded that the Babylonian version of Venus was spurned by Gilgamesh (the first ever recorded hero) who accused her of destroying all her lovers. In rage, she got her father to create a ‘Bull of Heavens’ to destroy him. To this day, Venus rules Taurus.
History of the Bull
Worship of Taurus the Bull dates right back to the Taurian Age (4139 BC to 1963 BC). The great Taurian Age was when the Pyramids, Stone Circles and other great feats of architecture were built. It is one of the Taurian traits to want to build things that last. The Bull has long played a major role in fertility worship. The bull’s horns are said to represent fertility, growth and regeneration, all analogies of spring, the season in which Taurus falls.
For even the Druids the Bull was an object of worship. One of their greatest religious festivals is called ‘the Tauric’, held when the Sun enters its boundaries. The Tors of England are said to be an old site of the Taurine cult.
The Bull is often depicted as rising from the Ocean. This is a depiction of one of the most universal myths surrounding Taurus the Bull. It is said that Zeus turned himself into a Bull in order to seduce the beautiful Europa (he had a habit of turning himself into animals or other forms in order to get close to and seduce the object of his desires). He then hid himself amongst her father’s herd.
Drawn to the attractiveness of the Bull she gradually overcame her fear of the massive beast, first stroking him and eventually climbing onto his back. He took off over the seas and they eventually landed in Crete where Zeus revealed himself, pledging his love for her and gifting her all the land she could see – Europe.
In every culture the Bull was a powerful phallic symbol. As the sign that is rising during the vernal equinox, its starry body was said to be the incarnation of the Sun – the vernal equinox takes place in the constellation of Taurus and in ancient times was often referred to as the ‘breaker of the year’.
Even the story of the Minitour and the labyrinth of Minos is that of the Bull. King Minos raised the wrath of Poseidon by refusing to sacrifice a white bull. To punish Minos he afflicted Minos’ wife, Pasiphae with a love potion so she would lust after the Bull and mate with him. She did and the result of that union was the Minotaur, a creature half man and half beast, so shameful that a labyrinth had to be built to hide the creature. This is a story that represents our own shame over our ‘bestial’ passions. Taurus is a very sensual sign.
Taurus Baby – The Planet
Venus is the ruling planet of Taurus.
Venus is a planet of exquisite beauty. The third brightest object in the skies (behind the Sun and Moon), it was once thought of as two separate planets as it rises at both sunset and sunrise. The ancients knew however, that the morning star ‘Eosphorus’ and the evening star ‘Hesperus’ were one in the same, but to this day Venus rules two signs, Taurus and Libra.
With very few exceptions, modern Astronomers who have mapped Venus have given the physical features on the planet names, which in almost every instance are female. Taurus is a feminine sign.
Venus is the second planet from the Sun and the sixth largest. Because its closer to earth than any other planet, to us it appears the largest. When Venus is in Taurus, or in our sign, our desires seem larger than anything else in our life.
Venus’s rotation and that of its orbit are synchronised, so that it always presents the same face to the Earth when the two planets are at the closest.
Scientists, to this day, don’t know if this is merely coincidence or is because of some resonance effect. For Taureans, beauty and pride in appearance are paramount, so is patience (some call it stubbornness). Beauty, whether it’s of the body or the psychical environment, is very important to Taureans. How apt that Venus herself portrays the same characteristics, wanting to take her time and always show her ‘best side’.
Taurus Baby – The God
To the ancients, Aphrodite didn’t rule Venus, Venus was Aphrodite. In her we find one of the most colourful figures in Greek Mythology. Aphrodite (foam born) is the Goddess of love, beauty and desire. She’s a very complex Goddess. She could be jealous, vain, spiteful, disloyal and even vindictive. Yet she also brings love, pleasure, passion and life bringing joy. But then, aren’t these the very aspects of human nature that we all display. In many ways Aphrodite is a very ‘human’ goddess.
To understand Aphrodite, you need to understand what drives her and what is within her. She truly feels that she deserves love and pleasure. She has enormous self-love and to gain the object of her desires she doesn’t care what she has to do to get it. To her the ends justify the means. Beauty, love and material gifts are things that Aphrodite aspires to. She is also a very fertile goddess, giving birth to many children, from many lovers. Behind every Taurian stands Aphrodite.
Taurus Baby – The Season
Taurus is the second sign of the Zodiac and the second sign of spring. Here, the spring thaw has finished, and the earth is warming. It’s time for the planting of seeds, for fertilisation to begin.
This was an important time of the year in the life of the ancients and a time of fertility sacrifices and festivals. There is new life in abundance, the grasses, crops and seeds are all flourishing. The land itself is coming alive. This is a time of sowing, procreation and celebration of life.
As the middle sign in each season, it is a ‘fixed’ sign, it’s after the initial surge in optimism of the first sign that the hard work begins. By now the ideas of Aries can be turned into reality. The hard work begins. It’s time to get your hands dirty in the ground. Planting begins. It’s time to make solid the dreams and ideas birthed at the start of spring. Taurian’s love the earth and the garden.
