You can experiment with different apple varieties and spice combinations to create your perfect baked apple chips.

Baked Apple Chips Tips

  • Choose your apples wisely: Opt for firm apples that will hold their shape when baked. Granny Smith, Golden/ Red Delicious, Pink Lady, or Gala are good choices.
  • Slice thinly: Use a sharp knife or a mandoline to slice your apples as thinly as possible for the crispiest chips. When sliced, allow them to dry on paper towel for a crispier finish.
  • Don’t overcrowd the tray: Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the baking tray to ensure even cooking.
  • Spice it up: Cinnamon is a classic choice, but you can experiment with nutmeg, ginger, or even a sprinkle of chilli powder for a spicy kick.
  • Lemon juice: Adding a splash of lemon juice to your sliced apples stops them from going really brown.
  • Apple core: You may core the apple or leave the core in, just remember to remove the pips as they are bitter.
  • Store in an airtight container: Keep your baked apple chips fresh and crispy by storing them in an airtight container at room temperature.
