Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe | Traditional Italian Favorite

Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe

A very simple recipe for this Italian favourite. Ragù alla Bolognese, referred to as Bolognese sauce, is a rich meat-based sauce originating from the city of Bologna in Italy. Bolognese sauce is served as a topping for tagliatelle or spaghetti, a flat thin, or ribbon-like pasta, enjoyed by many in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy.

Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe Tips

  • Make double the amount of bolognese meat mixture and freeze the rest ” use it for a spiced up version of shepherd’s pie or for stuffing big tomatoes.
  • Toast off some fresh breadcrumbs in a frying pan and use to top the bolognese for more texture. Finish with some shredded basil or parsley and a little shaved parmesan.
  • My family love this spaghetti bolognese recipe with a half/half mix of chopped tomatoes and condensed tomato soup – it gives it a beautiful, rich smooth flavour and tastes a little sweeter.
